Chapter 107: 107. If you have money
Qiqi couldn't help but roll her eyes as Jason Liu spoke. Just saying it doesn't mean much; why not show it instead? She thought to herself.
Doesn't he claim he has no background or support? Boss, don't you know how to back me up? Do I have to spell it out for you?
Taking a deep breath, Su Qiqi smiled sweetly, her delicate features lighting up. "Brother Jason, will you support me in the future? With your encouragement, I'd have the strength to keep going." Her voice was soft and pitiful, calculated yet sincere.
Jason Liu nodded eagerly. "Of course, Qiqi! You have my full support. Don't worry!" He was quick to reassure her. Such a beautiful girl; she deserves better than to be ruined by the filth of the entertainment industry.
But as the excitement faded, reality set in. Jason frowned. "Wait, but I don't know anything about the entertainment business. My work doesn't connect to it at all. How could I possibly help you?"
Fool. Su Qiqi thought, suppressing the urge to smack her forehead. What does this have to do with knowing the industry? Just having money is enough! She recalled how business magnates had reshaped the entertainment world with sheer financial power. But, of course, she couldn't say this outright.
"It's fine, Brother Jason. Just having your encouragement means a lot. Besides, I'm only a sophomore. I still have two years to focus on my studies before graduating and entering the entertainment industry."
Jason's concern eased at her words. "That's the right mindset! Use your time at school to learn real acting skills. Don't become one of those stars who can't act and churn out terrible films. Qiqi, you have to be a true artist."
Qiqi's heart leaped. Finally, he was saying what she wanted to hear! Beaming, she replied, "Thank you, Brother Jason! I promise to work hard. When the time comes for you to produce a movie or TV series, I'll be ready as your leading lady!"
The two chatted late into the night, their conversation stretching past midnight. By the time Jason finally said goodbye, they had been talking for over two hours.
Jason climbed into bed, his mind drifting to Qiqi's radiant smile. A beauty like hers, scoring a 97 in my book... How could I not lose sleep over this? Feeling restless but unwilling to resort to unhealthy habits, he opted for a cold shower before eventually drifting off.
Meanwhile, in her apartment, Su Qiqi ended the call and stretched, her slender figure arching gracefully. Her roommate, Luo Yuzhen, approached with a cup of hot milk.
"Didn't you say that guy was just a poser? Why did you chat with him for so long today?" Luo raised an eyebrow, curious about the change in tone.
Qiqi took a sip of milk and smirked. "I did some digging and found out Jason Liu is the real deal. He's not just some random guy; he's a young entrepreneur with tens of millions to his name. He owns a company, drives a sports car, and lives in a villa. He's way ahead of those rich kids who just live off their parents' money!"
"Seriously?" Luo looked skeptical. "You know most people watching live streams aren't like that. Are you sure he's not just bluffing?"
Qiqi waved dismissively. "Come on, Sister Zhen. You think I can't tell if someone's genuine? Don't forget, I've outsmarted you before!"
Luo's face stiffened. "Let's not bring that up again if you want to stay friends."
Qiqi giggled, sticking out her tongue playfully. "Alright, alright, I won't. But trust me on this one—Jason Liu is the real deal!"
The next morning, Jason was jolted awake by his phone ringing. Groggily, he fumbled for it on the nightstand.
"Hello...?" he mumbled.
"Jason Liu!" Lin Xiaohan's irritated voice came through. "Why aren't you up yet? Jiang Chuchu has been calling you nonstop, and when she couldn't reach you, she called me!"
Jason's eyes flew open. "Ah! I blocked her number last night and forgot to unblock it!"
Lin Xiaohan sighed. "Typical. Just call her back before she loses her temper."
"Got it, thanks!" Jason hung up and hurriedly got ready. By the time he arrived at the office in the high-tech zone, it was nearly 10 a.m.
Jiang Chuchu was busy supervising the delivery and setup of desks and chairs in the new office. Spotting Jason, she raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Liu, didn't you leave early yesterday? Why do you look so tired?"
Jason yawned, ignoring her remark. "Anyway, the office looks great. Good work, Jiang Chuchu. I appreciate your dedication." He adopted a mock managerial tone. "Keep this up, and you'll be on track for a promotion, a raise!"
Jiang rolled her eyes but couldn't help smiling. Jason, satisfied with the progress, spent the rest of the morning coordinating plans for the company's future.
