High School DxD: The Man Who Surpasses God

Chapter 20: The Battle Against Absalom (Part 1/4)

[THIRD PERSON POV]

The battle began with a roar as Arthur commanded his army of Terminators, Xenomorphs, Death Angels, etc.

The air filled with gunfire and screeches as the summons charged Absalom.

Gaster Blasters and Terminators fired at Absalom, and Arthur rode atop a dragon, leading an assault with its fiery breath.

The attacks engulfed Absalom, but when the flames subsided, he stood untouched.

"Pathetic."

Absalom said, his voice dripping with contempt.

He grabbed the dragon by the neck, snapping it effortlessly before hurling its lifeless body toward Arthur.

Arthur leaped from the dragon just in time, landing in a roll and charging forward with Excalibur Destruction.

Their weapons clashed, sparks flying as the holy sword met blood claws.

Absalom's strikes were heavy and brutal, his claws slashing through the air with precision.

Arthur parried desperately, each blow rattling his arms.

He managed to mark a glowing blue X on Absalom's chest and sent him flying upward with a burst of energy.

Arthur didn't waste the opportunity.

Summoning two massive blue magic circles above and below Absalom, he unleashed a torrent of fire and wind that struck from both sides.

Hundreds of bladed weapons materialized in the air, converging on Absalom in a storm of steel.

The explosion was deafening, shaking the ground beneath Arthur's feet.

But as the smoke cleared, Absalom emerged, his form unmarred save for minor cuts and bruises that healed instantly.

Arthur cursed under his breath as Observe confirmed his worst fears.

Absalom's health was back to full.

"Okay. That didn't work."

Arthur said, breathing heavily.

Absalom smiled darkly.

"How foolish."

Blood-red whips materialized in his hands, lashing out with terrifying speed.

Arthur activated Auto-Dodge and Future Sight, zipping around the battlefield.

The whips tore through the air where he'd stood moments earlier, cracking against the ground with explosive force.

Arthur fired back with an array of assault rifles, unloading bullets into Absalom while summoning more bladed weapons to rain down.

But the Blood God advanced, unrelenting.

When Death Angels and Ragnars swarmed him, their claws and fangs biting into his flesh, Absalom merely scowled.

"Do not touch me, you filth."

Blood tentacles erupted from his back, skewering and crushing the attackers with ease.

"Gaia, got any bright ideas?"

Arthur called out mentally as he dodged another strike.

(Try overwhelming him, then strike from a blind spot with Excalibur Destruction. It's the only weapon that can hurt him.)

Gaia's voice replied, calm but firm.

"But you said Holy attacks only work on Devils and Vampires, not Demons."

Arthur argued, narrowly avoiding a tentacle, and fired back with a Gaster Blaster.

(That was before we thought he was just an Evil God, but this is different. Absalom is a Nephalem, half Angel, half Demon. Back in the old days, I thought they were a myth, but remember that he is called the God of Vampires for a reason. Also, his current vessel is Manthar, a pure-blooded Vampire.)

Gaia said.

Arthur's eyes lit up as the gears in his head turned.

"And Vampires are weak to Holy energy."

He ordered all his summons to dog pile Absalom.

The battlefield erupted into chaos as Terminators, Xenomorphs, and Death Angels swarmed the blood god.

Absalom's laughter rang out, mocking their efforts.

"Hahahahaha! Such an ultimately futile attempt. Are you getting desperate, human?"

Arthur smirked and said.

"Nah, I'm just making sure you can't move an inch."

*Beep*

*Beep*

*Beep*

Hidden among the summons were numerous C4 explosives, their timers ticking down.

*BOOM!*

The detonations rocked the battlefield, engulfing Absalom in a fiery inferno.

Arthur teleported behind him, and he used Silence to conceal his presence.

As the smoke cleared, slashing the Excalibur Destruction that glowing red hot and is engulfed in flames.

"Meteor Impact!"

The fiery blade cut deep into Absalom's back, holy energy surging through the wound.

"AHH!"

Absalom howled in pain, the sound echoing through the ruined city.

Arthur glanced at Observe and grinned as he saw the cut wasn't healing.

"Yes! It worked!"

He shouted, his voice triumphant.

But Absalom turned to face him, his eyes blazing with fury.

"That actually hurt, I'll admit."

He growled.

"I suppose it is my turn to attack you."

Blood tentacles erupted from his body, and countless floating blood blades and blood bats materialized around him.

The air grew thick with killing intent as he raised his arms, his voice a roar.

"Prepare yourself, human!"

Arthur's expression hardened.

He summoned multiple magic circles and an arsenal of weapons around him.

Despite the odds, a smirk tugged at his lips.

"Bring it on, then!"

The two clashed again, the battlefield shaking with each collision.

Absalom's attacks were relentless, his tentacles and blades striking from every angle.

Arthur dodged and countered, unleashing Magic Spells, Summons, and slashes from his Holy Sword.

But as the battle raged on, Arthur began to learn the bitter truth.

He was outmatched.

The clash between Arthur and Absalom escalated to catastrophic levels as Arthur was hurled into a nearby building, crashing through concrete and steel.

"OH SHI-!"

*CRASH!*

The impact sent dust and debris flying, and he groaned in pain, feeling every muscle in his body scream.

"Oww... My everything..."

His vision blurred for a moment, but he forced himself to focus asa he knew he didn't have time to wallow.

Before he could even catch his breath, a crimson tentacle lashed out from the rubble, coiling tightly around his leg.

"Oh, come on!"

Arthur shouted in frustration, but the words barely left his lips before he was being swung like a ragdoll.

The ground cracked beneath him as the tentacle smashed him into the concrete, then swung him into a nearby building, the walls collapsing under the force.

Arthur gritted his teeth, summoning all his strength as he activated Excalibur Destruction, slashing through the blood-red appendage.

The severed tentacle writhed before dissolving into mist, and Arthur rolled free, panting heavily.

Just as he steadied himself, a shadow loomed over him.

Absalom appeared, his movements disturbingly calm, his bloodied claws glowing ominously.

"You've been quite interesting, human..."

Before Arthur could react, Absalom's boot connected with his ribs, the force sending a sickening crack through his body.

"... but I grow tired of this charade."

Arthur spat blood as he was sent hurtling through the air, crashing into another building with enough force to shatter the walls.

Arthur collapsed to the floor, gasping as pain radiated through his chest.

"Ahh... Damn it... *Cough x3*"

He muttered, coughing up blood.

He glanced at his health and mana, now almost half of its original levels.

"Not good… not good at all."

The entire building trembled as Absalom, with a wave of his hand, lifted it into the air.

Arthur's eyes widened.

"You've lasted longer than most, but every mortal reaches their limit."

Absalom remarked.

With a flick of his wrist, the building came crashing down, pinning Arthur beneath tons of rubble.

Dust filled the air, and silence settled for a moment.

Absalom stood amidst the wreckage, examining the wounds inflicted by Excalibur Destruction.

The cuts had not healed, glowing faintly with holy energy.

He scowled.

"Persistent little pest… but I hope you're still intact. I still need a new vessel soon enough."

As he approached the rubble, his footsteps eerily calm, a swarm of Gaster Blasters and Terminators emerged, surrounding him.

Without hesitation, they opened fire, beams of energy and bullets pelting Absalom from every angle.

Annoyed, Absalom raised a hand, summoning a blood orb.

"Begone, you pests."

The orb expanded, then exploded into razor-sharp shrapnel, obliterating the summons in an instant.

But it bought Arthur enough time.

From within the rubble, a faint glow of magic signaled his recovery.

He summoned a Fallout Power Armor, its reinforced plating encasing him in seconds.

In one hand, he gripped a Minigun, its barrel spinning to open fire.

Bursting from the wreckage, Arthur shouted.

"Say hello to my little friend, bitch!"

The Minigun unleashed a hail of incendiary bullets, the rounds slamming into Absalom with explosive force.

The heat from the flames slowed Absalom's regeneration, forcing him to conjure a shield of blood blades to block the onslaught.

"No matter how many times I crush you, you crawl back."

Absalom growled, irritation flashing across his face.

Arthur grinned, despite the pain coursing through his body.

"What can I say? I'm just that stubborn."

Absalom raised his hand, summoning a blood portal behind Arthur.

Before Arthur could react, the portal dragged him into the sky, spitting him out hundreds of feet above the battlefield.

"Aw, you cheap bastard!"

Arthur shouted as he began free-falling.

A swarm of blood bats materialized around him, their crimson wings slicing through the air as they descended on him.

Arthur summoned a Dragon, leaping onto its back mid-fall.

The dragon roared, its fiery breath incinerating the bats in a single sweep.

Arthur's relief was short-lived.

Absalom appeared atop the dragon, his blood blades flashing as he charged.

Arthur met him head-on, their weapons clashing in a flurry of sparks.

The two fought atop the dragon, the massive creature twisting and turning as it struggled to stay airborne.

"For a mere child, you're persistent, I'll give you that."

Absalom said, his voice calm but laced with disdain.

"Yeah, well, someone's gotta save the world from you!"

Arthur shot back, pushing against Absalom's blade with all his might.

The stalemate broke as Arthur activated Berserk Mode, his body engulfed in a fiery blue aura.

*Roar!*

His strength surged, and with a roar, he drove Absalom off the dragon, sending the Blood God plummeting toward the ground.

As they fell, Arthur unleashed a flurry of slashes, his holy blade carving into Absalom's defenses.

"Grr... Not bad... You-"

Absalom muttered, almost impressed.

"Shut the fuck up!"

Arthur interrupted, activating Triple Impact with each strike.

The consecutive strikes sent Absalom hurtling into the ground with an earth-shaking crash.

Arthur teleported to the ground, landing in a crouch as he summoned a storm of floating blades.

With a flick of his wrist, the blades pinned Absalom to the ground, each one cutting through Absalom's flesh.

"I'm not done yet!"

Arthur roared, his voice filled with fury.

He leaped into the air, Excalibur Destruction raised high while also using Meteor Strike.

As he descended, he brought the fiery blade down with all his might, slashing into Absalom's body again and again.

Each strike was accompanied by a yell.

"Why!"

*Slash*

"Won't!"

*Slash*

"You!"

*Slash*

"DIE?!"

Absalom howled in pain, his body writhing under the relentless assault from the Holy Sword.

For the first time, Arthur saw a flicker of shock in the Blood God's eyes.

But he didn't stop... he couldn't stop.

"Stay down!"

Arthur screamed, delivering a final, devastating blow that sent a shockwave rippling through the battlefield, causing the street to cave in.

Arthur staggered back, his chest heaving as he stared at Absalom's bloodied form.

His hands trembled, exhaustion threatening to overtake him as the effects of Berserk Mode wore off.

Absalom groaned, but his voice remained calm.

"You think this is enough to stop me?"

Arthur's grip tightened on his sword.

"*Pant* I don't think... I know. *Pant*"

Absalom was then calmly stood up from the crater, his wounds still kept bleeding from the Holy effects.

"Then it is time for me to take you seriously."

Arthur looked in surprise.

"Wait. Wha-"

*BOOM!*

All of a sudden, the Power Armor broke into pieces and Arthur was sent flying and bleeding profusely.

(Arthur!)

Gaia yelled in shock.
