Game Of Thrones : Merchant of Two Worlds

Chapter 106: 106. Qiqi's star dream

Is this what they call the charm of regretful creators like Ali Ma? Or the ordinary beauty of a family like Twisted Vine? These words sound so pretentious that one might feel the urge to give the speaker a knock on the head!

Anyone who talks like this must have serious confidence. No doubt, they're probably someone important—a real big shot.

So Qiqi believed that this was the kind of high-quality connection she needed to hold on to. Still, she wanted to be cautious, so she decided to test the waters again.

Qiqi messaged: "Hee hee, Brother Jason, you're amazing! But I've known you for so long, and I still haven't seen what you look like. Why don't we do a video call?"

Jason Liu was surprised by her suggestion. In his social media posts, he only shared pictures of his sports cars and never of himself. The only exception was the photo he sent to his sister, Liu Wan, which showed him posing with his car and villa to prove his success.

Naturally, Su Qiqi was curious. She wanted to know what this mysterious boss looked like.

"If he's good-looking, maybe it's worth getting closer," she thought. "But if he's ugly, then forget it!"

Yes, Su Qiqi openly admitted to being shallow. Looks mattered to her.

When Jason saw the video request pop up, he hesitated for a moment but then accepted.

"Wow, Brother Jason, is that really you?"

Su Qiqi appeared on the screen, wearing an oversized T-shirt that covered her pants, showing only her long, pale legs. When she saw Jason, fresh from a shower, wrapped in a white bath towel, and with his handsome face clearly visible, she covered her eyes dramatically and squealed, "Brother Jason! You're so naughty, not even wearing clothes!"

Jason took a moment to observe her. Even without makeup, her face was flawless. Her beauty struck him—she was stunning, even in her natural state.

"Is this really my fan?" he thought, feeling both surprised and lucky.

Regaining his composure, Jason glanced at his towel and frowned. "What's she even shy about? The towel covers everything!"

"Aren't I wearing a bath towel?" Jason replied defensively. "I just got out of the shower and haven't changed yet." He adjusted his phone camera to focus on his upper body, avoiding any misunderstandings.

So Qiqi lowered her hands and grinned. "I thought you did it on purpose! But, wow, Brother Jason, you're not only handsome but also fit! You even have abs!"

Jason glanced down at himself and realized his faintly visible eight-pack was noticeable. His months of training and work in Westeros had paid off without him realizing it.

"Heh, I never noticed before," he admitted, scratching his head awkwardly.

Unlike Jason, who struggled with small talk, Su Qiqi was naturally chatty. "Is this your house? It looks huge!" she exclaimed, looking at the background behind him.

Jason turned the camera to show her the spacious living room of his villa. "Yeah, I just bought this place. The previous owner did the interior design, so I moved in without changing much."

"Can you show me the rest of the villa?" she asked eagerly, adding, "I hope I'm not disturbing your parents."

Jason smiled. "My parents live in the countryside. I live here alone."

"Wow, Brother Jason, you're incredible! Truly self-made!" Qiqi said, her sweet, admiring tone making Jason feel proud.

He walked through the villa, showing her the elegant interiors and luxurious details. Her excitement was infectious as she praised every room, from the spacious living areas to the private swimming pools on the upper floors. Finally, Jason returned to his master bedroom.

Just as their conversation flowed smoothly, a woman's voice interrupted, "Qiqi, who are you chatting with?"

A woman's face appeared in the video—a plain but friendly face, looking curious.

"Sister Zhen, I'm chatting with Brother Jason!" Qiqi quickly moved the camera away, winking at her distant cousin as if to warn her not to spill any unnecessary details.

Luo Yuzhen, Qiqi's cousin and manager, glanced at Jason and then at the luxurious bedroom behind him. "Alright, keep chatting. I'll go wash the laundry," she said before leaving.

Jason raised an eyebrow. "Your sister?"

"Distant cousin," Qiqi corrected. "She's also my manager and assistant. My parents asked her to look after me while I study acting."

"Oh, right, you're studying drama. That's impressive! You'll be a star one day!" Jason recalled her social media bio mentioning her ambition.

Qiqi sighed, her smile fading slightly. "It's not as easy as it looks. The entertainment industry is cutthroat. Without connections or support, it's hard to make it."

Jason nodded sympathetically. "Yeah, I've heard about all the scandals and shady dealings. It's a tough world to step into."

"That's what worries me," Qiqi admitted. Her usually bright demeanor dimmed as she continued, "I've always dreamed of being a star, acting in TV shows and movies. I've spent years training—dancing, singing, practicing lines—and now I'm in theater school. If I don't make it, all that effort will have been wasted."

Tears welled in her eyes as she added, "I've worked so hard for this dream, but the thought of failing... it's heartbreaking."

Jason was moved by her sincerity and determination. "Don't give up," he said gently. "If this is your dream, you should chase it. Stay true to yourself, work hard, and you'll find success in your own way."

Qiqi's teary smile returned, and she nodded. "Thank you, Brother Jason. That means a lot to me."

Her vulnerability and charm struck Jason deeply. For a moment, he understood why men throughout history had gone to great lengths for women like her—captivating, determined, and heartbreakingly beautiful.
