Chapter 538: Please Enjoy Your Meal
When Kaguya withdrew her finger, she caught sight of Kurumi Tokisaki's left eye, and her gaze froze in shock.
On the young, tender face, her left eye had turned a brilliant gold. Within it was a clock-like symbol radiating dazzling light, resembling a swirling vortex that captivated anyone who looked at it. This was the unmistakable appearance of Kurumi Tokisaki's eye from over a decade later.
How could this be?
Seeing Kurumi already showing traces of her future self, Kaguya felt a wave of confusion. She had only infused her eye with Yin-Yang Chakra energy, intending to use its creative powers to restore her injured eye. Yet, the result was entirely unexpected.
A strange thought abruptly surfaced in Kaguya's mind.
Could it be that Kurumi Tokisaki's Spirit powers originated from me?
The notion was almost too fantastical to believe.
"Ah!"
The tender voice nearby brought Kaguya back to reality. She turned her gaze toward Kurumi and saw the young girl's wide, sparkling eyes filled with disbelief. Moments later, as though snow had melted and flowers had bloomed, her face lit up with a radiant smile of delight.
"I—I think I can see now!"
"That's good to hear," Kaguya said with a smile. Though she felt the situation was somewhat inexplicable, there was no reason to dwell on it. Whether her powers were the source or not didn't matter. As long as it helped Kurumi, that was enough.
It was much like never questioning why an apple is sweet—though perhaps Kaguya thought this way simply because she didn't like apples.
"Thank you so much! Really, thank you!" Young Kurumi clung tightly to Kaguya's hand, her gratitude spilling over.
"It's nothing." Kaguya gently ruffled Kurumi's head with a smile.
Looking at the sensible and beautiful little girl before her, Kaguya couldn't help but sigh inwardly. What kind of pain must she have endured to grow up so quickly?
"It's snowing," Kurumi said with delight, her face lighting up. "How beautiful!"
Indeed, soft, fluffy snowflakes floated down gently from the sky. Without the piercing cold winds, the scene was far more serene and enjoyable.
Suddenly, Kaguya's body began to emit a faint white glow. She froze momentarily, raising her hand to examine it. She watched as her delicate, jade-like fingers dissolved into specks of light, fading into the air.
Kaguya could clearly feel the space and time around her shifting rapidly. This world was rejecting her, and it wouldn't be long before she vanished from this era entirely.
Young Kurumi stared in astonishment at the glowing Kaguya. After a moment, as if realizing something, she lowered her head and murmured softly, "Darling, are you leaving?"
"It seems that way. I wanted to stay with you a little longer, but it doesn't look like that's possible," Kaguya replied with a faint smile. Using her other hand, she gently stroked Kurumi's head. "Unfortunately, it looks like I won't be able to stay by your side."
"Will you be gone for long?" Kurumi asked, her lips trembling slightly.
"Ah, probably for more than ten years," Kaguya said thoughtfully, her tone lighthearted. "But don't worry. I promise we'll meet again in the future."
If Kaguya's guess was correct, this entire situation was the result of an error in Kurumi's Twelfth Bullet. This accidental slip had sent Kaguya back over a decade into the past. Yet for Kaguya, this so-called accident felt more like fate. Without this, their future meeting—and the bond they now shared—might never have happened.
It was as if an invisible thread had tethered them together.
Destiny is a mysterious thing, Kaguya thought. However, she wasn't one to get lost in poetic musings. Her mind was already planning how she would punish a certain mischievous girl when she returned to the future. To think she'd kept such a significant secret for so long—truly unforgivable! And it would finally be time to claim her well-deserved reward, wouldn't it?
"Can't you stay?" Kurumi asked, her expectant gaze fixed on Kaguya.
Kaguya didn't answer. She simply shook her head gently. This wasn't something she could control—the future had already been set in stone.
Seeing Kaguya's silent refusal, Kurumi's hopeful expression gradually gave way to disappointment. To her, Kaguya wasn't just her savior. She was the closest thing to family, a warmth she hadn't felt since her parents passed.
But that warmth had been so fleeting, leaving Kurumi no time to fully grasp it.
"It's okay," Kurumi suddenly said, raising her head. Her young face was filled with resolve as she gazed at Kaguya's fading form. "One day, I'll grow strong—strong enough to find you again. We'll meet again, Darling. I promise."
"In that case, you'll need to work hard," Kaguya said with a wink, waving to her.
"Mm!" Kurumi nodded firmly.
"Then I can rest easy," Kaguya replied with a warm smile.
As she finished speaking, Kaguya's body dissolved into countless glimmering starlights, scattering into the air. Her lingering voice seemed to echo faintly in the dark night.
Time flowed ceaselessly, its current sweeping years away like the blink of an eye. For Kaguya, who had personally traversed these streams of time, the sensation of its transience was even stronger. Watching the rapidly shifting images before her, she felt a sense of disconnection, as if she were floating through an illusory dream.
Finally, the images settled. Kaguya looked around and realized she was back near a park not far from her villa. She let out a sigh of relief. Though time travel was fascinating, it also carried an unnerving lack of control, making her feel as if she were merely a passenger in its flow.
Though Kaguya's Mirror Flower, Water Moon ability allowed her to manipulate the flow of time—accelerating or decelerating it—it didn't enable her to travel into the past.
Now, the question was: where had that little minx Kurumi Tokisaki gone?
Just as the thought crossed her mind, a pair of delicate arms wrapped around her from behind, pulling her into a tight embrace. The soft, curvaceous body pressed against her own, leaving no space between them. Kaguya could even feel the plush, ample sensation of two very generous assets pressing against her back.
"Welcome back, Darling," a familiar, honeyed voice whispered into her ear.
Since the incident, Kotori Itsuka had remained unconscious for an entire week, showing no signs of waking up. Despite numerous medical examinations and even Kaguya's personal inspection, the cause of her coma could not be determined. Kotori's physical condition was perfectly normal, no different from a healthy person, her serene expression resembling that of someone simply in a deep sleep.
Kurumi Tokisaki had even joked that maybe Kotori was pretending to be unconscious to dodge her responsibilities.
However, looking at Kotori's current state, Kaguya found herself unable to find any humor in the situation. Especially with only three days left before her deadline, Kaguya was feeling the weight of the incomplete task assigned by the system. In the past four days, she had barely completed half of her mission. Saying she wasn't anxious would be a lie—her very fate hung in the balance.
What made things worse wasn't just the looming deadline but the fact that Kaguya had only encountered seven of the eleven spirits so far. There were still four spirits she hadn't even met yet. To win them over within the remaining time seemed an insurmountable challenge, even for her.
For the first time, Kaguya felt the pressure weighing down on her. She even toyed with the idea that if push came to shove, she'd just capture all of them at once and forcefully seal the deal. She simply didn't have the luxury of time to go through the proper steps of wooing each of them.
Was the author thinking nerfing wasn't enough, you need to suppress too? How many have already left the book by the time readers reached this chapter?
"What are you thinking about?"
A melodious voice broke her thoughts, followed by a pair of soft, delicate hands covering her eyes. "Guess who I am."
"Don't play around. Can't you see I'm thinking?" Kaguya said, a trace of helplessness in her tone. She reached up to grab the smooth, fair hands off her eyes. Turning around, she wasn't surprised to find Kurumi Tokisaki standing behind her.
"It's rare to see my dear Kaguya so troubled by something. How curious," Kurumi said, laughing lightly.
She was dressed in casual clothes today: a black jacket over a pure white blouse and a blue pleated skirt, her legs enveloped in black stockings. Although far simpler than her elaborate astral dress, this attire gave her an innocent, schoolgirl-like appearance, as though she were still in high school.
Kaguya gestured for Kurumi to come closer.
Kurumi blinked in slight surprise before a mischievous gleam lit her eyes. She smiled coquettishly and teased, "Could it be that my dear Kaguya is feeling unsatisfied again?" With that, she sauntered toward her.
As soon as she came within arm's reach, Kaguya flicked her forehead with a sharp snap.
"Ah!" Kurumi crouched down, holding her forehead in mock pain.
"I told you, stop teasing me," Kaguya chided. "And drop the act; I know it didn't hurt."
Kurumi looked up at Kaguya with her big, expressive eyes, then gave her a sly smile. "So, does my dear Kaguya truly have something troubling her?"
"Of course, why would I lie about that?" Kaguya replied.
"Could it be about your system mission?" Kurumi leaned in closer.
"Something like that."
Kaguya's mind was occupied with figuring out which spirit to prioritize. Yoshino was certainly close to her, but her young age made Kaguya decide against it. She wasn't a beast with no bottom line, and at worst, she would leave the task unfinished rather than cross that boundary.
As for Kotori, Kaguya had won their bet, and Kotori's personality ensured she would honor her commitments. But her current comatose state meant Kaguya had no idea when she'd wake up.
That left her with...
"If it's about that, it's not as hard as you think," Kurumi said, drawing out her words with a playful tone.
"Oh? Do you have an idea?" Kaguya's interest was piqued.
"But before we get to that, I haven't properly thanked you yet," Kurumi said as she moved closer, linking her arms with Kaguya's. "You probably already know about my past, don't you?"
"What past?"
Kurumi didn't answer immediately but clung tighter to Kaguya's arm and teased, "You once told me that 'darling' and 'sister' mean the same thing in your hometown. So, where exactly is your hometown, I wonder?"
"I nearly forgot," Kaguya said, leaning closer with a mock-threatening tone. "You sneaky little thing! You kept this from me for so long!"
"I couldn't exactly tell you earlier, or history might have changed," Kurumi said with a sheepish grin, pressing herself against Kaguya. "I didn't mean to hide it."
"Every mistake has its consequences," Kaguya said with a devilish smirk. "So, how do you want to be punished?"
With that, Kaguya's hand began to move, unbuttoning Kurumi's shirt one by one. Slipping past her jacket and beneath the blouse, her hand brushed against silky-smooth skin before reaching further. Her fingers closed around the soft, rounded fullness, kneading it shamelessly.
"Ah!" Kurumi let out a startled gasp, her cheeks flushing red as her body grew weak. Her voice turned sultry as she murmured, "How do you plan to punish me, darling?"
"That's up for debate," Kaguya said, her grin widening. Her other hand traced down Kurumi's back, lifting her skirt before grabbing hold of the soft, bouncy flesh beneath. Even through the stockings, the sensation was electric.
"Darling, I didn't think you were this kind of person," Kurumi said suddenly, her tone tinged with mock annoyance.
"What do you mean?" Kaguya asked, confused.
Kurumi gave her a sidelong glance before bursting into laughter. "To think you had your eyes on me even when I was that little! And saying things like 'six-nine'—you really are a pervert."
Kaguya coughed awkwardly. At the time, it hadn't seemed inappropriate, but looking back now, even she had to admit it was a little... beastly.
"But I'm grateful," Kurumi said softly, leaning her petite figure against Kaguya. "If it weren't for you back then, I would've died."
Kaguya paused, then said gently, "That's all in the past now. Don't dwell on it."
Kurumi shook her head and looked up, her beautiful eyes meeting Kaguya's. "You saved me, gave me a second chance at life. I'll never forget that."
"Stop thinking like that," Kaguya said, sighing. "You've already helped me a lot. Even if you owed me, it's more than repaid."
"No, if it weren't for you, there wouldn't be a 'me' today," Kurumi said softly.
Kaguya sighed again and withdrew her wandering hands, pulling Kurumi into a gentle embrace. The warmth between them slowly cooled Kaguya's earlier impulses.
Suddenly, Kurumi pushed her away, a sly fox-like smile lighting up her face. "In this situation, I should offer myself to you, but alas, I have something else to do today. I'll have to decline, darling."
Kaguya's eye twitched. She'd been duped. This sly little thing had outmaneuvered her yet again. She had even been looking forward to trying some new moves Kurumi had previously refused.
"But to make it up to you, I've prepared a special gift," Kurumi said, blinking her charming eyes.
"A gift?" Kaguya asked, her irritation momentarily replaced by curiosity.
"Of course." Kurumi walked over to the bed, grabbed the blanket, and yanked it off. "Ta-da!"
Beneath the blanket was a small figure with disheveled clothes, her mouth gagged with a towel. She squirmed helplessly, letting out muffled protests.
It was Natsumi.
Natsumi lay on the bed, her body tightly bound with ropes, writhing and letting out muffled "mmph mmph" sounds, her eyes blazing with anger as she glared furiously at Kurumi.
Seeing the scene before her, Kaguya was taken aback. Turning to Kurumi, she asked, "What exactly is going on here?"
Kurumi didn't answer right away. Instead, she approached with a faint smile and said, "If I'm not mistaken, the deadline for your system mission is fast approaching, isn't it?"
"Mm." Kaguya nodded lightly. Trusting Kurumi completely, she had already shared everything about the system and her origins with her. "But what does that have to do with this?"
"If you can't successfully complete your mission, even for you, my dear, the punishment is bound to be severe," Kurumi remarked, her voice carrying an unsettling calm. "Am I wrong?"
"No, you're not."
Severe didn't even begin to describe it. The punishment was outright terrifying. All the achievement points she had painstakingly accumulated over countless efforts would likely be wiped out due to a single failure. Worse still, if the deduction exceeded her available points, she might even face erasure. That was why Kaguya couldn't afford to take this situation lightly.
"Well, then," Kurumi said, a radiant smile gracing her face as she approached Natsumi. With a gentle pinch of Natsumi's soft, pale cheek, she added, "Here you have exactly what you need for your mission. If you 'consume' her, you'll be one step closer to completion."
Kaguya frowned slightly. Although she understood Kurumi's intentions and recognized that her actions stemmed from concern, she couldn't approve of such methods. Kurumi's impulsiveness and lack of consultation irked her. Yet, Kaguya couldn't deny that she was in dire straits. If she didn't act soon, the consequences would be even more catastrophic.
The mention of being "consumed" made Natsumi freeze. Her body stiffened for a moment before her struggles intensified. She twisted violently against her restraints, her muffled cries growing increasingly frantic. Evidently, she had misinterpreted the ambiguous term.
"Good children should stay quiet," Kurumi said with a light chuckle.
She raised a delicate hand and delivered a swift chop to Natsumi's neck.
Natsumi's pupils contracted as her body stiffened. Her head slumped, and she fell unconscious.
"Even if your actions are for my sake, I can't agree with this approach," Kaguya said with a sigh. "What if this makes Natsumi our enemy?"
Kurumi pressed herself softly against Kaguya, her tone as smooth as velvet. "But my dear, this little one owes her life to you. Without you, she'd already be dead. So she should be grateful to you. Asking her to lend a small hand is hardly unreasonable, don't you think?"
"Grateful, my ass," Kaguya muttered internally. Natsumi's puffed-up cheeks and fiery expression made it clear that she was on the verge of snapping.
"This is still—" Kaguya began but sighed mid-sentence.
"Oh, right!" Kurumi suddenly exclaimed. She walked over to Natsumi and placed her hand on the unconscious girl's abdomen. "Almost forgot."
Kaguya watched Kurumi's actions with a puzzled expression, wondering what mischief she was up to.
Before Kaguya could ask, Kurumi said, "Done."
Suddenly, a faint green light enveloped Natsumi's body, swirling around her in gossamer strands that encased her like a cocoon. When the glowing threads dissipated, Kaguya's gaze sharpened.
Before her lay a beautiful girl with soft, sea-green hair cascading over the bed. Her skin was creamy and smooth, tinged with a faint pink blush, as if it would yield to the slightest touch. Her features were exquisitely delicate, like a character stepping out of a painting. Her figure was equally enchanting: a prominent, proud bust; a slender, graceful waist; and rounded, shapely hips. Her perfectly proportioned hourglass figure was utterly captivating. Even Kaguya, with her high standards, couldn't deny that this was a true beauty.
It was hard to believe that this stunning maiden had once been the same plain and timid Natsumi. The stark contrast between her previous appearance and her current form was staggering. It was no wonder that Natsumi always chose to appear like this in the original story. Who wouldn't be smitten with such a beauty?
"What exactly did you do?" Kaguya asked, still taken aback.
"Nothing much," Kurumi replied, covering her mouth with a playful giggle. "Such a beauty would be wasted if not put to good use."
"I mean, how did you make Natsumi transform?" Kaguya pressed, her confusion evident.
It wasn't just that Natsumi had been subdued. Considering she had regained her former powers, capturing her would have been no easy feat. While Kaguya herself might not have much difficulty, Natsumi remained a formidable opponent for others. That Kurumi had not only captured her but also triggered her transformation was entirely unexpected.
"Oh, don't sweat the details," Kurumi said with a casual wave of her hand. She gave Kaguya a gentle push before heading toward the door. Pausing at the doorway, she turned to flash a sly smile and winked. "Wishing you a most enchanting evening, my dear."
With that, she slipped out, shutting the door behind her and leaving Kaguya with an unconscious Natsumi sprawled across the bed.
Looking at Natsumi, Kaguya let out a soft sigh. Since this little lamb had delivered herself to her doorstep, there was no reason not to partake.
With that thought, Kaguya reached out to undo the ropes binding Natsumi, only to find herself meeting a pair of vivid green eyes.
"You're awake?" Kaguya asked, momentarily stunned.
"Mmph, mmph," Natsumi wriggled her voluptuous body, letting out muffled protests.
The ropes, tied for her smaller form, were now unbearably tight after her transformation, digging into her skin and making her visibly uncomfortable. Yet, unaware of her current appearance, Natsumi's writhing movements—particularly while bound—made her look irresistibly seductive. Kaguya's earlier suppressed desires began to stir once more.
