Chapter 54.2
“Lady, are you here? I’ve prepared the bathwater, so please come in your gown.”
I heard the sound of the door opening on the opposite side. It was the voice of a maid who often took care of me.
“I’ll be there soon.”
The maid went to the bathroom and closed the door.
‘Ah, I’m so tired.’
I could barely stand, so I sat in front of the mirror. Suddenly, I looked at myself in the mirror.
‘Come to think of it…’
A creepy memory from the darkness.
‘He touched me.’
I touched my forehead. That person touched me in the darkness.
Who could that person be?
‘Did Claire confess about the accomplice?’
Claire was clumsy today and made many mistakes.
‘Was it really Claire who came up with this plan?’
A chilling shiver ran down my spine.
‘I have to tell Collen…’
An accomplice touching me in the dark. At first, I thought it was right to tell the guardian about it.
I was wearing a coat over a messed-up silk dress.
First, I need to take a bath… and find Collen.
I hurriedly took off my coat.
Plop.
But as I took off my coat, something fell from my arms.
“Huh? What is this…?”
My hand trembled. This is…
“Ah!”
I involuntarily screamed.
Several red flowers spilled from my arms.
Thump, thump!
“Leticia, what’s wrong?”
I heard Jade knocking on the door.
I collapsed to the ground.
‘That’s a flower left by a very bad person. A very, very bad person.’
I recalled what Collen said about the red flowers.
Flowers scattered around my knees.
They were red trumpet flowers with golden lines on them.
* * *
The sound of hooves pounding the ground filled the air. I watched a horse galloping outside the window.
Collen was riding on it. As soon as I found the flower, I ran to Collen’s room.
“Dad! We have to go to the palace! We need to interrogate Claire ourselves!”
It was natural for Collen’s face to change as he looked at the flower in my hand.
“Did she touch you?”
“That’s not the problem! The person who left the clue of the red flower was inside the secret passage!”
I told Collen what happened in the underground passage.
Collen headed straight to the palace to catch Claire.
‘He was Claire’s accomplice.’
The person Collen had called a very bad person. The person who left the red flower before I came here.
‘He was right in front of me.’
He was close enough to kill me, or kidnap me instead of Lavigne. Very close. He was there.
‘Who are you?’
I thought as I looked at the red flowers scattered in my hand. The flowers were meaninglessly crumbling in my hands.
