Dragon Ball: A Better Bulma

Chapter 94: 94: The Demon King... Sura!?

Earth is an interesting planet. Not only was it home to life, but it also seemed to exist solely to become increasingly prosperous, with several intelligent species roaming its surface.

The most dominant species were the Terrans, or humans, hairless apes who overpowered all other species. While they may not have been the most powerful species, remarkable individuals were born periodically, both physically and mentally.

The other intelligent species had to step aside as humans spread across the planet. There were animal people, clever animals, including even prehistoric creatures such as dinosaurs, who refused to become extinct.

Even magical creatures, such as vampires and werewolves, adapted to the society that humanity had created. There was only one race that seemed to oppose humanity, or at least some of its members:

The demons. Not just any demons, but demons native to Earth. This was one of the rare things on Earth. Not only did it have a system to establish a divine position, but it also had its hell. However, the demons that lived on the planet did not come from that place, not even from the acclaimed Demon Realm.

They lived in a dimension adjacent to Earth. The entrance was opened by their strongest warrior, a legendary figure known as the Demon King... Sura.

"Yeah... No, what kind of bullshit is this!?" Bulma exclaimed. She was reading a document written by a Capsule Corp. worker about Earth's mythological and fantastic stories.

She was sitting at her desk when she took a moment to read the information on her phone while a holographic screen showed the calculation process of a task she was doing.

Bulma already knew some of the story, but she didn't remember this strange detail. She soon put that strange feeling aside. After all, surprises like these were what she liked about the real world.

"Isn't Sura that creepy guy who kidnapped a young girl to marry her?" Bulma muttered, putting her phone down on the desk. She had grown tired of reading by this point.

"Should I go have some fun? Fighting demons would be interesting! They always have interesting techniques. Even if they're not like the ones from the Demon Realm, it would be a test, wouldn't it?" Bulma's blue eyes sparkled at this idea, so she quickly texted Lazuli to come along.

It would be just the two of them! A week had passed since the beach party, and things between the girls had been going well. Bulma decided this was the perfect time for them to spend time together.

But as she sent the message, a notification appeared on the screen: The task she had been working on was finished, and she was now being notified. When she looked up, her countenance grew serious.

"I never expected a communiqué sent from another dimension," Bulma muttered. Unlike the transmissions she had caught before, this message had crossed dimensional barriers and was detected by her devices.

Bulma began directly manipulating the screen, initiating playback of the file. The video showed a planet similar to Earth, but the continents' shapes and distributions were very different from Bulma's world.

There were annotations on the video indicating that this planet was indeed an alternate version of her world, albeit very different. Additionally, the year shown was different.

1999 AD, day not found, start time of recording: 1:24 a.m. The image soon zoomed in, cutting through the clouds and revealing an advanced city covered by a large dome resembling an energy field.

"This was the beginning... of the Day of Lavos." As a voiceover ended, the earth itself opened up, accompanied by a devastating earthquake of such magnitude that not even advanced buildings could withstand it.

From the abyss emerged a terrifying creature, and even Bulma felt a pang of terror at the sight. It had a wide carapace covered with huge spikes and a tiny mouth compared to its size. This gigantic being was as tall as mountains.

The worst was its roar, which was more like a screech. Its scream exploded the glass in the city. Then, its body began to redden, and the spikes on its back shot skyward.

They were like missiles, piercing the city's energy field and soaring into space. Space filled with red, and soon, guided by the creature, each spike spun and aimed at cities around the world.

That day, it rained fire. Humanity could not withstand an attack of this magnitude. In the next few minutes of the video, Bulma witnessed the devastating power of Lavos, who effortlessly destroyed the entire surface of the Earth.

"We didn't know what that thing was, but the name Lavos popped into everyone's mind as if it were stored deep in our DNA. Many in the bunker committed suicide because they could not bear the fact that the world they knew was over.

Our dimensional project can no longer be developed. We have no more energy to spare except for supplying certain areas and devices, such as the Enertrons...

I hope the seeds can be maintained well. Father, Mother, it seems that I will not be able to inherit the throne. Only now do I understand that perhaps I was too hard on you.

I'm sending this message to parallel worlds, if they exist. Be careful. I don't know if there are creatures like this in your worlds, but it never hurts to be warned. I..." The video is distorted here, and then some strange noises start to be heard.

The image remained black, but soon, the sounds began to make sense. They had a rhythm and seemed mechanical. Soon, a vision appeared: a mature woman whose entire body was a display of changing colors and who had a gem on her forehead.

"There is no hope for humanity. Robots now claim this world." Finally, the video ended, causing Bulma to exhale.

Is the world of Chrono Trigger part of the parallel worlds of Dragon Ball? Except for the legend of a red-haired warrior in our history, there's no mention of anything like Lavos in this world. Perhaps those are the discrepancies.

Lavos didn't fall here. Crono was a hero similar to Olivier, and even the chronologies are different." Bulma thought harder about this. After all, her ancestor in this world was named Lucca and bore an eerie resemblance to a certain character she remembered.

"Ah, this is too much. Why don't I kick the supposed Demon King's ass and leave my classic RPG plot alone?" Feeling overwhelmed, Bulma chose poor Sura as her punching bag, hoping he was strong enough to let her vent.

In the supposed Demon Kingdom, Sura trembled on his throne, feeling that something bad was about to happen to him.

...

"Look, I understand if you suddenly send me a message saying that we're going to have a short affair and fight demons... but why are we dressed like this?" Lazuli asked, glaring at Bulma, who had used magic on her.

Bulma had learned a spell called magical materialization, with which she quickly created a set of 'clothes' suitable for both her and Lazuli. The issue? The theme of these clothes.

Bulma created a White Mage's robe to match her long blue hair. She added red details and a hood, inspired by a certain White Mage.

She even used her Plant powers to grow a branch out of the ground and mold it to resemble a magic staff. However, Lazuli's complaint was about something else.

Bulma took great pains with Lazuli's appearance, making her wear what she called 'magic armor,' consisting of a metal bra and a leather skirt, not to mention knee and shoulder pads.

Bulma also provided Lazuli with a sword and shield. However, Lazuli was upset that Bulma had left her semi-naked. She didn't take her eyes off the blonde-haired girl who was admiring her work.

"Don't you understand that a warrior wears full armor or clothes that cover her body? Everyone knows that women in RPGs are just an excuse to show flesh!" Bulma held up her hands as if revealing a divine design. Lazuli simply shook her head, not wanting to argue.

"Fine, I'll play along," Lazuli said, causing Bulma to crack a smile. She felt that Lazuli's bad mood had abated a bit.

"Then let's get inside this place!" Bulma pointed off into the distance where the air seemed to fluctuate, twisting under the influence of a higher power.

The cause was a gigantic open door with a sword stuck in it, preventing the entrance from closing. Although no one was visible nearby, Bulma and Lazuli could sense the presence of a powerful being.

Instead of flying, as they had done to get there, they decided to walk along an old dirt road. As they got closer, Bulma noticed that the surrounding plants were very different from anything she had seen before.

'Is this the flora of this dimension? I'll check them out later.' She resisted the urge to bend down and pick up the plants that had caught her attention; first, she had to vent her annoyance and enjoy her cosplay session with Lazuli.

When the two arrived at the door, they did so at the same time as that signature Ki, a large man with light blue skin whose size was similar to Ox King's, and who even wore a horned helmet.

A curved sword was sheathed at his waist. He seemed to be in a bad mood because, just before appearing before the girls, he had been kicking a rock and complaining.

"What am I supposed to be looking for? There's no one here! Those humans don't come out into the forest as much as they used to. Is there a threat near the entrance?

There's no one! Now, they just hang out on these things called phones!" the being growled. Finally, he noticed Bulma and Lazuli. Their outfits reminded him of something he had heard about as a child.

"You guys... are you heroes? Do humans have heroes again? Where the hell is Mera!? You won't get through!" the demon shouted. Currently, the two women were closer to the entrance of the dimension than he was, which Bulma found somewhat funny.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Without any cover, Bulma started laughing, causing a slight blush to appear on the face of the creature, who decided to unsheathe his sword.

"I, Gora, will stop the heroes from causing more chaos in the Demon Realm!" Gora shouted, causing Bulma to guffaw even louder.

"Calling a dimension adjacent to Earth the 'Demon Realm'... that's hilarious." Bulma's words embarrassed Gora further.

He truly understood that his home wasn't the legendary Demon Realm, but it still deserved his protection.

"Stop laughing already! I'll stop them, Umiez!" Gora's pronunciation of 'Humans' was peculiar, making not only Bulma laugh again but also Lazuli.

"Okay, just for that, it's worth being semi-naked right now," Lazuli said after holding back her laughter.

"I told you this was going to be fucking fun! Look at this fool!" Bulma pointed at Gura, who was offended by the girl's words, so he unleashed his aura and lunged at them, sword held high.

Lazuli responded to the demon's attack by using the sword Bulma had given her. She confronted Gura directly. The demon was quite strong, causing Lazuli to bend her legs slightly to dissipate the force.

"Hey, why don't you use the shield? Clashing swords is counterproductive, you know?" Bulma's words caused Lazuli to roll her eyes before looking back.

"Then you do something!" the blonde shouted back. Bulma shook her shoulders before dramatically waving her staff.

"Watch my magic trick!" she replied, waving the stick in her hand. At Lazuli's anticipation and Gura's fear, the girl jumped and dropped the stick's tip on the demon's head.

"I learned this from Goku!"
