Dragon Soul System

Chapter 3: Chapter 002 - The Truck

Carrying his bag behind his back, Shay fontinued walking forward. Goro was just one person of many.

Unphased, his candid demeanor carried him closer.

"Eah-hahahahahaha!" Crash cackled ahead of them as explosions reigned terror on the goblins forming a small horde within the suddenly not-so-ghost town.

The various E-ranks stood in front of him. Cannon fodder to protect the mage. Of course, with an explosion mage out front, the tank didn't want anything to do with it, so Goro stood behind the lines.

But even then, the town's roads had two sides. The horde in front… While sneaky goblins cane from the side.

"3 O'Clock!" One of the E-ranks yelled as a group of goblins shot blowdarts out of windows… They killed the fellow E-rank next to him in a single slew of darts. His name? In this world, no one had bothered enough to care.

"My turn!" Goro Patroni smirked as he held his shield and ran forward, charging into the house. The goblins disappeared one by one to confront the new threat.

Shay watched as Emilio disappeared next to him. Soon after he heard screams in the house to the left of the ongoing battle. Soon after, he heard infighting in the other nearby houses. Patiently, he waited for Goro to return.

"Is it all clear?" He asked prefunctorily as Gro cleared the exit.

"Are you going to stand there all day?" Goro asked in return, the ever-present smirk continuing on his face.

"No sir. However, it is mandated by fhe Bagger's Comission that we be answered before entering a building apart from party members."

Goro spit on Shay's shoes before walking up to him staring him dead in the eyes from less than a foot away. "Yes, the building's clear." Grimacing, he jumped further in his face. Shay didn't respond. Instead, he waited for Goro to move back a step.

Walking into the building, he was able to leave Goro Patroni behind.

"I don't like that kid." Goro was speaking to none other than Lila, the team's healer. "There's just something about him that… irks me." He continued rambling on.

As for Lila, she wasn't paying attention. Somebody had already died! As the healer, she should have been able to protect him. Why hadn't she? What was so wrong with the world that this was happening?

"So, what do you think, princess?" Goro continued, having assumed she was listening.

"Please don't call me that." Lila shrunk from his oversized suit of armour.

"Hmph." Goro breathed slowly for a couple seconds, pretending to watch the battle as he began to admire Lila's figure from the corners of his eye.

On Shay's side, it was easy work. Hard, but easy. As long as the goblins were dead, getting the cores was simple. They were always stored inside the heads.

There were six goblin corpses to check. Already on the fifth one, Kai was just checking for the core as he heard a 'Shing' go off behind him. Rolling to the side, he looked at the sixth goblin "corpse" that had just woken up. Grabbing a knife from the goblin next to him, he threw it at the goblin that was still alive.

"Shing!" Luckily, his aim was good. It struck true, stabbing the goblin right in the green face.

"I think you must have eaten something bad. Your face was all green… I hope you like Christmas… " Shay smiled to himself.

He continued picking up the red monster cores from tbe goblins. With all six in tow, he went back outside. "All six cores are present and accounted for, I'm ready to assist with whatever you'd like me to bag."

"GO STAND OVER THERE!" Goro shouted, sneering.

The goblins were all accounted for. The E-ranks were huddled in a group on one end of the street. Goro was standing in the middle of the intersection with Crash. Lila was standing on the corner. Where was Emilio?

"THROW ALL YOUR THINGS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!!" Crash smiled, insanity plastered on his forehead.

As the E-Ranks began to disarm themselves, a loud noise appeared. It began to get closer at an alarming rate.

"Fuck, it's the boss!" Someone yelled.

All of a sudden, Crash turned his head. A shock of surprise plastered his face as his face plastered to the side of a giant truck.

[Kamikaze Goblin Driver - BOSS]

The system chimed in in its inexorable tone.

Soon, the car turned back around. They had lost their damage dealers. Both Goro and Crash were gone! The E-Ranks scattered like fools.

The goblin revved the engine as a nasty smile arose. "KIEGAGAGAGAGAGSGSGHAHAHAGH!!" The goblin cackled, a three-towed foot smacking down on the accelerator. It's eyes gleamed at a similar rate to the oncoming speed of the truck.

Shay ran inside one of the houses. But he turned back to see Lila struck dumb, still in the middle of the road. Shouting didn't help. He ran back into the street to push her away… Only to get hit by a fucking goblin driving a fucking truck. Then his vision went weird as something hazy happened right in front of him.

'Reincarnation, please?' was the last thought that entered his mind before he blacked out.
