Heaven Awaits in Hell

Chapter 18: Two Winged Tiger

Zion's shout woke Fana up.

She rushed back to take cover behind trees. As for Zion, he suppressed the rising fear in his heart and glared at the incoming beast.

ROAR!

A soul-shuddering roar escaped the beast's mouth. The roar was laced with Qi, and its full effects could be felt almost a mile away.

Zion's robes fluttered violently, like he was facing a storm, when the roar reached him.

'Can I even face something like this?' Zion realised that he wasn't the beast's match at all.

He wanted to escape, all of his being wanted to escape from this place, but Fana's image flashed in his mind.

'No! I must defeat it! Even at the cost of my life, I must!' Zion gritted his teeth and got ready to give his all.

Zion gathered all his Qi reserves into his hand.

He had never dared to gather this much Qi for a single move, so he didn't know whether this attack would be powerful enough to take down this beast or not.

He could only bet everything on a single shot.

When all his Qi condensed around his hand, its colour changed. It was no longer faint but had developed a thick shade of red.

The beast was five hundred metres away from him now and was closing in by each millisecond.

Zion thought back to the man in red robes one last time. How he had made a huge gaping hole in that huge boulder.

He took a fighting stance a second later and solidified his footing.

The beast was only a hundred meters away now. Its eyes were all red as if it were in a frenzied state. It gave out another deafening roar, jerked its wings and dived straight towards Zion from above.

To not get overwhelmed by the roar, Zion too roared back and launched his strike.

HAHHHHH!

The next moment, Zion's fist landed on the beast's face, and the beast's sharp claws landed on Zion's chest.

BOOM!

The beast's momentum waned by Zion's punch, and its facial structure was deformed. It roared in pain as its figure fell to the ground.

Meanwhile, like a kite with its strings cut, Zion's figure was thrown back several meters and stopped after his back hit a tree's trunk.

COUGH!

Zion coughed out blood from the impact and almost lost consciousness.

He couldn't move his right hand anymore. It was mangled, and blood kept pouring out of the torn flesh.

The beast's claws had done their share of damage.

Zion's chest was lacerated by the claws, and blood oozed out of it without restraint.

Clutching his ribs, which seemed to be broken, Zion stared at the beast's still figure. He had given his all in that strike, and yet he suffered such wounds.

'At least, Fana would be safe…" Zion muttered in relief, seeing that the beast was in a similar state to him.

However, as if to prove him wrong, the beast gave out a rough breath and stood up. Its face was disfigured and bleeding, but it seemed it wasn't done yet.

With murderous and rageful eyes, it glared at Zion. All of it wanted to tear him to shreds.

"Run…" Zion wanted to shout and alert Fana, but he lacked the strength to do it.

Just when he had lost all hope, to his surprise, the beast's eyes lost its strength, and its body again fell on the ground.

Relieved, Zion finally closed his eyelids, which were growing heavier by the second.

'Zion!' Fana wanted to shout and rush towards him, but the beast still showed some signs of struggling as it gave short bursts of roar from its position.

The beast's breaths finally died out, but before Fana could rush towards Zion, she saw four flying figures coming towards her from afar. She immediately hid herself behind the tree.

'Are they humans? How can they fly? Can I ask them for help? What if they'll kill me?' Loads of questions entered her mind as fear and anxiety flooded her heart.

She slightly gazed at Zion's unconscious figure. She feared that he might lose his life any second now due to his heavy bleeding, but in the end, she gritted her teeth and decided to stay hidden.

'I'm sorry…Zion,' She thought and tried hard not to make any further noise.

The next moment, the four flying figures landed next to the dead beast's body.

"Oh? Someone fought with it?" One of them frowned as he noticed the tiger's disfigured face and then looked at his surroundings.

The others also had a frown on their faces.

"Look! At that tree's bottom!" One of them pointed.

The next moment, they gathered around Zion's figure. Someone grabbed Zion's wrist and passed their Qi through his body.

"He's just at the Qi Building Level, and he dared to cross paths with the two-winged tiger. If not for the poison taking effect on the tiger at the right time, he would have lost his life," The man said in a sour mood. He wasn't the least bit happy seeing that Zion survived.

The others also gazed at Zion with annoyance as he had made their job even more difficult.

"What should we do now? The tiger's face is disfigured, and the master would definitely get angry at this," One of them said anxiously.

"Let's take him back with us," a man suggested, "since the master would surely ask about who had disfigured the beast's face and soiled his plans."

"Let's do that. If the master gets angry, then he would take out his anger on this half-dead bastard instead of us," Another one chimed in.

They would still get punished, but it would be more lenient in comparison.

Break!

"What was that sound?" The four of them were alerted. One of them gazed towards a nearby tree trunk, and his figure disappeared the next moment.

"Ugh!" The man's figure appeared in front of Fana, who was trying hard to hide this whole time and grabbed her neck.

"Brothers! Look what I found," The man dragged Fana out and showed her to others while laughing and continued, "Master will surely forgive us if we present this woman to him, don't you guys agree?"

Seeing Fana's beautiful appearance and a figure that could enchant any man, a sense of hope appeared in their eyes.

The man who was the senior most among them sighed in relief, "Good! Let's take these two and the tiger back as soon as possible, otherwise we risk making master angrier."

Sensing those hawk-like eyes on her, a chill ran down Fana's spine. She had fully heard the men and knew that if she didn't do anything now, then a fate worse than death awaited her.

"No! Let me go! I-I don't have anything to do with that man, I swear, I wasn't the one who killed the beast, but him!" Fana cried out in desperation with tears streaming down her face, but all her words fell on deaf ears.

"Do you think we care? Now shut up and let us do our job," The man lightly struck Fana's neck, and she lost consciousness soon after.

The next moment, two of them grabbed the tiger, and the other two grabbed Fana and Zion respectively before flying away.
