Chapter 32: Chapter 32
"Hmm, an arrow on wrist, you say. You must have pissed someone off more than usual. This organization does nothing but nasty things."
Don began tapping his finger on his desk with dissatisfaction. "There will be some trouble with them, but overall... I was going to get rid of them anyway. Apparently I'll have to speed up my plans. I'll let you know when I find out something."
The man ended the conversation, leaving Darell to himself. His fist slammed furiously on the desk. A momentary pain made itself felt, jolting him from his chaotic thoughts. There was nothing he could do but wait for news from his friend. His rage prevented him from thinking rationally. He couldn't think of anything else but Sophie and what had happened to her.
Don, mentioning that they were among the worst, did not console him with this news. However, he couldn't afford such behavior. Don was looking for the kidnappers. He'll find who hired them.
"Zick, I'll be at your place in 15 minutes. I need you to help me find someone" He said into the phone before quickly leaving Sophie's apartment.
Zick was one of the best hackers in the country. He happened to have his hands on Darell's fortune and was unfortunately found by Don. Fortunately, Darell decided that someone like Zick would be useful to him and took him under his wing. Driving up to the small house, the man walked to its door and knocked twice.
After a moment, he saw an emaciated, tall man with dark brown hair and blue eyes with dark circles under them. He was wearing an oversized T-shirt and baggy sweatpants.
"Boss" The man nodded in greeting, inviting him inside. Quickly, they both went down to the basement, where they saw a view as if from a secret CIA office. The darkness was lit by several monitors placed next to each other, displaying various things. There were stacks of energy cans on the desk, next to the keyboard and mouse.
"Don told you who to look for?" He stood next to Zick, who immediately started typing on the keyboard.
"Yes, I have already managed to break into them and review most of their cases. Afterwards, he told me to wipe their accounts to zero. Apparently they don't have much time left" He replied without taking his eyes off the monitors.
"Before you do that, find me who recently transferred money to them. I want the whole list. Who they are, where they live and what they do. I want everything." He clenched his fists furiously again, unable to wait to see his Sophie again.
"On it boss" The man sped up his typing. New information and data kept appearing on the screens until something caught Darell's eye.
"Wait! Show the last upload again"
Zick quickly returned the latest data to the monitor in front of the man.
"I'll kill this fucking bastard!" He shouted menacingly. "Where is he now?"
Feeling the piercing cold behind his back, the man quickly found his location, which he sent to his boss's phone.
With the instructions on his phone, Darell didn't wait any longer. He shot out of the house as if he had been hit and drove away with a screech of tires. Zick, knowing that this could end badly, informed Don about this fact.
"Good job, kid. I'll get my guys out there in a minute"
Zick, sighing heavily, opened another can. After a few sips, he returned to his search. He will be able to rest only after everything is over.
After several dozen minutes of driving, Darell pulled up to one of the villas in the west of the city. He got out of the car and was about to walk towards the gate when several cars blocked his path. One of the men dressed in black approached him when at the same time several armed men entered the building.
"The boss told me to tell you that we will take care of everything. Please wait in the car and when we're done, you can follow us." He informed him while returning next to one of the cars.
Furious, Darell got into the car and angrily slammed the door behind him. He knew he would only get himself in trouble if he was the one to go in there, but the anger he felt right now needed to find an opening somewhere.
A few minutes later, Don's men came out of the villa with two large bags, which they threw into the trunks. As they set off, Darell followed them.
The sun slowly began to emerge from the horizon. Another day was just starting. Several hours have passed since Sophie was kidnapped...
There was a car parked next to an abandoned house far from civilization, about two hours' drive from the city. It was virtually invisible, hidden between many trees and away from the main road. There was no one in the car that kidnapped Sophie.
Inside the dilapidated house, however, there was one room that didn't fit in with the rest. Metal walls, thick steel doors that lock from the outside and no windows.
Inside this very room was unconscious Sophie, lying on an old mattress. Three men were sitting in the next room. Each of them had an arrow tattoo on their wrist. The kidnappers looked very dangerous and trained. Each of them was alert and had a weapon with him. They waited patiently for further orders from their boss.
The entire action went quickly and efficiently, without any problems. However, they had not yet received orders on what to do next, which only made them more vigilant. From time to time, one of them would make a round around the house, checking whether the area was safe.
"We can't stay here too long. We have to go to the next hideout. It will be safer there." Finally one of the kidnappers spoke up. The other two just nodded in understanding and all looked towards the metal door.
"She'll wake up soon. Give her something to drink before you put her to sleep again" He ordered as he left the building.
The men looked at each other and after a while one of them stood up, took a bottle of water and went to open the door. However, the moment he grabbed the doorknob, he was pushed back by the door and Sophie, with her hands tied behind her back, ran out of the room.
Unfortunately, she hadn't even taken a few steps when she was grabbed by the second man and brutally thrown back into the room. Sophie groaned in pain and glared at the men with fury. One of them walked up to her and knelt down next to her, removing the tape from her mouth.
"Drink" He looked at her dryly, showing that she had no chance against him.
Putting the bottle to her lips, he watched her carefully. This was her second attempt at escaping, which she failed. The kidnappers didn't mess around with her and clearly showed her that she wouldn't be able to do anything on her own.
Sophie looked at the man with disdain as she drank the water. As soon as she finished, the tape went back over her mouth and the door quickly closed. Sophie was left alone in the dark again.
At first she tried to find something to free herself, but there was literally nothing in the room except the mattress. She also didn't know how much time had passed since she was kidnapped. But she knew she had to leave some trace if Darell was looking for her.
He won't be able to sleep... She thought, imagining his tired face.
This was not the time for sadness. She had to find a way out of this. However, she was not allowed to think when some time later she heard the door opening. It was too soon for her to get something to drink again.
With difficulty, she took off Luka's ring, which she always wore on her pinky, and slipped it under the mattress. The door opened and one of the men approached her with a handkerchief in his hand. Seeing this, she tried to defend herself, but as soon as he put it to her nose, Sophie fell asleep.
The kidnapper threw the woman over his shoulder and put her in the trunk of the car.
"Make sure you don't leave any traces behind," One of the trio said as he packed the rest of their things into the car. Getting into the car, they slowly drove away along the path towards the main road. Their next target was another hideout that was much more secure than this one.
"Boss, our drones have located an abandoned building about 80 km from the city. The kidnappers' car was last seen in this direction" Someone reported to Don on the phone.
"Check this out" The man put the phone down on the desk and stroked his chin with his hand.
"Call Zick and give him the coordinates. Have him check if any camera catches their car on the road next to this house" He ordered his subordinate standing next to him.
"They've definitely changed their hiding place." He said to himself.
"And hurry him to locate their boss. I'm looking forward to meeting him" A menacing smile appeared on his face. This time they messed with the wrong people.
Around 2 p.m. on the same day, the phone rang in an office.
"Speak"
"Boss, we managed to locate the car. They are moving to another location. Our people are following them."
"Okay. For now, just watch. I have a plane soon. I'll call you when I get there." The man with piercing green eyes finished the conversation and was about to leave when he was stopped.
"Anton" A man in his sixties approached him. He looked like an older version of the young man. Their appearance and eye color indicated that they were related.
"Why are you going there? I told you to stay away from her" The older man frowned.
"I won't stand by and watch my sister get kidnapped" With these words, he left the building, leaving the shocked older man behind.
