Chapter 257: The Elf Queen II
When I marched to the capital, I didn't do so by myself.
Ains Ooal Gown was approaching from the west, so I had Merluna and Nocturna stand by and create a front together with the mixed-race army to repel them. The Undead King was smart, he chose this moment when the Elf Kingdom was weak, undergoing an internal revolution...
I couldn't allow him to do as he pleased. In fact, he came at the right moment. His invasion would be repelled by the Starlight Elves, and Ray's church would gain even more notoriety while Alana, Yuna and I marched towards the capital.
I had Lucia lead her stealth group of elves to go ahead of us to assist Mariel and make sure she could finish taking all the slaves away from the capital before we arrived. In two days, that task was completed.
We reached a capital that looked more like a warzone than a peaceful city. Mariel and a part of the mixed-race army had devastated a great chunk of Decem Hougan's army; they obliterated two noble families and left the other five main ones weak and unable to defend themselves.
This whole conquest was so easy that I almost couldn't believe it. Not only were we very efficient and powerful, but Decem Hougan's forces and moves were mediocre... as it would be expected who lived a hedonistic lifestyle with nothing to himself other than the behaviour of a tyrant that kidnapped young elf girls periodically to spread his corrupted seed.
The streets were packed with elves protesting. The movement to rescue the slaves had caused major chaos in the city, which had disrupted the common lifestyle of those in the middle and upper classes of the Kingdom. Water and food weren't available as they should and those who had willingly given away their kingdom and rights to the King in exchange for their livelihood, saw him unable to provide this livelihood anymore.
Everything would end now.
Years of corruption and mistreatment of the lower class of elves. Slavery, selling his own compatriots to be mistreated and massacred outside of our borders. How much longer was this bastard going to stain our legacy and make us forest elves, who once ruled this world, the joke of the continent?
No more.
"She's here, the hero is here!".
"I-Impossible, it's you!"
Some recognised me, some didn't. The last pureblood member of the Blair Dynasty that once ruled this Kingdom. The reason why I wanted to leave my appearance until the end was due to this mixture of reactions.
Some believed the lies spread by Decem Hougan, believing that the reason for the mass slavery of forest elves outside the Kingdom was due to me working together with the Sloane Theocracy in the shadows... something that the bastard had done himself, blaming me.
And therefore, a huge chunk of the Kingdom, predominantly those of old age, hated me and saw me as a traitor. Even now that they knew I was the leader behind the Starlight Elf movement, they couldn't believe it.
"GO, LADY ANNA!"
"PLEASE SAVE US!".
Nevertheless, there was an even greater number of people, hundreds of thousands in the Kingdom, corrupt or not, who supported me and my mission. Those who had been subjected to poverty had no choice but to become corrupt; I can forgive them.
But I won't forgive the nobles.
With my presence, the protests had a spearhead. We marched towards the main palace at the gigantic tree of Yggdrasil, and as we did, the armies approached us from the sidelines without making a move. It was no longer just Starlight Angels, this was the whole Elf Kingdom standing against the Heretic King.
Would they make a move? They couldn't.
And if they did...
*WHOOSH!*
The first soldier who charged at us was vaporised by the sunlight, he served as an example. This battle was already won; all I had to do was claim Decem Hougan's head, take the throne... and everything would be over. I thought it was a bit underwhelming, I thought this would be more difficult than it actually was... I thought it would take months, not just three weeks. But sadly, taking the throne was the quick part... rebuilding the Kingdom back to what it was would be the difficult part.
"Decem Hougan... COME OUT!"
*RUMBLE!*
My magic activated, the tree branches and plants all around us obeyed my command. When my words burst forth, the gates of the balcony in the palace opened, and I saw three individuals walk out.
Two of them were prestigious knights among the elves. Decem Hougan was in the centre, looking old and ragged, almost stressed.
However, something wasn't right. I felt my eyes shake a bit as I looked at him... I felt his aura, and then something popped up in my vision. There were three screens with shining bright red letters that screamed danger.
[Solution Epsilon, Monarchal Infusion]
[Solution Epsilon, Monarchal Infusion]
[Solution Epsilon, Monarchal Infusion]
'H-Huh?'
I was confused and didn't realise the changes on my own body or even my hair shining like the sun. I only questioned what was going on. I remember those knights from my childhood, idols to follow. I looked around and Alana was next to me, she brandished her sword ready to fight... she couldn't see what I was seeing.
Sir Callaid and Sir Thomas, two powerful knights who had lived for more than three centuries and remained loyal to the crown.
They, no... that, looked just like them and also Decem Hougan.
"L-Lady Solution?" Words that I just mumbled brought silence to the world, and the next thing I knew was that I was in a while and black world that I could recognise very well.
Time seemed to come to a stop in this white and black world in which only I remained colourful, and then, they appeared.
"It seems she noticed in the end. It must be because of the ability she received from Ray back then, 'Administrator of Yggdrasil', there is no point in continuing with this farce now" The motes of light transformed into an individual.
"However, we still have to give a decent show to the masses to settle master's status. I am sorry, Anna... but we couldn't take any risks" The gusts of darkness also transformed into an individual.
"..." I saw myself standing in front of two goddesses in this paralized world, it was a surreal experience.
"Lady Elysir, Lady Haku..."
I felt a pair of arms embrace me from behind, yet another goddess pulled me into her soft embrace, "Anna, it is not what you think".
I turned around and looked at her with teary eyes, feeling a mixture of feelings that were dark in nature. I felt betrayed... I already knew what was happening, but couldn't accept it. I held her shoulders with shaky eyes, "Lady Galadriel. This... what is this...? Where is Decem Hougan?".
"Anna, Solution and I have already erased Decem Hougan out of this world. It is exactly what you think it is–"
"WHY?!"
I looked at the three goddesses who had played me like a fiddle, who had deceived me. My campaign, my and Alana's mission to avenge our parents, was it all just a play? Was everything decided from the start?!
I felt Lady Galadriel hug me even tighter against her bosom, caressing my hair so softly that my wrath threatened to recede with her warmth; she was like my mother... but with even more reason, I felt outraged and embarrassed. How could she do this to me? This vengeance meant so much to me. The girls and I have been exiled for so long, waiting for this moment!
"Because we know there are more variables at play, Anna. Because Ray didn't want your innocent hands to be stained with blood. Because we couldn't ascertain that Avarice is still out there hiding some of his leftover wickedness, waiting for the best moment to strike. Because we wanted you to be safe. Dear, there are too many reasons... but none of them is going to appease your anger" Lady Galadriel smiled and cleaned my tears.
"Although the main reason is that we wanted this to be as swift as possible. We knew that Ains Ooal Gown wasn't going to wait much longer. If this campaign had prologued, you would have been engulfed in a war of two fronts against Ains Ooal Gown and Decem Hougan. No more lives should be lost for this cause... we made sure that you would experience no casualties, Anna," Lady Haku spoke next, and she was right, throughout all of this, there wasn't a single casualty.
"We didn't do this because we didn't trust you, Anna. We did this because we love you. Let alone, Ray was very aware of your and Alana's desire for vengeance. He didn't want you to come here, behead Decem Hougan, and become a cold and empty Queen; he hoped you'd remain the cheerful elf he once met, but he was powerless to tell you anything because he knew how much this meant to you and Alana. We did this ourselves without consulting him, this was our decision," Lady Elysir said calmly, pointing her finger somewhere.
In another corner of this world, motes of light and darkness joined together to form another silhouette.
"R-Ray..."
"I'm sorry, Anna–"
"You didn't do anything".
"I did, I didn't stop them even though I knew what they were doing... because I didn't disagree with them".
Ray hugged me tightly, "If you want to claim vengeance, I won't stop you. But I know if you do it you will never be back to how you once were".
I looked behind me and there he was, kneeling like a defeated dog, watching me with those putrid, lewd eyes, Decem Hougan.
"I may have killed his body, but I didn't devour his soul because I expected you to make the decision," Lady Haku mumbled, "If you destroy his soul now, it won't ever enter the cycle of reincarnation, it will be gone forever".
"Y-You bitch! You're just a slut just like your mother!"
I felt my heart stop for a moment when I heard him. I clenched my sword tightly and approached him, "What did you say?".
Auras flared around me, but they didn't make a move; they waited for me.
"Are you deaf? I am saying that slut's cunt was delicious... I am sure yours is too, a pity I won't be able to enjoy it. But... so what? I already did my part... I finished that filthy family of yours– UGH!"
I used the handle of the sword to smash his mouth, a single strike sent several teeth flying as he stumbled. I felt my mind was going berserk, my hands were shaking... I didn't want to behead him, I wanted to burn his corpse!
"Haha... HAHAHAHA!!" He laughed out loud and spat not blood, but rather some sort of grey liquid.
"You can kill me now, you may take the throne... but you can't save anything. I have stained this whole kingdom with my cum~ you know... I used to be just another young and ambitious elf who would never be able to reach the throne because of that filthy dynasty, gatekeeping the throne even though they were incapable. If I had been the king from the start... IF I HAD BEEN THE KING FROM THE START WE ELVES WOULD HAVE RULED THE WORLD AGAIN!".
He then sent a glare towards Lady Galadriel, but even then, he couldn't hold his filthy nature; he licked his lips in lust, even daring to profane the body of one of our goddesses, A midnight elf!
*WHOOSH!*
"AAAHHHH!!!"
With a single slice of my sword, I cut both his eyes.
"Stop looking at Lady Galadriel with those filthy eyes. Don't you see you are standing before one of our ancestors?!"
"Ancestor... *cough* *cough*, she's just another one of the Sun God's sluts, that's all... all of them. And he, he's just another piece of shi–"
With one clean sweep of my sword, I beheaded that soul and made it shut up for eternity. It was simple, it was anticlimactic... it wasn't the long torture that I wished for, but it was necessary.
The girls stared at me with worry, they couldn't be the least concerned... how could Gods be concerned about a mortal's ramblings? But those deities still lowered themselves enough to care about me. So I ran to them and I hugged them all.
"I killed him not only because of my mother and my father. I behead him because I won't allow anyone to tarnish the memory and name of the people who are dear to me... again," I said, looking at them and then... looking at Ray.
"I know this is not what you wanted me to do. But I promise you I will always smile at you the same way~"
He opened his arms to me to expect his hug as well, but I did more than that.
!!!
I kissed him, I kissed my future husband and my God.
"Girl, you looked cool there for a moment~"
Just those words alone were enough for me to want to kiss him again. I stared at the place where his soul had been, and it had already scattered into even less than dust. It scattered into inexistence.
"Decem Hougan, history won't remember you... Once the glorious story of the elves continues in this world, books will be written about this moment. I'll make sure those books remain in obscurity, forever".
The world turned back to normal, like not even a second had passed. I brandished my sword and looked up at 'Decem Hougan' with a smile.
The show had to continue, the show in which Ray becomes the God of this Kingdom, and I become its Queen.
The battle was long and prolonged, I almost felt that Lady Solution wasn't holding back against me at all. But at the end of it, I showed Decem Hougan's head to the masses and reclaimed my rightful throne as the Queen of the Blair Dynasty once more.
Ray descended from the skies together with Lady Elysir, Lady Galadriel and Lady Haku... blessing this moment. The crowds knelt in praise, and Armatista rained from the skies. While the Undead King forcefully tried to push his way through the borders, the capital saw the dawn of a new era. An era where we elves all join under the same tree, the Legendary Yggdrasil. Forest Elves, Dark Elves and a single remaining Midnight Elf, all together under the protection of a new Sun.
I am the Elf Queen fated to become the first Elf Empress, Anna Blair.
