Chapter 107: Chapter-104
"Let's go! Let's get the airdrop!" Horn shouted, glancing at the dwindling energy level on his electromagnetic rifle. The current strategy wasn't sustainable. Once they ran out of energy and ammunition, they would be sitting ducks against the infected.
Horn made a quick decision. They had to secure the airdrop supplies—there was no other way to survive. With determination etched on his face, he signaled to his companions and quietly headed toward his red Intimidator armored vehicle.
Around him, other players had the same idea. As the promise of powerful supplies tempted them, many abandoned their defensive positions, leaving the bridge in small groups or solo, engines roaring into the night.
"Hey! Where are you going? Get back here!" a police officer shouted after them.
"Damn it, we're surrounded! You can't just leave!"
Curses and pleas echoed through the air as residents under the ultraviolet lights watched in despair. Some tried to bribe the departing players with promises of money or supplies, hoping to escape with them.
A few players obliged, letting desperate survivors board their vehicles in exchange for cash or game currency. Others ignored the chaos, focused solely on reaching the airdrops.
As the player exodus continued, the protective UV circle shrank, forcing the remaining police and residents to cluster together. The infected, sensing an opportunity, surged forward, clawing at the barrier of light.
In the shadows of the city, other players who had been lying low emerged. Some wielded silver weapons and purple UV lights, which rendered the infected harmless. These players were careful, using their tools sparingly and only engaging when necessary.
Still, even the best-equipped players were eager to reach the airdrops. Items like skill chips and the virus serum promised a chance to turn the tide in their favor, making the dangerous trek worthwhile.
"What's the plan now?" Rhodes asked over the comms, his hands glowing with electromagnetic pulses as he blasted infected bodies away. "These things just keep coming!"
Merlin swung his electric whip, clearing a path around him. The high-voltage energy sliced through infected creatures like butter.
"We can't just waste time on these things. We need to hunt down the vampire aliens controlling them," Merlin replied.
"Easier said than done. They're hiding in the dark, and they're impossible to track," Rhodes grumbled.
"Well, we could head for the airdrops. They might have something useful," Stark's voice crackled in their earpieces.
Merlin smirked, knowing what surprises awaited in the airdrops—he had prepared them himself. With a flick of his wrist, he ascended into the air, followed closely by Arcee.
Following the smoke signals, the team reached a rooftop where an airdrop had landed. However, they weren't alone.
Two groups of players were already there. One team, led by Horn, was equipped with an electromagnetic rifle and the imposing Tyrant MK2. The other team, led by Brian, was clad in sleek steel armor.
Both sides stood tense, their weapons trained on each other.
"Back off! We found this first!" Brian shouted, raising his arms in warning.
"This isn't a playground! Whoever's here gets to claim it!" Horn retorted, his finger hovering over the trigger of his rifle. His teammate's Tyrant MK2 readied a missile, the launcher whirring ominously.
The standoff grew more intense, but before anyone could act, Dominic stepped forward.
"We only need the virus serum," Dominic said firmly, lowering his weapon to show he meant no harm. "You can have the rest."
Horn hesitated, sizing up Dominic's towering steel armor. After a moment, he nodded.
"Fine."
The tension eased slightly as Dominic and Horn cautiously approached the airdrop. Both teams remained on high alert, their companions watching each other like hawks.
Dominic tore open the box, revealing an array of supplies.
"Detection skill chip?" Horn's eyes lit up as he spotted one of the items.
