Chapter 313: Chapter 313: Side Story 2: His Realm
Da Ming and Er Ming didn't know whether to hate Bibi Dong or feel grateful. Their emotions were complicated, to say the least.
After being killed by her, they were resurrected within just a few years. Not only that, but they had gained a blessing in disguise—achieving a god-level existence, something no other soul beast could ever reach.
This was true godhood.
Even the million-year soul beast Tianmeng Ice Silkworm, after reaching a million years, had never truly achieved godhood.
Its body was still mortal, and its spiritual power was merely awareness at best.
Only by successfully undergoing tribulation could one ascend to godhood. Clearly, Tianmeng had failed.
"At least my Li Si is better. He only has two wives, and one of them is the ruler of all soul beasts—the Silver Dragon King!"
Novel Xiao Wu said smugly to Xiao Wu 2.
But upon hearing this, Xiao Wu 2's expression flickered with surprise. She hesitated for a moment before muttering softly,
"Doesn't that mean your Li Si is... not..."
Xiao Wu: "???"
Do you even hear yourself?!
Pure and virtuous Li Si had just been insulted by Xiao Wu 2, and Novel Xiao Wu was on the verge of a breakdown!
"Hmph! Your Dai Mubai is the one who's—"
"Pah, pah, pah! Your Li Si is the one who's—!"
The two Xiao Wus began arguing furiously, their faces red with indignation.
Meanwhile, Li Si and Lin Fan were observing from the shadows, exchanging bewildered glances.
"Lin Fan, honestly, I regret not giving you a copy of The Sunflower Manual back then!"
Li Si muttered. Of all the regrets in his life, this was one he genuinely couldn't get over.
He had always known Lin Fan was cautious, but he never expected him to be this cautious.
"You've got to be kidding me!"
Lin Fan clenched his fists, suppressing the urge to punch Li Si. He'd heard this line far too many times already!
Why would fate make such cruel jokes?
Even if he had chosen The Sunflower Manual, so what? There was no rule saying he had to cultivate it himself—he could've just handed it to Tang San, Ma Hongjun, Yu Xiaogang, or Tang Hao of this world instead!
Who knows? The entire world might have been thrown into chaos over that one book.
"Any leads on returning to Blue Star?"
Lin Fan quickly changed the subject.
For years, he'd been helping Li Si search for their old coordinates. The effort had been monumental but yielded little progress.
There were simply too many versions of Blue Star, like grains of sand in an ocean, some of which were bizarrely unique.
Who could say which one was theirs?
Unlike Li Si, Lin Fan had no deep attachments to their original world. He had no lingering regrets there—his only close friend was right in front of him.
If he returned, it would simply be a nostalgic visit to his hometown.
This world, on the other hand, held too many bonds. Even if he discovered the way back, he wouldn't leave.
But that didn't stop him from helping Li Si in his search.
"Still nothing," Li Si said bluntly, his tone tinged with melancholy.
Seeing this, Lin Fan patted him on the shoulder.
"Don't worry. If we can't find it, it just means we're not strong enough yet. Keep cultivating. Once we approach His level—or reach it—we'll definitely find our way back."
"Once you reach His level, would you want to become like Him?"
Li Si asked with a faint smile.
Lin Fan fell silent at the question.
They had long suspected the truth, and their guesses were likely close to reality.
Reaching His level was one thing, but becoming Him? That was a different matter entirely.
The price was too great.
At that level, even the most basic emotions no longer existed. One operated purely according to a "program." How was that different from a machine?
Perhaps it wasn't that He lacked emotions, but that they had faded to the point of near nonexistence.
Maybe that's why He selected countless individuals, conducting tests to explore feelings and relationships—to rediscover what He had lost, or perhaps what He never truly possessed.
"If you ever grow tired of life as it is now, would you choose to become like Him?"
Li Si asked again, still smiling.
"How could I? You know my personality better than anyone."
Lin Fan chuckled.
"Besides, not just anyone can reach that level."
"Haha… true."
Lin Fan didn't notice the flicker of sorrow in Li Si's eyes. It was clear that Li Si knew far more than Lin Fan did.
Ignorance was bliss.
While the two of them could likely achieve immortality under normal circumstances, there was no guarantee that their loved ones could.
An era, two eras…
Eventually, when their loved ones were gone, and all their friends and family had passed, emotions would fade.
When that day came, they might unavoidably become like Him.
Perhaps not in power, but in mindset.
That was the loneliness of the truly powerful.
"Lin Fan, you'd better step it up! My cultivation has already surpassed yours by an entire realm!"
With that, Li Si disappeared, taking Xiao Wu with him—leaving behind a still-bickering Xiao Wu 2.
Lin Fan's face darkened.
Could it be that Li Si had discovered something? Otherwise, it wasn't like him to say something so cryptic.
Surpassed by an entire realm?
To be honest, during this meeting, Lin Fan had found it difficult to gauge Li Si's cultivation. Last time they met, they were on the same level. Now, Li Si had clearly been secretly cultivating!
"Damn it!" Lin Fan muttered.
The warmth of love is the grave of heroes.
"I can't let myself sink like this anymore!"
"Starting today, no more drinking!"
Though he said this, Lin Fan immediately began cultivating in earnest. He couldn't afford to fall behind—otherwise, if Li Si decided to beat him up, he wouldn't even be able to fight back!
"Time to work hard!"
Meanwhile, Xiao Wu 2 was left stunned by Xiao Wu's sudden disappearance.
Despite her own high cultivation, she hadn't even noticed how Xiao Wu had vanished.
How could this be? Their levels were similar. Though they hadn't fought, they could roughly gauge each other's strength.
"Dai Mubai, I just met another world's Xiao Wu!"
Xiao Wu 2 exclaimed excitedly when she saw Lin Fan.
She was still unfamiliar with the concept of parallel worlds. Though she'd met Li Si before, she had only thought he resembled someone from her past. She hadn't given it much thought.
After all, Lin Fan had introduced Li Si as his "long-lost brother."
The two would always start their meetings with a fight, ending in a draw before sitting down for a meal together—a truly strange ritual.
"Li Si is the Tang San of a parallel world," Lin Fan explained.
"What?!" Xiao Wu 2 gasped.
She had always been puzzled when Xiao Wu talked about Tang San and then referred to someone named Li Si.
But now, Lin Fan's explanation made everything clear.
"Dai Mubai, will you ever leave us?" Xiao Wu 2 asked, her eyes filled with hope and concern.
"No, I will stay with you all… forever."
