Life Of A Nobody - as a Villain

Chapter 437: Fighting a goddess

"Saisha." Amy muttered in confusion after staring at the girl's face and couldn't understand what role she played in this illusion or in her past life.

But the confusion and curiosity in her heart took a backseat of her brain, when she found herself back in the reality of the red sun. She stared at Apate's figure through the waves of water and uncontrollable anger blinded her.

She remembered everything she's been through on this trip, and with every memory, raging chaos covered a new part of her skin. Until she lost all of herself and the only thought left in mind was payback.

Apate, who was chilling upstairs, watching the bubbles floating in water and thinking which new punishment should she give to this slave of hers, when suddenly a sizzling sound came from the river and water vapor covered her vision.

The sudden change caught her off guard, and when she waved her hand to dispel the magic, a sword zoomed in on her vision and slashed at her neck.

Amy, whose dark hair were now floating freely like waterfalls, with empty eyes and bloody pupils showing a lack of emotion _charged right at the goddess.

Though surprised, eons of experience played a part and Apate's body moved on its own. Not only dodging the attack, but also tapping on Amy's forehead. Trying to seal her mana and send her back into the illusion.

Yet to her surprise, her stretched fingers couldn't touch Amy's skin. An invisible barrier formed an empty space between them, like an endless chasm which she couldn't cross.

If that wasn't enough when she tried to break that barrier with her magic, a corrosive power poured into her body. Making her feel like someone poured hot molten lava in her veins.

"Arghhh" Apate grunted in pain and took her hand back instinctively.

Even she didn't know how many centuries it had been since the last time she felt pain.

"How did you get out of Styx river so fast?" Apate asked as she stared at her opponent. Madly attacking her in a frenzy. "Your soul should be buried in the sea by now, witnessing the final journey of all your past lives, until you forget your present one."

"Living through death again and again until you forget being alive _ that's the effect I've copied from the original river into my magic. So how did you break my illusion?"

"Heh." Amy didn't answer but only sneered in response. Her guesses were indeed correct. That vision wasn't a simple illusion, it was her past life.

Apate stared at her and then at the ground Amy came out of, she tried to use her powers to send her back into styx, yet found she couldn't use that magic.

It was the familiar feeling when an avatar dies and their God forgets one skill.

But how is it possible?

Apate couldn't help but complain in disbelief, and then try again, waving her hand to constantly carve out different patterns and making runes all the while dodging Amy's attacks _ yet… nothing.

Nothing..

She clearly remembered the entire process, the skill calling, the control method_ yet somehow it failed to work on Amy again.

"Did you grow immune to it?" Apate muttered the guess that came to her mind, but then shut it out next instant. "But that's impossible."

"Not to mention your dumb brain, even geniuses of higher intellect would have trouble resolving it. _so what's wrong?" Apate spoke and clicked her tongue in displeasure.

She had paid quite a price to merge her illusion magic with properties of styx _ and she had a lot of hopes for it. Yet the first time she tried it on someone in battle, and not the one tied to a table _ this is the result.

"Damn it, tell me how you broke that illusion and why it's not working on you anymore?" Apate screamed in annoyance waving her hand to slap Amy.

Yet in anger she failed to feel the fluctuations of space surrounding her, and then… .

Swish _ thud

Apate looked at her severed arm on the ground for a few moments, and then at the second invisible dagger pinched between her left hand's fingers, inches away from her eyes.

Crackkkk

With a slight force of her fingers, the empty air made a cracking sound and soon several small metal pieces fell to the ground.

"It's just the beginning of your pain." Amy spoke as her figure disappeared from Apate's invisible grip and appeared beside her.

A crown of red appeared on Amy's forehead as she raised her palm to turn her chaos into a ball of energy, before stuffing it into Apate's open wound. "I swore a thousand fold revenge. And we're not even at one yet."

The series of actions from the sudden slash to stuffing chaos all happened simultaneously, not even spanning more than a few seconds.

"I will rip you to pieces and plant them across this planet." Apate spat in anger, as she suppressed the burning pain of chaos with her divinity and healed her injuries.

Amy looked at the goddess's arm which reattached itself, being as good as new again, and smirked, "I'm going to enjoy this." She muttered under her breath with a sadistic grin on her face.

Apate looked at the ignorant mortal who was laughing at her threat and became even more angry.

"It's that bitch Gauri, isn't it? She's the one who saved you. She's the one who got you out." Apate said as she waved her hand, creating numerous illusions of herself all around Amy. "That's why you got the courage to act arrogant. But guess what, even she can't do anything to me. She's…"

"I don't need her to defeat you." Amy spoke as she held the sword in front of her face and then slashed it down, forming a rift in space. "I alone am enough."

As Amy's words finished, all of Apate's illusion got sucked in space, revealing the only real her in the open again.

Before Apate could realize what happened, Amy didn't miss this chance and hung her body onto hers like a koala.

Apate felt the burning sensation all over her skin and flipped her palms. The ground they were standing on instantly cracked as a blast of energy turned it into cinders.

The figures of Apate and Amy flew into the air after the propulsion,_ so high that Amy couldn't even see the ground and had trouble breathing. Yet despite it all, she didn't let go.

She poured all her mana without restraint into making a barrier which froze the space around both of them. So even when the goddess tried to punch, slap, or stab her _ Amy's body still kept holding onto hers.

Apate looked at the mortal in front of her who was bleeding from her ears and nose, yet still maintained her hold. And couldn't help but get angry.

"Let go, you stupid ant. How dare you defile the divine with your filthy hands." She shouted, her roar almost melting the skin on Amy's face.

Yet the stupid girl didn't seem to feel a thing. If anything, it was Apate, who felt that after her attack the burning sensation of chaos had increased further.

Apate was a goddess who didn't like much fighting. Instead of wars and battles, she enjoyed the thrill of toying with her prey and playing sick games with them using her illusions until they surrendered, or died_ that's why this scene around her was making her feel infuriating.

This reversal of roles was annoying her.

And that's why, in anger she did something no gods were allowed. She channeled her divinity and directly used it to attack Amy.

Amy's blood red pupils felt a sting as she felt a divine aura oozing from Apate's body, which disappeared the next second.

[You have broken the rules set by the supreme will. According to Arcadian laws of balance, divine beings cannot directly attack mortals.]

[A suitable punishment is being drawn.]

[...]

Apate looked at the string of messages in front of her, and clicked her tongue in displeasure. She shouldn't have acted on impulse.

But now that she had already broken the rules and gotten the punishment, there was no need to let this mortal go.

Apate was about to blast this pest with her divinity, ending the cycle of reincarnation for her soul _ when she felt… . nothing.

"What?" She looked at her hands in confusion and then waved them again.

But this time too nothing happened.

And so did next time.

and the one after that.

Apate kept trying to wave her hand in different styles, trying to sense her divinity or channel her power but felt nothing. Her face went from the initial confusion to final fear as she looked up and saw a smirk on Amy's face.

"I told you, I was enough." Amy said and snapped her fingers.

The sound seemed particularly loud in Apate's ears and she couldn't help but curse as she watched the world around them change and morph into a different reality.

Apate fiercely struggled to break free from the restraints that tied all her limbs, watching as different torture tools started appearing on her bedside.

"What was that about cutting me into thousands and planting me across the planet.. let's start with that." Amy said as she started picking out sharp weapons one by one from the rack and checking their edges.

Apate looked at the damned mortal's manic eyes and couldn't help but shake her back. Trying to wipe the mark of seal Amy made on her skin using chaos magic.

'Damn bitch, using my magic against myself.' Apate cursed and couldn't help but recall the time when Amy hugged her and refused to let go. She should've known this bitch was upto something, but instead of scurrying away, she flew high and wanted to throw this mortal down_ who knew in the few seconds when she was stunned under the world system's punishment _Amy would carve out the mark her follower Cody used on her forehead few hours ago.

"You think this can hold me, I'll soon break out of it, and then I'll kill you. No, not only you, I'll kill your entire family. Anyone who's ever met you, known you, or even heard of you_ I'll kill all of ..."

Apate was still going on about her threats when the world around her suddenly turned dark. The last thing she saw was a small silver scalpel, size of a finger zooming in on her eyes.

Amy watched patiently as the straight cut she made on the goddess's eyes was healed instantly and the torn pupils were restored back. "I told you, I'm going to enjoy this." Amy said with a suppressed chuckle as she stabbed the scalpel in Apate's skin and dragged it downwards.

###

Author notes - Yupp, Amy was lucky. She had the plan to use Apate's mark on her from the beginning. She wasn't sure if it would work, but it was just one of the few methods she thought of. Others were a little bit more extreme - like blasting her body and calling her parents, sacrificing the divine artifacts and making a deal with some 'business' gods/demons. Letting chaos consume her body so that Gauri is forced to appear and interfere.

But thankfully luck was on her side as right when she was carving the mark with chaos, Apate was distracted and stunned by the world system's punishment.

What her specific punishment was, you'd know a few chaps later. Don't worry.

(Ps direct attacks are banned. Word direct is quite loose, leaving many loopholes for gods to play around. But apate being apate… well, she's inexperienced, or rusty if u call it.)

—- ohh and yeah she thought of this idea after she watched her brother play the guessing game in the kitchen in previous illusion.

(What you thought I just wrote that to show some 'fingering' actions. You perverted readers. You guessed wrong.)
