Chapter 110: DULK: Chapter 110
The three observing Servants were surprised, but Arthas remained calm.
Flandre's performance wasn't unexpected; she wasn't a Caster but a Berserker, known for exceptional direct combat ability.
Archer's attack, while visually impressive, lacked substance. Though all his weapons were Noble Phantasms, he merely threw them; they lacked true power.
With a deafening roar, Flandre deflected the last of the sixteen Noble Phantasms.
In the ensuing silence, amidst the dust, the small girl stood firm, protecting Arthas. Warehouses, streets, and buildings lay in ruins.
Flandre's staff was undamaged; Archer's Noble Phantasms lay scattered at her feet or embedded in the rubble; none had hit her.
Then, Flandre performed a move that even Arthas admired. She raised her staff and launched a fireball at Archer.
This cemented the impression of Flandre as a Caster in everyone's minds.
They'd unconsciously forget her earlier, godlike deflection of Archer's Noble Phantasms, remembering only her magical counterattack.
Though she counterattacked with a fireball, her target wasn't Archer but the streetlight he stood on. The fireball melted the iron pole.
Archer, however, leaped effortlessly to the ground.
"Fool… do you think you can make me descend from the heavens?"
Archer's nonchalance was merely an act.
His rage had reached its peak; deep wrinkles marred his handsome face, turning it into a mask of fury.
"Your insolence deserves death a thousand times over, mongrel! I will obliterate you!"
Archer's eyes burned like red lotuses; he roared, more weapons appearing around him, warping space…
Thirty-two weapons appeared this time; even Gilgamesh was stunned into silence.
Flandre's deflection of sixteen Noble Phantasms was impressive, but no one expected Archer to unleash twice as many. His potential exceeded expectations.
"…Gilgamesh is serious. He's using 'Gate of Babylon: Treasury of the King',"
Tohsaka Tokiomi, hearing the report from Kirei Kotomine via the gem-linked communication device, clutched his head.
Even in the far-off Tohsaka mansion's underground, they could monitor the battle. Their cooperation with Kotomine, controlling the Assassins, had yielded results.
Everything should have gone smoothly.
The only unexpected event was Gilgamesh's summoning as an Archer; Archer-class Servants were known for powerful Noble Phantasms.
Gilgamesh possessed unparalleled Noble Phantasms, but the Grail gave him the Archer class; this was a miscalculation. It granted the arrogant hero king exceptional independent action capabilities.
Tokiomi feared Gilgamesh and wanted to respect his wishes, but had Gilgamesh already reached his limit…?
Gilgamesh was using his trump card, but Tokiomi should still be focusing on Assassin intel. Recklessly displaying "Gate of Babylon" against an unknown enemy was unwise.
Going all-out was unacceptable.
Independent Servants, not reliant on Masters, could only be controlled with Command Spells; three precious, irreversible commands.
With Gilgamesh, who disregarded his Master, these spells were invaluable.
Calmness and elegance were Tohsaka family tenets; Tokiomi adhered to them, but was forced to use a Command Spell before other Masters…
"Master, decide quickly!"
Kotomine's urgent voice came through the comms.
Tokiomi gritted his teeth, gazing at the armor on his right hand.
Archer, his furious gaze fixed on Flandre, shifted his attention.
His gaze moved southeast, towards the hills and upscale residential area of Fuyuki—the Tohsaka mansion. Few noticed this.
"Do you think platitudes can quell my rage, Tokiomi…? You're growing bolder…"
Archer sneered, whispering. The numerous Noble Phantasms vanished.
"You're lucky tonight."
Though still angry, the burning rage in Archer's eyes had subsided; his pride remained unshaken; he surveyed the Servants.
"Mongrels. I expect something more impressive next time! Only true heroes can face me."
Archer vanished; the golden armor lost its substance, leaving only residual light, then disappearing completely.
This was an unexpected conclusion; the proud Servant's grand entrance ended abruptly.
