Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Changes in the 'Knowledge Moor'
Before Odis was the familiar expanse of illusory light, a seemingly formless wilderness...
But deep within it, the towering structure composed of faintly glowing orbs now emitted a light that appeared less illusory, as if the entire tower had gained a slight substantial quality.
Odis paused to observe for a while before stepping inside.
The interior hadn't changed much, except for a magical circle that had appeared beside the 'Core Simulator'...
A single glance told him it was a teleportation array.
Immediately, the corresponding operational knowledge flooded his mind. To be precise, this was a two-way array connecting the real world and the 'Knowledge Moor'.
In the real world, as long as he drew the corresponding sub-array, he could transport objects into the 'Knowledge Moor'. This was a new ability Odis had gained after his advancement.
Though it could only transport inanimate matter, it was incredibly practical.
Odis sighed in amazement, "Now I have my own inventory!"
His experimental materials and money could all be stored here, a place far safer than any bank.
He had already decided that he would draw a permanent array in his basement and prepare a portable version on cloth for emergencies.
Next, Odis touched the Core Simulator and searched for information with his thoughts. Soon, he discovered that his access level had indeed increased.
For example, he could now look up the potion formulas for Sequence 9 and Sequence 8 of the 'Mystery Pryer' 'Savant', and 'Reader' Pathways.
Surprisingly, the 'Reader' Pathway had been added!
But a new question arose, "Why only up to Sequence 8?"
This was frustrating. While advancing granted him more potion formulas, it didn't include the ones he needed for further progression!
Odis felt both amused and exasperated. Then, recalling the pages of Roselle's diary he had read earlier, he searched for the mystical symbols used by the Elves.
Previously, he couldn't find any information about the Elves. But now, he could indeed access their mystical symbols. Not just the elves... Dragons and Giants were also included.
Comparing these symbols, Odis quickly realized that the mystical symbols widely used in the Northern and Southern Continents had evolved from those of the Giants and Dragons. Mostly from the Giants.
The Dragons' mystical theories seemed fundamentally different from humanoid species, with many symbols incorporating draconic elements.
As for the Elven symbols? They belonged to an entirely different system.
Odis pondered, "My earlier conjecture was correct. The Elves originated from the 'Western Continent', and their mystical principles are completely distinct from those of the Northern and Southern Continents. That's why Elven arrays appear more powerful."
Unfortunately, he still couldn't access Elven arrays... He could only access the arrays used by human sages of the Second Epoch. It seemed he would need to advance further to unlock that Knowledge.
The arrays used by ancient human sages were markedly different from modern ones. There were no standardized pentagrams or hexagrams... many were square, trapezoidal, or even polygonal. They were more versatile and potent than contemporary versions.
This aligned with Odis's earlier hypothesis... With the dawn of the Third Epoch, the 'Ancient Sun God' used the Blasphemy Slate to popularize potion formulas among humans, allowing them to become Beyonders relatively safely.
As a result, research into arrays gradually declined, and much of the knowledge vanished into history. Nowadays, arrays were more decorative than functional.
Odis's core research, however, focused on Spirituality. His findings had given these forgotten arrays new purpose.
Though he could only access the mystical symbols of ancient supernatural races like the Elves, this was already a significant gain. Their symbols were far more refined than modern human ones.
Currently, Odis's studies on mystical symbol derivation were painstakingly slow, so these well-developed systems provided an excellent reference.
After reviewing this information, Odis began his research for the day...
He decided to set aside his previous project and explore a new question: Could the supernatural knowledge within Beyonder characteristics be extracted and implanted into another person's mind?
After advancing to 'Melee Scholar', Odis had experienced the supernatural knowledge and combat skills directly inherited from the Beyonder characteristic. It was a remarkable sensation. No learning was required... It was as if the knowledge had been bestowed like a divine blessing.
This gave him a devious idea...
If mystical knowledge and combat techniques could be forcibly implanted into an ordinary person's mind, that person would instantly become a Mysticism expert and combat master.
Of course, an ordinary person's body hadn't been reshaped by potions, so they would still need training to fully master those skills. But this was far easier than conventional learning, where one had to repeatedly practice to grasp the nuances of combat.
With implanted techniques, one would already possess the experience, making practice a matter of execution rather than discovery, which would drastically accelerate mastery.
However, even with such knowledge, an ordinary person would still fall far short of the real deal due to lacking a true Melee Scholar's reflexes and cognitive speed.
But this method had large-scale potential. Theoretically, with enough Beyonder characteristics and Spirituality, all of Backlund's citizens could become Mysticism experts and combat masters.
This was purely hypothetical. Odis currently only had one 'Melee Scholar' Beyonder characteristic. If his research succeeded, he merely intended to train a few Mysticism assistants when needed.
As the study progressed, he encountered two major hurdles:
- How to extract knowledge from Beyonder characteristics?
- How to implant that knowledge into an ordinary person's mind?
Fortunately, he could now access ancient arrays left by human sages. Among them was one designed to extract useful supernatural information from the corpses of mystical creatures.
In those times, humans were fragile, their grasp of Mysticism was far inferior to that of massive supernatural beings. Thus, their thirst for knowledge led to the creation of this array, allowing them to obtain mystical and supernatural insights after slaying such creatures.
However, this array required significant modifications to meet Odis's needs.
The second problem could be addressed with a modern array called Mind Resonance (telepathy). Those seated within the array had a slim chance of perceiving another person's thoughts.
But this array needed even more adjustments... So for now, it could only serve as a reference...
