Chapter 6: - The Girl of Exceptional Talent - Interlude

── That girl was undeniably what you might call a ‘genius.’

However, in reality, those who had met her found it rather presumptuous to label her as a ‘genius,’ and they all used a different term.

── ‘The Witch of Untapped Talents’

Unbeknownst to her, that title eventually became associated with her.

In martial arts, academics, etiquette, and the arts, among others, she effortlessly surpassed those who were referred to as ‘geniuses’ with just a touch.

Those who came into contact with her would invariably say,

“If it’s her, there’s nothing we can do.”

Because of this, the girl no longer engaged in serious competitions.

Once she got serious, no one would ever stand before her again.

The absence of someone to compete with left her with an eternity to contemplate.

The ‘loneliness’ brought about by her overflowing talents gradually eroded her.

This girl’s name was ‘Shizuku Ichinose.’

Silver hair and emerald-colored eyes. At an age where emotions and temperaments should be in constant flux, her expression was consistently filled with boredom.

The young girl sat on the veranda, gazing at the sky as it slowly turned crimson.

And when the crimson started to resemble the deep sea, she was suddenly addressed from behind.

“Tomorrow, I’ll be leaving home. I’m not worried about you, but don’t leave the barrier, alright?”

“Yeah, I understand… So, where are you going?”

“To visit an old comrade.”

“Oh, I see. Is something happening?”

Shizuku, with her keen intuition, inquired of the man—her father.

“…It seems there are traces of yokai.”

“I see.”

Her father was going out, and it appeared that it wasn’t just an ordinary yokai causing concern.

Watching from the sidelines might help pass the time, even if it was a bit boring.

She wanted to accompany him. However, she knew it wasn’t allowed.

So, Shizuku swallowed those words.

“Farewell,” she said with an unchanging tone, still gazing at the sky.

“Alright,” came the response, and after that, the footsteps receded, and the presence vanished.

And then, in a voice filled with yearning, the girl whispered,

“Someday, I’m sure… someone will appear to rescue me from this boredom.”

Ten or so years later, the girl who was originally supposed to kill Tenchi found herself wishing to create a rose-shaped ice flower in her palm.
