"So you're really some kind of supervillain Lord of Hell?"
"So you are the underground emperor who controls Hell's Kitchen?"
"So you're the one who got the federal government to order the eradication of Hell's Kitchen?"
Strange's eyes widened, disbelief heavy in his voice as if questioning an impossible truth.
Seeing Alex Ray nod, Strange hesitated before slowly sitting down, almost laughing at the shocking revelation.
He looked at Alex with a mixture of emotions.
He had thought Alex's life hadn't gone well, but never imagined he'd become the overlord of the underground world, enough to make the federal government uneasy.
Strange recalled his own hard work over the years—working day and night to become a renowned neurosurgeon, owning a luxury car and a mansion.
He thought he'd achieved great things, but compared to Alex, it all seemed insignificant.
"Hell's Kitchen..." Strange muttered to himself. He'd heard of the place—the heart of the underworld controlling the entire American gang network.
There was a popular saying: "Whether the American underworld is chaotic or not, Hell's Kitchen has the final say."
He imagined Alex sitting on a throne in Hell's Kitchen, surrounded by loyal subordinates, luxury cars, mansions, and beautiful women.
Meanwhile, Strange was still grinding to get by, and the gap between their lives felt unbearable.
The joke's on me, huh? I'm the clown here, not Alex.
Damn, I lost to him again.
How did Alex pull this off?
"So what are you thinking? Why don't you just leave? That's the federal government! Do you think you can be stronger than the country? You're just asking to die," Strange urged Alex.
At first, Strange was a little scared when he realized Alex was this Lord of Hell figure—a real villain. But he believed Alex hadn't changed, that he was still the same guy from college.
He also believed Alex wouldn't hurt him, so his worry shifted.
"Don't worry. Trust me. Trust Hell's Kitchen," Alex said with a smile.
His eyes sparkled with confidence, as if everything was under his control.
"So, you're here to take me away?" Alex asked.
Strange poured himself a glass of water and replied proudly, "I'm here to collect your body."
"You claim to be just a regular guy, but now that you're the Lord of Hell, you're taking yourself way too seriously. Stay away from me," Strange said, dissatisfaction and blame lacing his tone.
To him, what Alex was doing was too dangerous—and if Alex wasn't careful, he'd lose his life.
Before Strange could say more, Deadpool, dressed in his battle suit, came up and hugged him.
"Bro, I admire you. You're as loyal as I am," Deadpool said.
"If it weren't for Alex, I'd have been dating a beautiful girl ages ago. Who'd still be stuck in this dump?" Deadpool complained, eyes full of helplessness.
Strange pulled away, disgusted, and pointed at Alex. "This is the friend you've been stuck with all these years? He's getting worse and worse, dressing like a clown. He really thinks he's a superhero, but he's no celebrity. His taste sucks."
He couldn't understand how Alex could be friends with someone like Deadpool.
Offended, Deadpool started chattering annoyingly around Strange.
Alex used chaos magic to seal Deadpool's mouth and said seriously to Strange, "You're my friend, and they're my friends too. Don't talk like that."
Strange rolled his eyes, speechless. Sure, he respected Alex's wishes, but who'd want to be friends with these weirdos?
"Wade, Strange means no harm. He's always been like this. If you get to know him, you'll see he's worth having as a friend," Alex explained to Deadpool.
After all, Strange hadn't had his car accident yet, nor had he gone to Kamar-Taj to study magic.
He was still that arrogant genius who disliked everyone. But Strange had the right to be arrogant; otherwise, the Sorcerer Supreme wouldn't value him.
If Alex hadn't shown his strength back in college, Strange wouldn't have befriended him.
"Looks like Strange still needs to crash a car, or he'll never shake that superiority complex," Alex thought.
"Strange, I'm not leaving. Hell's Kitchen is my home. My family and friends are here, and so are the people who need my protection," Alex said seriously, his eyes resolute and deep.
"Besides, it's too late to leave now," Alex added, pointing at the alarm clock on the wall.
Strange glanced up. Less than a minute remained before the federal government's attack on Hell's Kitchen.
It's over. I didn't take Alex with me, and now I might lose my own life.
My mansion, my luxury car, my life... My Kerry...
Strange stared resentfully at Alex.
Alex seemed to sense Strange's worry and patted his shoulder, voice calm but commanding, "Don't worry. No one can hurt you in my territory."
"Stay in this restaurant. Even if the earth explodes, this place will be safe," Alex reminded him.
Thanks to the system's presence, Alex had set up his home on the first floor of the Good Luck Restaurant. The space was an independent pocket dimension created by the Space Stone—no earthly weapon could damage it.
"And Peter and Harry will stay here. They'll keep you safe," Alex added, nodding toward the two young men.
"Just them???" Strange eyed the kid dressed like a spider monster and another in a green combat uniform. Strange had been warned by Alex not to mock them.
Peter and Harry looked at Alex with resentment. It was clear they'd rather fight alongside Alex than stay behind.
"You are the last line of defense. This restaurant means everything to me. I'm counting on you," Alex told Harry and Peter.
Then he turned and walked out with Deadpool and Pietro.
"Where are you going? If it's as safe here as you say, why are you leaving?" Strange asked.
Alex stopped but didn't look back.
"We have many guests coming to Hell's Kitchen. As its host, I need to entertain them properly."
