Chapter 326: Failure.
The ghostly face of a middle-aged man with a terrifying smile formed on the mist.
"I can give you-"
Before the man in the mist was able to speak any further, Loki directed the grey fog to enhance his ability and stole the piece of soul from the tiara.
The soul transformed into a rune and Loki tossed it to the little greedy ring which immediately opened its mouth wide and swallowed the soul as a whole.
Almost immediately, the Ring of Harvest spat out the Beyonder characteristics of a Sequence 4 Demon.
But surprisingly, it didn't stop there. The ring slowly began to transform and to Loki's shock, it turned slightly intangible, like the mist that had escaped from the Tiara.
Loki wanted to do nothing other than toss away the small ring thinking it had gotten corrupted, but he patiently examined it using his spirit vision and found no sign of corruption in it.
Instead, Loki found that the runes on the ring had 'evolved'.
'This symbol…it's for danger?'
Suddenly an idea struck Loki which he quickly tested out.
Pointing his wand at himself, Loki created the strong intent of using the 'Confringo' charm to burn himself. But the second he primed his wand with spirituality to launch the charm he felt the ring become hot.
'It works!!!!'
'The ring obtained the ability to detect danger!!'
A smile graced Loki's lips and made him pretty happy, after that he looked at the two Beyonder Characteristics of the Abyss pathway he had, and Loki decided he'd make them into items that would detect danger too.
'It shouldn't be too difficult to do such a thing now since I can utilise the Ring of Harvest as a reference.'
Loki exited the Sefirah castle and bestowed the ring to himself, and after a few seconds walked back to the gate of the Room of Requirements that he now knew the name of.
"You're here.", Helena said, her eyes a little dilated as she was using spirit vision to check Loki for any signs of corruption or such. "And you seem to be alright."
Loki nodded and then held out his hand for Helena to shake, "I hope to wake your mother up soon, I will let you know once it is done. Until then I'm keeping this fantastic piece of rune work." Loki said showing the Tiara he was holding in his other hand.
Helena came close to the metallic object and looked at it with a little sorrow. "Father gifted this to Mother. She later enchanted it to help me with magic. I remember the days she worked hard to help me study magic. I was naive then and didn't want to do anything that involved books."
"...how did you become the ghost of Ravenclaw then?" Loki joked to bring the mood up.
Helena shook her head and smiled, "Because after she left me, I started to follow the tracks she left behind at Hogwarts to find her. It was only a few centuries ago that I learnt of her slumber through a clue she'd left behind. From then on I chose to become the ghost of Ravenclaw. Through her clues, she said I would eventually find someone who could wake her up."
Loki's eyes widened and then his eyes met Helena's, "So that's why you trusted you-know-who. Because you thought your mother meant him."
Helena nodded.
"...she should be back soon.", Loki said with a smile.
Helena smiled and then asked, "If you ever need my help with something, let me know."
Loki nodded and then walked out of the Room of Requirements with Helena. After bidding her farewell, Loki walked towards the dungeons using the elaborate set of moving staircases in the castle.
On a random step, Loki opened the marauder's map.
'Hmm…and….she's gone.' Loki thought as he looked at Helena's name on the map, watching her slip into the Ravenclaw tower, probably going there to reminisce a few memories she was fond off.
As if reading his mind and knowing what he was about to do next, the stairs redirected him to the seventh floor.
Loki patted the railings and mumbled, "Good Hogwarts." and he could swear the stairs started moving a little faster with renewed vigour.
Arriving in front of the Room of Requirements once again, Loki entered the area where the crystals in which the founders of the school he was currently in were trapped.
With a happy stride, Loki pranced to the crystal with Rowena Ravenclaw inside it.
'As if I'd let Helena know about this place.'
'I don't think she's a snitch, but I wouldn't trust a thousand-year-old lady with my secrets. Even if she didn't want to tell anyone about it, I'm pretty sure she's accrued debts that can't be refused and any one of those could be used to learn more about me.'
Arriving in front of Rowena Loki looked at the peacefully sleeping witch and then at the golden basket where he had to place the Tiara.
Loki wanted to learn more about the rune work on the tiara so he didn't immediately place it in the basket. Instead, he moved to the table and began to take notes about all its runes.
'I could've just asked Helena about it, but it gives me goosebumps just imagining looking at complex rune work on this bad girl.'
'I'm pretty sure I should be able to figure it out by tomorrow.'
Time slowly ticked away and at around seven in the morning, having pulled an allnighter, Loki looked at the tiara with a frown on his face.
'This thing…it's useless.'
'All it does is help you think faster…'
'If I hadn't already checked it thoroughly I'd have thought it was made from the Beyonder Characteristics of a Cryptologist.'
'It's made from the Beyonder Characteristic from the Savant pathway.'
'And there's so many mistakes in the rune work…'
'If someone submitted this as their capstone project in Professor Babbling's class they'd fail.'
'Was this Rowena's level?'
Even though Loki was exaggerating the facts a little, he still didn't think that the great Rowena Ravenclaw who invented magic, would make something so useless.
Loki frowned and then he shook his head, 'No need to delay this any more.'
With heavy steps, Loki walked towards Rowena's crystal and tossed the tiara into her begging bowl.
Loki stepped back, calm about what was going to happen now since he'd already been through this once.
And as per routine, a small amount of spirituality slipped out of the crystal Rowena was in. The small wisp gathered around the tiara and seeped into it.
And just when Loki was expecting the light works to start, the wisp rejected the tiara and slipped back into the Crystal.
'Huh?'
'What?'
Loki did a double take and almost stumbled when the wisp rejected the tiara.
'Seriously!!??'
'This is not the most important item that she desires!?'
'All this was for nothing!?!?'
'I nearly fought an outer god for this thing!!!'
With a frown, Loki left the Room of Requirements and went about attending the classes for the day.
He had a prominent frown that everyone noticed and was clearly in a bad mood.
Daphne was the only one who even attempted to understand Loki's bad mood because she guessed whatever he asked her about hadn't gone well, or at least not as Loki had hoped it would, especially since he hadn't taken the luck charm from her yet.
But even when she tried asking him about it, Loki brushed the topic away, not to keep her away from it, but because Loki was confused himself.
'What's the most important thing in her life then?'
'Salazar was so simple, it was his locket.'
'What about you oh great magic inventing lady…'
