Chapter 19: You are a vampire
Zane stared at the message. It was clear as day what it meant, but yet it was shocking to him. He looked at the young man, this might be an opportunity to test it. It came at this time, so it had to be a sign, right?
"Fine, I'll keep you alive, but there is something, you'll never be human again," Zane said and flashed his fangs. The boy saw the teeth grow from his mouth and was immediately stunned.
"What... what are you?" he asked.
Zane looked at him, a smile on his face. "Have you ever heard of vampires?" he asked.
"... Yes, but they are stories of the past. They do not exist, and if they did, they don't any—" the man was speaking when he realized that Zane was trying to tell him he was a vampire.
Zane watched the realization form on his face, and he expected a reaction like the boy running, because vampires were cursed and evil, but to his surprise, the boy stood, head straight.
"So you're saying you'll turn me into a vampire?" he spoke.
"Yes, that's what I'm saying," Zane said, a little surprised at how well the dude was taking it.
"I have no reason to refuse, but I want you to promise me two things, and my life is yours. One, that I'll see my family one day, and the second, that I'll gain the strength to finally stand against anyone that comes for me," he spoke.
'He wants me to promise that? I can make him see his family one day, but can I make him stronger? Well, he is a vampire. Our strength doesn't work the same as humans from what I've seen, so I'll agree to it. I'll make him stronger.'
"I agree to it. I'll make you strong enough to fight whoever stands against you, and I'll make sure you see your family one day," Zane said.
"Then my life is yours," the man said and bowed his head.
"Before I turn you, what's your name?" Zane asked.
"My name is Grey," the boy replied.
"Then Grey, welcome to the bloody side," Zane said. He grabbed Grey by the neck and pulled him up, going in for a bite. His teeth sunk into his body and Turn activated.
For the first few seconds, Grey couldn't feel anything other than a cool sensation from the bite. But when Zane pulled his teeth out, a sudden pain shot through Grey's body.
"Arghhhhh!" he screamed and fell to the ground. His body felt like it was on fire. He tossed and rolled while Zane watched. This was his first turning, and so he didn't know if this was supposed to happen or not.
He watched as Grey turned on the floor for a few seconds before stopping and going unconscious on the ground. He was still alive and breathing fine.
Zane could see that something was happening inside his body—from the inside to the outside, changes were happening to him.
"Seems it is working. And while that is happening, let me go do what I need to," Zane said and looked at all the bodies laying there. It was time to get stronger.
[.....]
Outside the underground arena, Lucy had chased the figure out of the tunnel, into the building, and into the city.
Lucy was fast. She moved like a bullet and maneuvered with skill and finesse. But the runaway was no slacker as well.
The figure teleported with black smoke after every few steps and got at least a hundred steps ahead. Lucy would catch up, and then the figure would teleport.
Tired of this, Lucy used a blood art. "Blood Art: Blood Bind," she called out, blood forming around her hand, and she shot it out. The blood turned into ropes mid-air, many of them.
They shot down from all angles. It wrapped around the body of the figure faster than the figure could escape. With their body completely tied up, they fell down on a roof. But then the figure teleported away from the bind and appeared a hundred feet away, this time not running.
The figure looked in the direction of Lucy. They had a white mask with a black line under the right eye and glowing blue-purple eyes behind the mask.
"It seems MY assUMPtions, ABOUt yoU WAs cORrect. YoU Are a VampirE," the figure spoke, its voice very distorted and twisted.
Lucy frowned when she heard that. Someone knew that she and Master were vampires, it was not a good thing at all.
"You were the one following us earlier today. What do you want?" Lucy asked.
"FOr noW, NoTHing. But When YOur MAsTer bEComes A REal threat, I'll CoMe for Him," the figure said.
Lucy's expression went dark when she heard that. She vanished, and out of the darkness, her dagger went for the head of the figure, stabbing through the mask, shattering it.
But the black robes fell to the ground like there was nothing around, and when she looked around, she couldn't sense anyone again.
Lucy gritted her teeth in anger. She had allowed someone that was a threat to Zane get away. She had failed in her task.
She clenched hard, but without anything else she could do, she headed back for the arena.
A far distance from where Lucy had been, a figure sat on a roof, a lady. Her hair was dark purple like her eyes. She was slim with a toned body and a beautiful shape. Her face was sharp, and her expression cold.
She wore a small vest on her chest and leather pants.
A drop of blood fell from her forehead. She touched her forehead and looked at the blood. "She managed to get me even after using a secret treasure to escape. Terrifying. Vampires are really terrifying," she said before getting on her feet. She looked in that direction one more time, and then teleported with her black smoke method, leaving the vicinity quickly.
