I'm the Spider

Chapter 4: Sub-Skills

'No, I'm missing something. There must be something I'm missing,' Arthur thought, closing his eyes. thinking, he suddenly remembered that in the letter he read about him having some great skills. Remembering what he read in the letter, he quickly opened his eyes with shock. and quickly asked the Spirit Ally,

"Spirit Ally, you said I have three main skills. What about my sub-skills? That means I have sub-skills too, right?"

"Yes, you have two sub-skills," Spirit Ally replied.

Hearing he still had two sub-skills in his arsenal, Arthur smiled. Thinking there was still a chance—if one of these two skills, if any one skill, could help him kill or give him some advantage against that monstrous creature with strange abilities—then he had a higher chance to survive in this place.

With some hope in his eyes, Arthur asked again to Spirit Ally,

"Spirit Ally, tell me, what do these two sub-skills do?"

"Your first sub-skill allows you to walk on any ground, wall, and ceiling with your four legs," Spirit Ally replied. Saying that Arthur could walk on any straight wall as well as ceilings, like insects in his previous world.

Hearing that with his first sub-skill he could walk on any surface, Arthur's expression was not happy nor sad. 'Not bad; it will help me survive, at least,' he thought, understanding this sub-skill was more useful than his other main skills.

Then he quickly asked again, "What is my second sub-skill?"

"Your second sub-skill is a spider web that you can control with your will," Spirit Ally replied, saying that like other spiders, Arthur had a spider web he could use at will.

Hearing about his second sub-skill, Arthur was still not happy, nor was he sad. He thought, remembering what he read in the letter, 'This is not bad. Actually, I have two important sub-skills: I can climb anywhere, and with a spider web, I can create tricks. With this, I can survive in this place if I use these skills carefully.'

Thinking that if he carefully used both sub-skills, he could survive this dangerous place, Arthur's eyes shone with hope. "Yes, I can do this..." Arthur thought, looking up and moving his hand with happiness.

"What a strange spider..." a beetle standing in front of Arthur thought with a strange look on its face. The beetle was not visible to Arthur's eyes as it was blending with the cave light, making itself invisible to Arthur.

The beetle had four legs it was standing on, two arms it placed on the ground, and a big head with two eyes watching Arthur and a mouth.

Suddenly, the beetle's senses caught something. Without being noticed by Arthur, the beetle jumped from the top wall.

'I know I have three important main skills. The best skill I have is Death Eater. With this skill, I can dominate this place. Also, I don't think Spirit Ally can only talk—she must have the power to do other things too, I guess. And the third skill, Prince Mana... mana means I can use magic. This is a magical world, so this skill is helpful too. I just need to find out how I can learn magic. Maybe I can ask Spirit Ally; she might know,' Arthur thought.

"Spirit Ally, do you know how I can learn magic?" Arthur asked.

"Yes! You can learn magic by combining your mana with your thoughts and controlling both at the same time." Arthur was shocked that Spirit Ally knew how to use magic. His curiosity about Spirit Ally grew.

"Tell me how you know how to use magic, and what else you can do," Arthur asked with curiosity about what exactly Spirit Ally, as a main skill, could do.

"I have limited knowledge about this world, including the things that exist in this world. Since magic is also part of this world, I have knowledge about magic as well. Also, I'm still not fully developed as a skill yet, so I'm unaware of my power and knowledge," Spirit Ally replied, saying she had knowledge about the world Arthur was born into and the things that existed in this world. Yet, since she was still not fully developed as a skill, she didn't know her full power.

Hearing Spirit Ally, Arthur finally smiled. Arthur knew how important knowledge was. Arthur was a person who thought more tactically. He believed in brains more than muscle. Having something that had knowledge about the world and things that existed in this world made Arthur's heart beat with happiness. 'Finally, I'm feeling alive... but why?' he thought, trying to understand why he was feeling happy—was it because he had the power to survive, or the power to dominate? Arthur thought for a bit about his weird behavior, then quickly realized that he didn't have time to think about this for now and came back to the present.

"So you know about this world and the things that exist in this world? That's a really good thing. With your support, I'll be unstoppable," Arthur said to Spirit Ally, realizing that with this knowledge, he could become unstoppable. Arthur again realized something different about himself—something about power, that he somehow wanted more power, but he didn't know why. 'I'll think about this later,' he thought, focusing on the current important matter he had.

"Yes...! Maybe," Spirit Ally replied, knowing she didn't know if with her help Arthur would dominate or not. Hearing Spirit Ally's reply, Arthur understood why Spirit Ally replied like that.

"So do you know where we are? Actually, how do you even know? Can you see what I see, or do you just tell with magic power?" Arthur asked, trying to find out where he was actually born, so he could think about a plan.

"You are currently in a dungeon named Red. And yes, I can see only what you see, and I only see when you ask me to," Spirit Ally replied, saying that she could only perform actions when Arthur commanded her or asked her. She could only see when Arthur asked her to and only see what he was seeing.

"Ohhh, so we're in a dungeon named Red. That's why there are so many monsters around here. And about how you work, it's actually a good thing—my privacy will be safe now," Arthur replied, understanding why there were so many monsters around him and feeling happy again that Spirit Ally couldn't disturb his privacy.

"Do you also hear what I hear? And also feel what I feel? And what about my thoughts? I guess you can read my thoughts too, and we can communicate without talking, right?" Trying to understand how Spirit Ally worked, Arthur ended up asking Spirit Ally many questions, forgetting how close the danger was...
