Chapter 6: I’ve Had Enough! Let’s Hit the City!
Chapter 6: I’ve Had Enough! Let’s Hit the City!
“I can’t take this anymore! Yake, get ready for a forced breakout with me. Today, I’m going against the current and climbing over this mountain!”
Waking up, I was greeted by the sight of rain still pouring outside. Aierjisi was absolutely furious. What kind of weather was this?! There should be a limit to how unreasonable it can get. I’ve already slept through two naps, and it’s still raining! If there’s a god responsible for controlling the weather, it must be a blue-haired, silly loli, and I swear I’ll spank her until she begs for mercy!
“Aier, let’s wait a bit longer. Maybe the rain will stop if we just hang tight.”
Yake remained in his laid-back state. Encountering continuous bad weather on a journey was just normal. It was just heavy rain, and for them hiding in a cave, it wasn’t really a threat at all. Besides, they had enough food supplies to last until the downpour ended. After all, there’s no way it could rain for ten days straight, right?
“I can’t wait any longer! This downpour shows no signs of stopping; it’s pouring like crazy. How could it suddenly just stop?!”
“Hasn’t it already stopped?”
“Huh?”
Aierjisi turned her head to look outside the cave she had been pointing at. Indeed, at some point, the rain had ceased. With no more clouds covering the sky, the sun shone down on the earth again.
“Whoa! What kind of world is this? That heavy rain just stopped like that? This is just unscientific!!!”
Aierjisi knelt on the ground. This world was way too unreasonable—the weather changes way too quickly! A torrential downpour lasting an entire day and night, then it just stops! Who wrote the code for this game world? Don’t they know how many bugs are ruining the gaming experience!?
“Alright. The heavy rain has stopped, and we should leave now. However, the mountain path after the rain might be a little tricky.”
Yake packed up their overnight gear and extinguished the fire. He left the cave with the Little Princess, continuing their trek up the dirt road toward the mountain’s peak.
“Ugh. My shoes are all muddy now! Yake, why don’t you carry me? Or you can just hold me; I don’t want to step in that muck anymore.”
Looking at her white shoes now caked in mud, the Little Princess felt rather uncomfortable. She decided it was better to have Yake carry her to avoid stepping in the dirty mud.
“Sigh. This Little Princess is quite pampered, huh? Alright, I guess as your servant, I must obey your orders. Please hold on tight now, the slope is bumpy; just don’t fall off!”
Yake hoisted the Little Princess onto his back. He dashed toward the mountain top with her on his back. After mastering the body enhancement technique alongside the Little Princess, it was a piece of cake to carry a lightweight, frail little loli to the summit.
“Whoa! Yake, slow down a bit! I’m going to fall!”
To ensure she didn’t tumble, Aierjisi clung desperately to Yake’s shoulders, causing him a bit of shoulder pain. But he couldn’t complain; if he did, she would just retort, “Isn’t it because you’re running too fast?!”
“Alright, we’ve successfully reached the peak. Huh? Why is the ground in the city so dry? It rained for an entire day and night!”
Upon reaching the top, Yake looked down at the city at the mountain’s foot, appearing perplexed. Could it be that the downpour had only hit their part of the area? How unlucky could he be!
“Wow! Yake, that town is huge! It’s much bigger than Chester Town where you live!”
Aierjisi’s eyes sparkled as she gazed at the sprawling city below. This was her first time seeing such a large human city!
“Of course! Bield City is one of the top industrial cities in the entire kingdom. Merchants from Chester Town often come here to buy supplies. This is your first time seeing it, right?”
“Uh-huh.”
The Little Princess nodded, and Yake smirked, straightening his legs.
“Alright then, you must hold on tight from here on out. The downhill path is a lot trickier than the uphill. I’ll be racing down the mountain. Once we get to the city, we’ll find a fancy inn for you to enjoy the luxurious services of the big city! Let’s go!”
“Wait—ah!!!”
Before Aierjisi could finish her sentence, Yake dashed down toward the city. The Little Princess had no choice but to cling tightly to Yake, quivering against his back.
Three minutes later…
“Here are our Adventurer Qualification Certificates. May we enter the city now?”
At the entrance, Yake and Aierjisi presented their Adventurer Qualification Certificates to the guards on duty. With this proof that they weren’t suspicious characters, they should be able to enter the city.
“Mm. This is the real deal. No problem. Please both of you register your personal information here, and then you can enter.”
One of the older guards checked their badges, confirmed they were authentic, and handed them back.
“Ugh. We still need to register? This is such a hassle.”
“There’s no way around it. This order comes directly from the City Lord, and we can only comply.”
The guard sighed as he brought out the registration book. With all the comings and goings in Bield City, they had to keep track of who entered the city, which significantly increased the guards’ workload. They weren’t pleased about it, but after the City Lord generously offered each guard three gold coins as compensation, those grumbles quickly disappeared.
“Alright. This should be good enough.”
After filling out his and Aierjisi’s details, Yake returned the registration book to the guard. He confirmed everything was in order, and the guard gladly allowed them to enter the city.
“Whoa! This really is a big human metropolis! It looks so vibrant!”
As she admired the large shops lining the streets, Aierjisi could hardly contain her curiosity and rushed over to see what each store sold. Yake followed closely, ensuring the Little Princess didn’t accidentally wander off.
Meanwhile, at the City Lord’s Mansion, a slightly plump man sat in a chair, reviewing documents on his desk.
“City Lord, here’s the list of people who registered at the south gate today.”
“Oh, good work. Just leave it here.”
“Yes.”
After the secretary placed the documents on the desk and left the room, the City Lord immediately paused his paperwork and reached for that registration book to see if the names included the one he had been waiting for.
【Aelgiss Platin】
“Finally, I’ve been waiting for you, my third guest.”
Upon seeing the name he had been eagerly anticipating, the City Lord couldn’t help but smile enigmatically.
