"There's even a plane?"
George stared at the X-Jet before him, completely stunned.
He hadn't expected the X-Jet to still be in the school's basement; he thought Wolverine and Professor X would have flown it away when they escaped.
Wolverine, having shed his suit and shirt for his favorite old jacket, puffed on a cigar and explained to George:
"Too bad I can't fly a plane. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been so desperate when I took the Professor and ran for our lives."
When the Professor's mind went out of control back then, killing all the mutants in the school, Logan drove him straight to the hospital to save him. Although the Professor's condition later eased, they began to be hunted by numerous FBI agents.
If he had known how to fly a plane then, he could have taken the Professor straight out of the United States to another country for treatment, escaping the government's pursuit.
"It's good that it's here. It'll be useful eventually."
Only then did George remember that Wolverine not only couldn't fly a plane but also seemed to have a fear of heights and airsickness.
In the movies, it was usually Beast, Mystique, Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey who took turns flying the X-Jet.
However, this wasn't a bad thing. Although this X-Jet was over twenty years old, it had been specially modified by Beast, a brilliant scientist, and was not much worse than S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most advanced Quinjet.
Not only was it fast, but it could also achieve invisibility and shield itself from satellite detection.
In the future, as long as one of them learned how to fly, they could use this X-Jet to evacuate everyone in time if any danger arose.
For example, the Chitauri invasion of New York wasn't effectively contained.
"Oh, right. When you go into the city to scout for information later, you can ride this motorcycle. It was Scott's favorite, specially modified, and three times faster than the fastest motorcycle in the world."
After touring the X-Jet, Wolverine took George to find what looked like a very ordinary motorcycle in the basement.
Wolverine, the Professor, and Caliban were all too conspicuous and couldn't appear often in the city, or they would definitely be discovered by the government. They could only act at critical moments.
So, the task of going to Stark Industries in Manhattan to gather information about Tony Stark would have to be completed by George himself.
"It seems Scott had good taste."
George test-drove the motorcycle, a satisfied expression on his face.
Since everything had gone smoothly so far, and the mutant academy was better than he had expected, he no longer intended to contact Tony Stark so quickly and expose himself to S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra, and other forces.
Therefore, there was naturally no need to go to Manhattan to gather information, nor to kidnap Obadiah to interrogate him about Tony Stark's location in the Middle East.
However, he would still need to use this motorcycle to go to the Bronx to gather intelligence on local gangs and unscrupulous businessmen.
Because he planned to pull off a big job in the Bronx before Tony Stark escaped.
Currently, his own plan was to diligently study magic for the first three months.
After three months, he would sweep through all the wealthy and powerful gangs in the entire Bronx, acquire a large sum of money, and then frantically buy shares in Stark Industries when its stock was at its lowest.
Then, he would sell everything when Tony Stark returned and Stark Industries' stock soared.
And when Tony Stark announced the closure of Stark Industries' weapons division, no longer selling weapons, he would once again buy frantically. This way, he would instantly possess a huge fortune, ensuring he and the school children wouldn't have to worry about money.
Of course, this kind of thing could only be done once. If he were to clean out gangs every day, it would inevitably attract the attention of Kingpin, the ruler of the underworld, and other forces.
As the saying goes, if you walk by the river often, you're bound to get your shoes wet. Doing it too much, he and the mutant school might both be exposed.
But doing just one job, finishing it, and then disappearing, never showing his face again, in the camera-scarce Bronx, even if Sherlock Holmes came, he wouldn't be able to find him.
So this one job had to be a big one, and he needed to scout and gather intelligence beforehand.
"He certainly had good taste, especially in women. I used to really dislike that guy, but now I miss him a bit."
Wolverine looked at the motorcycle and couldn't help but fall into remembrance.
George immediately understood. He knew that both Cyclops and Wolverine loved Jean Grey, but Jean Grey ultimately chose Cyclops.
"Oh, right. When we use these facilities in the basement, we'll definitely be using electricity. Will that attract the government's attention?
Or should we buy some generators? Although the power won't be as abundant, it would be much safer."
Twenty-five years had passed. The government probably long since forgot about this mansion and wouldn't be specifically monitoring its electricity consumption. However, he felt it was better to be cautious in all matters.
He had finally found such an excellent hiding spot. If it were exposed, he'd have to find another.
Later, when he learned the Muggle-Repelling Charm, he wouldn't need to be so cautious anymore. Even if he reopened the school, he wouldn't have to worry about being discovered by the government.
"You can rest assured about that. The electricity for the two-story basement has been specially modified due to a certain previous incident.
Beast added a special power supply system, different from the power supply of the mansion above, and also made extensive defensive upgrades. Even with all facilities running, there won't be any trace of electricity usage detected."
Wolverine waved away George's concern.
"That's good."
A "special incident"? Was it the Apocalypse invasion, or William Stryker leading an attack on the academy?
George didn't inquire further. It didn't matter which it was. What mattered was that he knew this place was very safe, allowing him to focus on studying magic.
"I'll take some time to scout for information outside. If possible, I think you and the Professor could help guide these children on how to better use their abilities in combat."
Finally, George offered a suggestion to Wolverine.
Since the basement's combat simulation room was functional, it could be used to train the children in using their abilities for combat.
Unlike the amateurish and brutal training at the experimental base, true experts like the Professor and Wolverine could better unlock the children's potential.
He didn't expect these children to play a major role in combat in the short term. At least being able to protect themselves and not be a burden would be good.
Alkali Genetics would definitely not let them go so easily. It was only a matter of time before they tracked them down.
When that happened, it might not just be Wolverine's clone coming after them, but perhaps clones of Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, and others.
Of course, George believed that the clones' strength would surely be far inferior to their originals.
Because, except for some specific types, many mutant abilities required acquired development and understanding to unleash greater power.
Just like Magneto, he wasn't that strong when he first appeared; it was Professor X's development and guidance that led to his later power.
The clones created by Zander Rice had intelligence roughly equivalent to young children, and their actions were mostly controlled remotely. How could their abilities possibly be developed?
In the movie, Major William Stryker used Wade as a base, fusing so many mutant abilities into him, but he still had his head cut off by Wolverine and Sabretooth working together.
It proved that unless thought control was released, clones could not grow to surpass their originals; they could only remain cannon fodder.
However, too much cannon fodder was also a headache.
