Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Pursuit and Elimination

Mist shinobi attacks rained down like a meteor shower—relentless and unending.

"Water Style: Water Formation Pillar!"

One of the Mist shinobi unleashed a powerful jutsu, roaring as a torrent surged from his mouth like a dam bursting open. The devastating stream hit three people directly with overwhelming force.

Torifu reached out and grabbed the nearest teammate—Aburame Shibi—but Kiyosuke was too far.

"Kiyosuke!"

He shouted.

Kiyosuke looked back and yelled, "Captain! Get out of here! They won't catch me!"

He took a deep breath, grabbed hold of Samehada, and dove into the water, letting the blade carry him away.

"Mei, take your team and bring that Konoha brat back to me!"

The Mist commander gave the order, and three figures shot forward in pursuit of Kiyosuke, while the commander himself chased after Torifu and the others.

...

Meanwhile, Kiyosuke flowed with the current, slipping into the river and swimming upstream.

Relying on Samehada, he moved swiftly through the water, occasionally surfacing to breathe.

He hadn't chosen to fully merge with Samehada. While fusion would let him breathe underwater and even increase his combat strength by turning into a half-human, half-fish hybrid, it came with risks. If he lost control, Samehada could overpower him and run wild.

Without strong chakra suppression and sufficient strength, no one could keep that blade in check. The only reason Kiyosuke could was because Samehada hated heat.

A cowardly little thing—powerful, but it only bullied the weak.

Right now, all that mattered was running. If the Mist shinobi caught up, things would get ugly—especially since he was still in a fully physical state.

Chakra wasn't a problem. Fuguki Suikazan had hoarded tons of chakra in Samehada without ever using it. Now, a portion had been transferred to Kiyosuke. It was like having a portable battery—an extremely useful one at that.

Once he felt he'd gained enough distance, Kiyosuke surfaced, climbed ashore, leaned against a tree to catch his breath, then evaporated the water from his body. Slinging Samehada over his shoulder, he moved on.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Shuriken came flying.

Kiyosuke swung Samehada, knocking them away. He looked up—and spotted three figures standing on a tree branch nearby: two men and a girl.

What caught his attention most was the girl. She had long, wavy chestnut hair, similar to Fuguki Suikazan's, pale skin, and delicate, beautiful features. She was even prettier than Pakura. Her piercing green eyes held a sharp edge, and she looked to be around the same age as Kiyosuke.

"Tch. Mist pursuers, huh? But only three of you? That feels a bit arrogant."

He pointed Samehada at them with a grin. As long as they weren't three Jonin, he wasn't worried.

"Arrogant bastard! We're not your average Mist shinobi. Lady Mei, allow me to take him down!"

The young man beside the girl—gray short hair, tiger fangs—spoke up with a bloodthirsty grin.

"I want in too," said the other youth, whose palm extended a sharp bone spike—clearly a member of the Kaguya clan.

"Genzuki. Taketori. Don't be rash," Mei warned. "Genzuki, his body is quite similar to yours. Don't underestimate him."

Gozuki Genzuki protested, "Lady Mei, are you underestimating me? The Hydrification Technique of the Hōzuki clan isn't something some fake can compare to. Just watch."

Without another word, he drew his blade and charged.

"Lady Mei, are we really going to just let him go like that?" Kaguya Taketori asked.

"Forget it. You know how stubborn he is. Once he sets his mind, we can't stop him. Just keep an eye on things. And Taketori, hold back. We're here to capture him, not kill him."

"Understood."

Taketori nodded, eyes filled with respect and admiration as he looked at Mei.

...

Genzuki charged in at top speed, slashing down with his blade.

Kiyosuke was forced back several steps, his wrist numbed by the impact.

"Damn, that's some strength."

He looked at Genzuki again—the arm holding the blade had swollen noticeably, thicker than his other one.

Water Style: Great Water Arm Technique.

By concentrating all the water in the body into the arm, it boosted strength dramatically. Paired with a blade, it could cut through iron gates and rock walls.

Kiyosuke looked at the swollen limb with a strange expression.

Genzuki paused, raising his blade and snapping,

"Hey! What the hell are you muttering about? Hand over Samehada! It belongs to me!"

"Oh? Big talk. You think saying it makes it yours? Try calling it—see if it answers."

"Hmph! I'll kill you and take it!"

He released the Great Water Arm technique, his arm returning to normal, then gripped his blade in both hands and lunged.

Kiyosuke hefted Samehada.

"If you don't behave, I'll roast you!"

"Whiiiine—"

Samehada let out a reluctant growl. Threatened by Kiyosuke, it gave in.

"Good boy!"

He swung it with full force.

CLANG!

Genzuki stumbled back, his blade trembling in his hands, arms numb.

"You can actually control Samehada?!"

If he couldn't, Samehada would've already pierced his hand with its spikes. But more than that—he could command it. That meant...

A shadow flickered in his eyes.

He suddenly smirked. "I heard you're afraid of Water Style. Funny thing—that's what I'm best at."

Kiyosuke raised an eyebrow as Genzuki formed hand seals. But before the jutsu could activate, Kiyosuke raised a hand and blasted fire.

"Water Style: Water Fang Bullet!"

Fire met water—and this time, the flames were extinguished. The spiraling water drill surged forward.

Samehada opened its mouth wide—and swallowed it whole.

"Nice work!"

Kiyosuke patted the blade and laughed, then threw a punch.

"Fire Fist!"

A massive flaming fist launched forward.

"Water Style: Water Formation Wall!"

Genzuki quickly drew from the river behind him, erecting a wall of water to block the flames.

But in the next instant, a figure charged through the water wall. Samehada tore through the jutsu, revealing Kiyosuke's grinning face.

The sword came crashing down.

Too fast. Genzuki couldn't raise his blade in time. His whole body turned to liquid.

"A water clone?"

Kiyosuke frowned, watching the puddle at his feet, then looked up at Mei and Taketori.

"Alright. Guess it's your turn now."

Dragging Samehada along the ground, he walked past the puddle.

Slowly, the water reformed behind him, taking on Genzuki's shape once more. He sneered at Kiyosuke's back, raising both hands—shaped like finger guns—aimed at Kiyosuke's spine and skull.

Quietly, he whispered, "Die.

Water Style: Dual Water Gun Technique."

No hand seals.

A secret jutsu passed down through generations of the Hōzuki clan—one that fired chakra bullets with incredible piercing power.
