Marvel Brodcast : Spoiling Spider-man

Chapter 20: Chapter 20 Spider-Man 2

Just a short while after Stark finish dealing with the congressional hearing, the Screen, which had remained silent for what felt like an eternity, suddenly lit up again.

"Wow, I thought the screen would stay black for a year or two. And here it is, bright again already?" Tony quipped sarcastically, fresh from attending a congressional hearing. He leaned back in his chair, smirking as the illuminated Screen captured everyone's attention.

This time, the Screen ignored Tony's commentary entirely. Instead, passionate music swelled, and images began flashing in rapid succession.

['She looks at me every day, Mary Jane, and I really hope she knows how much I love her! But she will never know that I have chosen a life of responsibility—a life destined to be without her.']

['Who am I? I'm Spider-Man! I have a sacred mission! I'm also Peter Parker. I have a job to do!']

Peter Parker's heartfelt monologue struck a chord with many viewers. The idea of sacrificing personal happiness to protect the ones you love is a bittersweet reality for superheroes.

During the Screen's month-long hiatus, Spider-Man's meteoric popularity had waned slightly, though he still dominated newspaper headlines and retained a loyal fanbase. Remarkably, New York experienced a wave of immigration as people sought to live in the same city as their hero.

Spider-Man's presence even gave the NYPD a rare period of calm, with crime rates plummeting. Yet, his existence also presented a dilemma for the department's leadership. While Spider-Man had become an international idol, celebrated by billions, his presence made the police appear ineffective.

To save face, a senior official devised a clever solution: Peter Parker was offered a position as a specially hired officer of the New York Police Department, complete with a salary. The arrangement placed no restrictions on him—his name was simply added to the payroll. Peter, after some thought, agreed. Uncle Ben expressed pride in Peter's decision.

Meanwhile, Mary Jane's newfound fame led her to pursue acting. Although her skills were limited, she was given the lead role in an upcoming production as an experiment. Aunt May and Uncle Ben also moved back into their old home, enjoying a semblance of normalcy.

When Peter became a special officer, Commissioner Stacy held a press conference, warning reporters not to harass Peter's family under threat of arrest. The move was effective—no journalists dared linger near their residence.

As for Norman Osborn, he faced charges of intentional homicide. However, due to the side effects of the serum he had used, his sentence was reduced. He was currently confined to a mental hospital for further evaluation.

[On the streets, promotional posters of Mary Jane adorned walls. Peter rode a scooter, helmet on, gazing absentmindedly at one such poster. A pizza shop employee yelled, "Peter! Peter!"]

[Peter snapped out of his daze and braked hard, narrowly avoiding the owner. The rear wheel lifted off the ground as he skidded to a halt.]

["Peter, you're late again! You're always late!" the clerk scolded.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Aziz! I got delayed!" Peter apologized hastily, shoving the edge of his partially exposed Spider-Man mask deeper into his pocket.]

[Aziz, visibly frustrated, handed Peter an order. "This delivery was placed 20 minutes ago! You have 8 minutes to get it there. If you're late, not only will I lose this client but also they will get this Pizza for free, if that happen you'll also lose your job!" he barked.]

[Aziz sighed and added, "Peter, you're a good kid, but you make people worry. This is your last chance! 44 blocks in 7 and a half minutes, or you're out!" Peter froze for a moment, stunned. "GO!" Aziz shouted, snapping him into action.]

[Peter sped off on his scooter, weaving through traffic as the engine strained. At one point, he was forced to brake when a bus blocked his path. Glancing at the clock, he realized time was slipping away. Determined, he ducked into an alley.]

[A black man on the street noticed Peter entering the alley with the pizza. Moments later, Spider-Man emerged, swinging on his web with the pizza in hand.

"What! Spideman stole that guy's pizza!" the man exclaimed, his eyes wide.]

Tony burst into laughter, clutching his sides. "Hahahaha! Did that guy seriously think Spider-Man would steal a pizza?" Even Nick Fury cracked a rare smile.

The man on the Screen noticed himself and exclaimed, "WOW! I'm on The Screen!" His sudden recognition drew attention from the crowd. Embarrassed, he turned and ran, his face reddening. Fortunately, his dark complexion masked the blush.

[As Peter swung through the city, he noticed two children playing on the street. Their ball rolled into the road, directly in the path of an oncoming truck. Without hesitation, Peter hurled the pizza aside and swooped down, rescuing the kids just in time.]

[After ensuring their safety, Peter flew back up to retrieve the discarded pizza. A man on a nearby rooftop noticed the pizza sitting next to him and grabbed a slice. Just as he was about to take a bite, Peter's web snatched the pizza from his hand, leaving the man stunned.]

"You dare to steal Spider-Man's pizza? How big is your courage" a man in a suit said with a smile.

"It looks so delicious, Mommy, can we have pizza tonight?" A little girl was looking at the screen, drooling with greed.

[Peter arrived at Harmattan, Burton & Smith Law Firm and climbed through the cleaning room window. His entrance caused a racket, knocking over brooms and supplies. Flustered, he straightened up and carried the pizza to the front desk.]

[The receptionist, chewing gum, informed Peter that the delivery was late and refused to pay. Dejected, Peter grabbed the pizza and headed back to the store, only to be fired by Mr.Aziz upon his return. Aziz the advertisement off Peter's helmet, venting his frustration. The Screen faded to black once again.]

Tony's laughter subsided as he reflected on Peter's struggles. "Poor Peter Parker," he murmured. "He has to save lives and work a regular job. If this keeps up, something's bound to give."
