monster Gene Evolution

Chapter 47: Chapter 41

Back at Lockwood Estate – California

Dr. Henry Wu leaned back in his chair, the dim glow of the hologram reflecting off his tired eyes. He mulled over Walter's proposal in silence before finally speaking, his voice cautious and firm.

> "I once obtained Black Wyvern's DNA… back when he was still something close to a snake."

Walter and Ren Serizawa exchanged glances as Wu continued.

> "I entertained the idea then. I thought, maybe I could use it as a base—use its malleability, its hybrid nature, to create something… revolutionary. But I was wrong."

He stood, walking slowly toward the glowing hologram that depicted the swirling helix of Black Wyvern's DNA.

> "What no one understands is that his DNA doesn't follow the same rules as normal organisms. When inside his body, it's stable—perfect, even. A living engine of adaptation. But once it leaves his body… it remains flexible, yes, but it becomes volatile—devouring anything weaker than itself."

Ren raised an eyebrow. "Devouring?"

Wu nodded.

> "Every genetic sequence I introduced to it was consumed—not spliced, not combined—obliterated. Even Indominus Rex's DNA, which was designed to be a hybrid powerhouse… it lasted a little longer, but it was still consumed eventually."

He turned toward Walter.

> "It wasn't just incompatibility. It was like Black Wyvern's DNA was… rejecting weakness. Purging it. I realized then—if you try to build something new with it, you don't get a hybrid… you get a mutation. Something uncontrollable. Something angry."

Walter crossed his arms, annoyed but curious. "So you gave up?"

Wu gave a bitter laugh. "Of course I did. I wanted to make a weapon, not a goddamn curse. I shelved the project and went back to the Indoraptor. And you know how that went."

He paused, letting it all sink in, then continued.

> "Now you're talking about mixing multiple Kaiju-level genetics with that same volatile base—genes from creatures that are already difficult to clone under normal conditions. Even if you could stabilize one of them long enough to begin splicing, you'd be facing a nightmare of trial and error. Endless dead-ends. Countless failures. And all of it would require… resources you don't have."

Walter finally spoke, tone hardening. "We do have the resources. We have you. And we have Mega Kaiju samples. DNA on Black Wyvern's level. You said yourself, stronger genetics might stand a chance. So we aim for that level."

> "No… you still don't understand," Wu said, voice rising with urgency. "Black Wyvern isn't like the Indominus or the Indoraptor. His genome is alive, adaptive, and always evolving—but only while it's inside him. When I captured him, I tested his ability to integrate DNA. I introduced Indominus Rex's genes directly into his body. The results were—astounding. Flawless fusion."

He turned, locking eyes with Walter Simmons.

> "But when I tried to replicate the process in the lab? It failed. Over and over again. And now you want to skip all of that and just slap together the most unstable genetics in existence?"

Walter gave a small smile. "Show him."

Ren Serizawa nodded and swiped the hologram. The swirling DNA vanished, replaced by a high-resolution scan of a massive, horned, severed dragon head—withered, but unmistakably alien.

Wu's blood ran cold.

> "That… Is that what I think it is?"

Ren answered quietly. "Yes. Ghidorah. One of the heads was recovered by Alan Jonah. It's ours now."

> "You're insane," Wu muttered, standing. "You want me to fuse Black Wyvern's DNA—a creature that is a titan today—with Ghidorah, a planetary extinction-level entity? A creature that reshaped weather systems, brought cities to their knees, and once fought Godzilla to a standstill? You want to mass-produce that?"

Walter's smile widened.

> "You see the vision now, don't you? It's not about balance. It's about control. If Ghidorah was chaos… we'll make it order. Human order."

Wu shook his head violently, taking steps toward the door.

> "This is madness. I won't take part in this! This isn't science—it's suicide!"

But just as he reached the door, he collided with a hulking figure. A burly man in black tactical gear, holding a stun baton. Wu looked up, startled, just as Walter's cold voice came from behind him.

> "I tried being civil. I gave you a chance to volunteer, Henry. But you leave me no choice."

Wu turned to protest but—

Crack!

The stun baton struck the back of his head. Wu collapsed forward with a gasp, slamming into the metal floor with a dull thud.

Walter stood over him, his voice devoid of emotion.

> "The world may have once belonged to titans… but now it belongs to us. And I will do everything in my power to keep it that way."

He looked to Ren.

> "Prep the lab. And secure the Ghidorah DNA. Our Alpha won't build itself.

After hours of flight, Alex finally descended upon Nevada, landing in the very crater he had dug out weeks ago. As soon as he touched the ground, multiple dings echoed in his mind, signaling the radiation-rich environment refueling his depleted reserves. The warmth of raw energy seeped into his body, repairing microfractures, soothing bruised muscles, and easing the ache from his battle with Godzilla.

For the first time in what felt like days, he allowed himself to relax—at least as much as a thousand of -tons apex predator could. His glowing spines dimmed slightly as his body began the slow but steady process of regeneration.

As he laid still, his mind wandered.

'Ghidorah…' he thought. 'The real threat is gone, but the problem isn't over.'

He remembered something—faint and distant—from the movies. The alien hydra's severed head had been retrieved by Apex Cybernetics. That was probably where it still was, even in this world. The issue? He couldn't recall where exactly Apex's headquarters were. And right now, with his strength not yet fully recovered, a global scavenger hunt wasn't ideal and besides it would make him look bad So he would wait.

Alex shifted slightly in the crater as his body finished absorbing the last traces of ambient radiation. With a low rumble of satisfaction, he opened his jaws and dropped the broken dorsal plate from Godzilla, the jagged remnant landing beside him with a heavy thud.

Then it came.

Ding!

Godzilla DNA detected. Integrate?

He didn't hesitate.

Yes.

Almost immediately, a familiar heat coursed through his body as his system broke down and assimilated the new genetics. His back cracked and shifted, the smooth ridges along his spine pushing outward, reshaping and restructuring into jagged, triangular fins reminiscent of Godzilla's own. Larger. More defined. A sign of power.

His muscle fibers coiled tighter, denser—compact yet heavier. He didn't grow in size, but his frame felt stronger, more durable. A small but significant change.

Then he felt it—deep within his chest, his atomic core pulsed differently. More stable. His breath weapon, which had once been a short, devastating blast, now lingered just a little longer. Enough to turn the tide in a beam clash. Enough to make a difference than before.

'Not bad,' he thought, eyes flickering faintly with red energy.

Still, he couldn't help but feel a small twinge of disappointment. There was no new ability, no game-breaking power—just a refinement. But perhaps that was the point. Evolution didn't always mean mutation. Sometimes it meant sharpening the blade that was already there.

With the echoes of battle finally fading and his body beginning to settle, Alex let his eyes close.

He had fought Ghidorah's aftermath. Humbled Godzilla. Defended his right to exist.

For now… he would sleep.
