Chapter 58: Chapter 58: No Turning Back (Final Part)
As the palace was slowly destroyed, I continued clashing swords with Ramses, ignoring the debris falling to the ground.
Ramses: "Turtle Style: Circular Repel." He said, standing in front of me, as he moved his two swords parallel in a 180-degree motion, making it look like a 360-degree movement.
This knocked back my two heavy swords, creating an opening for an attack.
Ramses: "Lion Style: Three..." I didn't let him finish, but I parried one in his face, stopping the attack, but not completely.
He immediately looked at me and pointed three fingers at me, creating a slower but more powerful slash.
I had no choice but to block the attack because of how close we were. Using all the Armament Haki I could on my swords, the attack pushed me back, creating a small dent in one of my swords.
From what I've seen, the faster the slash, the less powerful it is, as indicated by the amount of time he uses his hand and eyes to aim. A full palm is the strongest, and without using his hand, the least powerful slash.
There are only two ways to win and suffer the least damage.
I couldn't continue my analysis, as Ramses fell upon me, his swords bathed in a white aura, indicating he was using his Devil Fruit in addition to them. This made the swords much sharper than they should be, allowing them to cut through almost anything.
I moved to the right to dodge the slash. At once, I tried to respond with a horizontal one, only for him to defend with his spare sword. The blow moved him a few inches.
That's another thing I realize: I'm stronger than Ramses, by far.
He responded with a slash with his aura-enhanced sword, delivering an attack that cut through anything it touched.
He leaps toward another floor that wasn't completely destroyed but was almost destroyed. This gave me a chance to escape his vision.
I have to take advantage of the two greatest advantages I have, speed and strength, being something that allows me to counterattack with his techniques and Devil Fruit.
Ramses: "Tiger Technique: Furious Slashes." With that, a large number of slashes landed at my position.
Using a few soru attacks, I got out of that place and arrived behind Ramses, ready to cut him in half. Only to be greeted with something I wasn't expecting.
Ramses: "Infinite Area."
And in a second, in a circular area of three meters, an infinite number of cuts appeared, with Ramses himself at the center. I only had time to defend myself with Haki to mitigate the damage, only to be greeted with a power outage in my stomach, sending me flying out of the palace.
I fell onto a street, filling the place where I arrived with smoke and dust. The problem with all this is that I heard a scream, and that means there are still people here.
Dante: "Get out of here; it's dangerous." I couldn't say anything else, as I had to block an attack from Ramses. The impact generated a small gust of wind, enough to make people realize the danger they were in.
Ramses looked straight at me, creating cuts that sliced into various parts of my body.
Dante: "You're going to have to pay me for the torn clothes; they're designer clothes," I said, taking off my shirt, which was all torn and covered in blood.
Ramses: "Sure, I'll put on your funeral clothes."
Dante: "Since when did everything become so sarcastic?" I said, slipping into an offensive stance.
Ramses: "You started it, don't you remember, when you were 6 years old," he said, doing the same.
There's only one way to face him: by being faster than him and making him unable to see, or...
Ramses: "You know, the Devil Fruit that..." He couldn't finish as I got into his attack range and slashed both swords horizontally, causing him to bend backward to dodge the attack.
He quickly raised his swords to slash vertically, forcing Ramses to fall to the ground and spin to avoid the attack, only for me to kick him as he stood up, dragging him back a few meters.
Using both hands, I grabbed the main sword and, with as much energy as I could, launched an energy slash at him, which he could only defend with the sword.
My attack cut through both buildings and the air itself, but it failed to cut Ramses's sword, which flew far to the north of the city.
Using geppo, I went to where Ramses had fallen, seeing him already standing with a cut on his abdomen. He couldn't block the full damage of the attack with his swords.
I have to deal as much damage as possible, and with the swords, I'm not achieving that; I have no choice but to feint with them.
I threw my two swords to use soru and reach where Ramses was. As soon as he saw them, he deflected them with his two swords. This gave me time to attack him from above, and he couldn't counterattack with his swords, leaving him with only the ability to move and dodge the blow.
My attack destroyed the entire floor I was standing on, generating a large column of smoke, earth, and debris. It also destroyed much of the path, along with a gust of wind that caused the few people still watching from a distance to stumble and fall.
Taking advantage of the layer of smoke, I delivered another blow to Ramses, who dodged it, slamming my fist into a building, generating another field of smoke, and destroying the structure in the process.
Ramses was already a little more panicked at the force I was able to exert with my blows. This, combined with the amount of dust and smoke in the area, meant he couldn't see another blow to his chest coming.
He could only use Haki to defend himself, but it didn't help much, as I felt his ribs fracture and blood gush from his mouth, only to send him flying back to the already completely destroyed palace, crashing through four buildings on the way.
I was already feeling tired, both physically and mentally. And it didn't help that people wanted to see me fight, risking Ramses attacking and killing them.
I decided to walk over to him; what I noticed was that he decided to do the same. Even though he was hurt, he should try to calm down a bit. I also noticed that he only had one sword; he must have dropped the other one mid-journey.
Knowing no one was watching me at the moment, I used the system to summon my swords and sheath them separately.
At that moment, I realized why he hadn't attacked me yet, only to feel an incredibly high sense of danger. But Ramses was already a few meters away from me, his blade shining brighter than usual.
Ramses: "Opening of the Gods." And then he made a vertical arcing motion with his sword, creating an energy slash that practically reached the stars; clearly not like that, but it looked that way from my perspective.
With the attack being so ragged, I had no choice but to take a step to the left, only for the attack to graze my arm, taking a bruise off my shoulder in the process.
The pain was immense, but I couldn't let my concentration be diverted by it.
I watched as the coffin split the earth, cut through the air, and reached the sea, only to split it open. An attack that cuts through everything.
But that took its toll on him; he spent a lot of stamina doing that. He looked very tired, his mouth open and panting at the action.
Seeing an opportunity, I rushed over. This was an opportunity; I shouldn't let him rest; if he keeps this up, I can only hope he makes a mistake.
Ramses instinctively activated his area of attack slashes. I decide to use all my Haki to defend my body and tank the attack.
Using two swords, I tried to cut off one of his arms, but he, using his full palm, attacked me, slicing through my torso with a vertical slash. But that didn't stop me from slamming a sword into his abdomen, bringing everything to a screeching halt.
Dante: "This ends here and now. I've beaten you, period. Now go back to the holy land and don't come out of there again." At that moment, I removed my sword from his stomach, only to notice an attack on my swords, which I had to deflect with my back, seeing it was a slave with a rifle pointed in my direction, only to turn around and be impaled in the stomach by Ramses's palm.
Ramses: "How stupid you are! You should have killed me then and there instead of taking the sword off me."
I kicked him away and removed his arm from my stomach. He could only flinch back, as the wounds were also taking their toll.
Ramses: "It doesn't matter how I kill you anymore; the only thing that matters is that you die." "Once that happens, I will take your loved ones; I will torture those two men so they tell me everything valuable you have so I can destroy him; I will rape those two women and use them as sensual toys for me and my friends." "I will make anyone who would have preferred you to me regret it for life." He said it all with extreme hatred; Much of that hatred wasn't directed at me, but it doesn't take away the fact that I see all the bad things in his life as my fault. At least in his distorted imagination.
This reminded me of someone, Hades. A guy who, when he says something, can go into the same void to fulfill what he says. This only makes me have to make the same decision again.
He walked slowly to my position with his sword ready to slice me; I was kneeling, holding my wound, trying to regain my energy.
Ramses: "Farewell, brother," he said, slashing me diagonally from his shoulder to the end of my body, only to grab his hand when he had already sliced a portion of my chest, severing a bit of my lung, but not reaching my heart.
Dante: "You scream too much."
I caught Ramses unnoticed with this move, causing him to widen his eyes in surprise. With the lightest and shortest sword I had in my sheath, I slashed at him, severing the arm holding the sword.
I went for another slash, but I had to use my hand to stop another bullet coming at my head.
Ramses took the opportunity to slash with his two fingers and his remaining arm, which I had to dodge, painfully and bleeding profusely. He then responded with a punch to the face, sending him flying. I managed to get out of here and lose sight of the slave who was shooting at me.
I wasn't going to wait to see who bled to death first, so I used all my strength and Soru with all my might. The next attack would be the last, so I had to end this here, no matter what.
I felt Ramses barely standing, so, having only one chance, I spun around to reach for the sword and cut him down.
Only when I jumped did I see him turn around to face me and make an arcing motion with his hand. I didn't move away; using the hollow sword, I also slashed, causing the room to fall silent.
I fell to my knees, clutching my neck, which began to bleed out. I was already losing so much blood and was almost fainting, only to see Ramses's chest split open, nearly sliced in half.
I may not have cut him completely, but I did manage to cut his heart.
Ramses stared at me as blood flowed from his mouth, only to open it and say something.
Ramses: "Despite everything, I still hate you, and I will hate you forever." "See you in hell, brother." He then fell to the ground, dead.
I couldn't process anything, as I felt myself fainting. I heard voices in the distance, but I had already fallen unconscious.
Third-person POV.
In the scene, in the distance, you can see a group of people wearing masks, who were holding den den mushi (a type of mask) and taking photos of everything that had happened. I also saw a group of marines arriving at the place where the battle had ended, along with Dante's companions.
???: "We have to tell Sir Ares," one said.
???: "We have to tell the Gorosei about all this first."
???: "It doesn't matter; do it at the same time individually, and that's it," said the one who seemed to be the leader.
???: "After that, we'll leave?"
???: "No, idiot, we need Ramses-sama's body to bring it back to Mary Geoise."
???: "What will happen to Dante-sama?"
???: "They only told us to bring him back if he lost." And with that, they went to the marine barracks to retrieve Ramses's body.
*Time skip*
The masked men, better known as CP0, are seen returning to the Holy Land. Only to be warned by an alarm of an attack.
Government Agent: "They're pirates, full alert."
The leader of this CP0 group jumped to the top of the ship to see the pirate ship that dared to attack a World Government ship.
Only to see a large ship made of candy and a Jolly Roger of a skull with lipstick, surrounded by a pink mane and a pirate hat.
CP0 Member: "This has to be the worst day of my life."
*Transition Moment*
Dante's POV
My whole body ached, only to open my eyes and be greeted by a bird's-eye view—literally, a bird. Hun was standing on my chest, staring. Something very eerie, only for a very loud croaking to begin.
Hun: [Woke up, woke up, the master woke up, woke up]
I began to listen to Hun's words, and my head started to hurt. Only for a nurse to rush in, see my eyes open, and slam the door shut.
Hun: [Woke up, woke up, the master woke up, woke up]
Dante: "You can be quiet, Hun. I think everyone will know soon enough." He managed to get me to stop making noise.
Hun: [Food? I'm hungry.] I'm not too surprised.
At that moment, several people entered, including my comrades and some marines.
Arthur: "I see the sleeping mummy has woken up."
Dante: "Ha and ha, how wrong to mock your leader when he was about to die."
Trini: "There was no other choice. You yourself said we couldn't intervene in this, didn't you, Your Majesty?"
I didn't like the last thing he said.
Dante: "Your Majesty?"
Sulli: "You were in a coma for two weeks, so it's normal that you didn't know the latest."
Two weeks; no wonder I'm hungry and thirsty.
???: "The newspaper has spared no resources to make certain situations go viral; maybe he's not that guilty about all this, the world government is also involved in this, Dante-sama."
Dante: "Because the sama, just tell me, Dante... a guy I don't know."
???: "My name is Brannew, and unfortunately, I can't, Your Majesty." He said, throwing two newspapers. "The one on the left came out first."
The first newspaper read: Dante faces a celestial dragon and defeats it. There were photos of the battle I had with Ramses; I saw three in particular. The first was when I punched him in the torso, the second when he almost cut me in half but I stopped him, and the third when I killed him.
Brannew: "According to our intelligence, there were some guys working for the World Government who took photos of your entire confrontation. When they returned, they were attacked and killed by the Big Mon pirates. The photos were passed on to them, who decided to sell them to the Underworld, where Ramses-sama was recognized as a Celestial Dragon by two Underworld bosses. The rest you should deduce for yourself."
At that moment, I saw the other newspaper, which said, The truth revealed: Dante is a Celestial Dragon, and he killed his brother. You have no idea how much I hate Morgans right now.
Brannew: "This is because of the first newspaper, so they don't have to blame you and have you sent to Impel Down or Mary Geoise, and because of the Celestial Dragons' anger at being killed by trash." "The Gorosei decided to reveal your 'celestial dragon' bloodline, thus appeasing the celestial dragons and preventing your imprisonment and possible incrimination."
I read, as I was saying, that the confrontation I had with Ramses was to see who would be the heir to the Manmayer family. Pure bullshit. He just wanted to kill me, even though I returned the intention by beating him.
He throws me onto the bed, groaning at the situation. This looks like something out of Ares. I don't know what that man is thinking, and I don't know if this is good or bad. Maybe both.
Dante: "Where are we?"
Isis: "In the G8."
Dante: "Who else is here?"
Isis: "Us, Doll, the head nurse of the Navy, and from what I hear, some people from G2 are about to arrive here; Garp is coming too, but I don't know where he is in the great sea right now."
Dante: "Why is Doll here?"
For some reason, everyone looked at Arthur, who was drinking a soda, only to turn around and look suspiciously at everyone.
Arthur: "I don't plan on hitting anyone; did you hear me?"
Dante: "Oh, I see you haven't wasted any time; I'll give you my thumbs up." I said this, painfully giving Arthur a thumbs-up gesture, but Arthur didn't understand what was going on, since he wasn't paying attention to the conversation. Teenage love, except neither of us is a teenager.
At that moment, the bedroom doors opened, and a familiar blonde walked in with a baby in her arms.
Marie: "I see they messed you up," she said with a slightly sadistic and shitty laugh.
Dante: "What did you come here for?" he said, a little worried, seeing what she was holding.
Marie: "I came so my son could meet his father."
Isis: "Father!"
Sulli: "Another one?"
Trini: "Am I an aunt again?"
Arthur: "Mamma mia."
At that moment, she handed me the child, whom I couldn't say wasn't mine, since he had blond hair and red eyes. Since she's only been in G2, and there aren't any men there with red eyes, there's just a discard.
That reminded me of the promise I made with her to cooperate in defeating Hades. Am I that fertile?
Dante: "Does he have a name?"
Marie: "No, I was waiting for you to give it to him." Did I keep calling him "baby" or "son" all this time?
Dante: "Well, I'll call him Tertullian."
Trini: "What a shitty name is that."
Dante: "Just kidding, chill out," I said before someone tried to kill me for naming him after her, which I said to annoy them. Seeing his appearance, and since he's my son, I can't help but give him the next name. "He'll be called Gilgamesh, like the king of heroes, Gilgamesh."
Arthur: "King of Heroes?"
Dante: "It's an epic; maybe when I finish writing the Harry Potter saga, I'll write it."
Trini: "So what are you planning to do now?"
Dante: "First, recover, and second, clarify certain things in a press conference."
Everything was put on hold.
Isis: "What's a press conference?"
Oh, that doesn't really exist here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi, I'm here to complain about the Uma Musume game. I've been playing it since Monday and haven't been able to win any URA finale; it makes me mad.
I also wanted to say that I was planning on naming Dante's son Karna, but I already used him to make Balesca, the character on the cover. I'm also going to upload a photo of what she would look like without the mask.
I'm currently preparing for several academic projects, so I won't be able to spend much time writing the chapters. So, if the next ones come out very late, I'll be happy to let you know. At least until I finish all this, I won't be able to write to my liking.
I hope you like the chapter. I tore my hair out trying to write it in the best possible way, making it understandable and entertaining.
