Chapter 11: Chapter 011: Repelling
Morax let out a long sigh.
"Do not stoop to anger. Do not stoop to anger."
"Enjoying vanilla ice cream in winter is quite the delight," Vorthis said, indulging in the memory of Earth's delicacies in his mind.
Sitting in a pavilion with a large tub of vanilla ice cream before him, Vorthis shoveled spoonful after spoonful of the frozen treat into his mouth.
In the past, with his weaker body and stomach, he would never have dared eat so much ice cream in the cold season.
But things were different now.
With a strong body at his disposal, shouldn't he use it to savor even more delicious food?
Ehehe~!
Vorthis was enjoying himself when the pristine white skies suddenly dimmed, replaced by a hazy gray.
A gust of sand-laden wind swept through, and soon, the entire area was enveloped in a raging sandstorm.
Vanilla—there was sand in his vanilla ice cream!
"MORAX!!!"
Vorthis shouted loudly in Morax's direction.
Hearing Vorthis' faintly angry voice, Morax instantly appeared with a flash.
"What is it?" Morax asked.
Vorthis pointed at the swirling sandstorm. "Look at that! Doesn't it seem like the work of the God of Sandstorm?!"
"It ruined my perfectly good tub of vanilla ice cream with sand! How am I supposed to eat it now?"
"If the God of Sandstorm is here to cause trouble, why don't you go teach him a lesson?"
"And while you're at it, avenge my ruined ice cream!"
Morax fell silent, lost in thought after hearing Vorthis' outburst.
Did he seem like someone who resorted to fighting at the slightest provocation?
That said, the entirety of Liyue was indeed being ravaged by this sandstorm.
As the territory Morax had personally chosen, he knew this region wasn't prone to such conditions.
Very well. If the God of Sandstorm had come knocking, he would have to discuss matters.
"God of Geo, Morax!"
"Come forth!!"
The God of Sandstorm's voice boomed across the skies of Liyue.
The already overwhelming sandstorm intensified, causing the humble straw huts of Liyue's people to shake violently, on the verge of collapse.
Hearing the voice, Morax immediately pinpointed its source and teleported to confront the God of Sandstorm.
Meanwhile, Vorthis waved his hand, enveloping the entire village in a protective barrier.
Within the barrier, the raging sands calmed, leaving the village unscathed.
Vorthis conjured a fresh tub of ice cream for himself, settling in to watch the impending drama unfold.
"The God of Sandstorm arrives uninvited and acts so provocatively—what is the meaning of this?" Morax asked, addressing the God of Sandstorm.
Despite his generally kind demeanor, Morax wasn't someone who could be trifled with lightly.
The God of Sandstorm revealed his true form: a creature composed entirely of swirling sand, a far cry from humanlike appearances.
"Morax! Surrender those mortals who have betrayed me!"
The God of Sandstorm's voice was filled with fury. He had offered these frail mortals shelter, only for them to betray him.
Though he had provided them a safe haven, they sought to escape his rule.
To him, this was a grievous act of betrayal!
Now, he would personally punish these traitors.
"They are now under my protection," Morax replied. "What you call betrayal was but an act of desperation."
These mortals had no choice but to flee due to the harsh conditions under the God of Sandstorm.
Yet the God of Sandstorm refused to see fault in himself.
"Morax! If you will not hand them over, then prepare to fight!"
The God of Sandstorm roared, launching an attack before Morax could reply.
From the storm, sand coalesced into massive dragons, which surged toward Morax in a relentless assault.
With swift, precise movements, Morax dodged the oncoming sand dragons. Each was sharp as a blade, capable of grinding even the hardest stone to dust.
"Hmph. God of Sandstorm, I have no desire to be your enemy," Morax said.
"These mortals are not your possessions; they have the right to make their own choices."
"You subjected them to torment—this is your wrongdoing, not theirs."
But the God of Sandstorm, consumed by rage, could no longer listen to reason.
"Hand over the traitors!"
Roaring again, the God of Sandstorm summoned even more sand dragons, attacking Morax from all directions.
Morax evaded once more, summoning his stone spear, Vortex Vanquisher, and launching a counterattack.
With skillful precision, he dismantled the sand dragons while closing in on the God of Sandstorm's core.
"You cannot stop me!"
The God of Sandstorm's fury reached its peak. His form expanded, enveloping Morax entirely in a swirling maelstrom.
From his vantage point, Vorthis could only chuckle at the God of Sandstorm's boldness.
Once inside, Morax found himself surrounded by a grinding vortex of sand, designed to shred anything within.
Boom!
A burst of golden light erupted from within the storm, shattering the God of Sandstorm's massive form into countless grains of sand.
As the sand settled, the Archon reassembled his body, unwilling to give up.
But Morax had already identified his weakness.
With each subsequent attack, Morax targeted the weak points, forcing the God of Sandstorm into a corner.
"Mark my words, Morax!" the God of Sandstorm bellowed. "I will make you and your precious mortals pay for this!"
With that, he fled at high speed, disappearing into the horizon.
Morax chose not to pursue him.
However, if the God of Sandstorm dared to return, there would be no mercy next time.
He had been given his chance.
