Chapter 202: Tang Shan’s Sacrifice – My Beloved
The place was a gourd-shaped cavern, narrow at the entrance and wide within. Owing to its higher elevation, the rainwater mixed with mud outside didn't manage to seep in. The dry air inside carried a faint warmth—it was immensely comfortable.
Rolling into the cave, Tang Shan hadn't even had the chance to catch her breath when she spotted a bonfire flickering in the darkness ahead. Bathed in the firelight was a girl dressed in a pink robe.
"Xiao Wu? Why are you here?" Tang Shan widened her eyes, staring in disbelief at the girl who looked exactly like Xiao Wu.
She had been honing the Haotian secret techniques, cleared the trials of Slaughter City—through all these years, Tang Shan never once slacked off. Every moment, she pushed herself harder. Since leaving Spirit Hall and Xiao Wu, she had absorbed countless lives. In only five years, she advanced from Soul King to Soul Ancestor. Yet, in her loneliness, it was always the image of that pure and adorable girl that filled her mind.
Now, to run into her while fleeing—could this be fate? Was the heavens sending her to patch the hole in her heart?
In that instant, Tang Shan already imagined a peaceful life, marrying this girl who looked like Xiao Wu, having children, living in seclusion. If they could truly be together, then her son would be called Tang Wulin.
"Miss, how do you know my name?" Xiao Wu stood up, confusion flickering in her eyes as she looked at the woman before her. Though soaked in mud and water, with her blue-purple hair clumped messily, it couldn't hide her breathtaking beauty. More importantly, she carried a refreshing aura of plants—so very similar to her Third Brother.
Tang Shan hurried forward and came to Xiao Wu's side, taking a deep breath. Her voice trembled. "Xiao Wu, is it really you? I'm Tang San!"
"Third Brother? How… how did you end up like this?" Xiao Wu hadn't expected that this stunning woman was her once plain-looking Third Brother. What had happened to him after her death?
Tang Shan's expression faltered, and she gave a bitter laugh. It was only now she truly realized—she was no longer a whole man. She didn't mention her physical changes, instead looking at Xiao Wu with deep emotion. "Xiao Wu, so much has happened over these years. This appearance… it's the result of my second martial soul awakening."
"Third Brother, don't rush. Catch your breath and tell me slowly. Maybe it's fate we met again. We've got all the time in the world." Xiao Wu, eyes brimming with tears, stepped forward and began straightening Tang Shan's robes, pulling out a handkerchief to gently dry her hair.
Tang Shan suddenly grabbed Xiao Wu's wrist. Tears streamed uncontrollably down her cheeks.
"Xiao Wu, I missed you so much. When I found out you sacrificed yourself to Ning Rongrong, I felt like the world had collapsed. I never imagined not only that you weren't dead, but that I'd see you again in this lifetime. Maybe this is destiny."
Xiao Wu shook her head. "Third Brother, after my soul beast identity was exposed in Spirit Hall, I did sacrifice myself to Ning Rongrong. I did die. But I've been revived—revived as a human. You… you won't mind that I used to be a soul beast, right?"
"What? You died once? And now you're a human?" Tang San looked at her, a strange sense of loss blooming in her chest. 'So that means in the future, she'll live and die like a human… and never again offer soul rings or bones to me?'
"Yes, Third Brother. Now that I'm fully human, I'll never be hunted for my soul ring or bones again." Xiao Wu smiled cheerfully. "Maybe because my soul came from a beast, I revived with my power at level 60. I'm now a Soul Emperor—I can protect you too!"
'So she can't sacrifice herself to me anymore?' Tang Shan forced a smile and patted Xiao Wu's head. After a long silence, she asked softly,
"But how were you revived after the sacrifice?"
"My soul remained inside my soul bone. Since Yu Tianming has already reached the divine realm, he revived me effortlessly. Rongrong played a huge part—without her persuasion, he might not have done it."
"Godhood? Yu Tianming became a god?" Tang Shan's expression changed drastically. 'He's only a few years older than me—how has he already become a god? Even if I spend my life absorbing vitality nonstop, I may never reach that height. Revenge? Hopeless…'
Noticing her expression darken, Xiao Wu looped her arm through Tang Shan's and said gently, "Third Brother, no matter how strong others are… I only like you."
Tang Shan said nothing. 'If I still had my thing… hearing this heartfelt confession, I would've lost control and poured out all my passion. But now… now I'm incomplete. Instead of comfort, her words only make me more conflicted.'
Sensing her silence, Xiao Wu shifted the topic. "Third Brother, your main martial soul is Blue Silver Grass, and now that it's awakened again, your beast bloodline should've strengthened. You'll gain many special powers from Blue Silver Grass."
"Oh? What special powers does Blue Silver Grass have?"
"It's the most widespread weed on the continent. Because of its vitality, it even grows in the Extreme North. With so much Blue Silver blood in you, your life force must be immense. If used correctly, not just reviving from death—even regenerating limbs should be easy."
"Regrow limbs? How can I gain that power?" Tang Shan's eyes sharpened. 'I'm a Soul Saint now. I've reunited with Xiao Wu. The only flaw… is that I lost my manhood. If I could regrow it with this power, I'd finally be whole again.'
"Third Brother, you've trained as a human all along, so even with half beast blood, you couldn't fully use it. But now with my help, I'll unlock your true Blue Silver potential."
"Then what are we waiting for? Teach me how to use it!"
"First sit down, Third Brother. I'll guide your soul power to help you sense it." Xiao Wu hopped behind Tang Shan like a rabbit. "But beast powers aren't as strong as you think, so get ready."
Tang Shan crossed her legs and sat by the fire.
"Xiao Wu, I'm excited to see what I can do with a beast's power."
From the Grandmaster, Tang Shan had learned much about soul beasts. She knew about hybrid creatures like the Wind Wolf Marauders—beasts known for their twisted lust and ability to breed with similar-sized creatures, birthing half-human, half-beast offspring.
These offspring gained both human intellect and beast power, speed, and wind manipulation. By logic, as a descendant of a hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver Emperor, her recovery abilities should also be notable—especially after her martial soul's second awakening.
Xiao Wu said nothing more. She placed her hands gently on Tang Shan's shoulders and began guiding her soul power. It was different from meditation or Xuantian Skill—more like an innate circulation, stirring her deeply buried life energy.
Perhaps it was due to her Blue Silver Emperor bloodline—once guided, Tang Shan's life force began to circulate as naturally as breathing.
"Third Brother, you've now activated the life force tied to your bloodline. You're like a soul beast now—your death will leave behind soul rings and bones." Xiao Wu leaned against the cave wall, smiling. "But don't worry, I'll never tell anyone your secret."
She gazed softly at Tang Shan. 'Third Brother now has beast blood, and I used to be a beast too. We're two of a kind. Finally, we've found each other.'
"Third Brother, now that you've awakened your bloodline, try sensing if you can merge your soul, power, and life essence—see if you can end your life early. If so… maybe you can sacrifice yourself."
Tang San slowly opened her eyes. She could feel something stirring below her waist—something was growing. 'Soon, I'll be a man again.' She chuckled lightly. "Sacrifice? Xiao Wu, now that we're together again, I'd rather start a new life with my beloved. Why end it now?"
Hearing such frank words from her usually reserved brother, Xiao Wu blushed furiously. "If something happens to you, you could sacrifice to me. If you leave your soul intact… we can stay together forever."
Tang San turned away. 'Twice now she's brought up sacrificing herself or me—like our value lies in what we can give. But now she's human. She can't give me anything anymore. And she knows my biggest secret… that I can drop soul rings and bones upon death.'
In the firelight, Tang San's tall shadow loomed over Xiao Wu's form. 'I think… I like myself more than her now.'
"Xiao Wu, we're not the same. If I die… I can't come back."
Xiao Wu, despite her hidden lewdness, remained naïve about human nature. Her eyes sparkled. "Third Brother, it's not just gods who can revive the dead. If something happens to you, I'll use every means to find a life-restoring elixir to bring you back."
"Oh? And how will you do that?"
"I lived in Star Dou Forest for countless years and reached the hundred-thousand-year stage. I know many hidden secrets. As long as I preserve your body and find a life-infused elixir, I can restore your flesh. Then your soul and body can reunite—won't that revive you?"
Tang San sighed. "Xiao Wu, your method is too risky. Preserving corpse is hard. Finding such an elixir even harder. And merging soul and flesh… nearly impossible."
Xiao Wu fell silent. 'Right… I'd forgotten. He's a real human, not like the Blue Silver Emperor. How could reviving him be easy?'
As she stood there quiet, the killing intent around Tang San surged. A brutal aura erupted from her body.
"My ability to drop soul rings and bones is a deadly secret. You knowing it… means you must die."
Boom—!
Just then, an explosion rocked the cave. The narrow entrance shattered, and a young woman stepped inside, her green robes crackling with teal flame.
Unfazed by Tang San's violent aura, she strolled in casually and stood by the fire. "It's pouring outside. I made no sound and released no soul power. So tell me—how did you sense me?"
Tang San stayed silent. 'I was about to kill Xiao Wu… and didn't expect another expert to be lurking outside.'
"I'm Azure Hawk Douluo, one of Spirit Hall's elders. I never thought I'd stumble upon such a secret while hunting the remnants of the Haotian Clan. A reincarnated hundred-thousand-year beast… and a half-beast hybrid. Any last words?"
Tang San's face darkened. She had only 72 levels of soul power—enough to dominate most places, but against a Soul Douluo? A fire-attribute Douluo who counters her?
Before she could answer, Xiao Wu rushed forward, arms outstretched, shielding her from Azure Hawk's gaze.
