Chapter 118: Chapter 118: Jack the Drought (Part 3)
Jack touched the bleeding hole in his shoulder, then ran his hand over every wound on his body. He grew increasingly ferocious, his blood-red eyes glaring savagely at Modi and the others.
Like a maddened beast, Jack roared, "This much power isn't enough to kill me! Come, let me show you my true strength!"
Jack threw his head back and bellowed. The entire island trembled with his roar, and his fierce aura vibrated the air. Under everyone's shocked gazes, Jack transformed into a ten-meter-tall ancient mammoth. His jet-black fur shimmered with a metallic luster, and his five-to-six-meter-long tusks could easily pierce a mountain. The mere swing of his even longer trunk created sonic booms.
His trunk slammed the ground, shattering it.
"Come on!"
Jack roared. What horrified Bege and the others even more was that after his transformation, the wounds on his body began to heal at an astonishing rate. Except for the wound where the bone spike had impaled him, all other injuries closed up.
"This guy's strength is seriously mismatched with his bounty," Moria said gravely.
"Don't even think about getting near the Captain!" Marklode pressed both hands to the ground, bone fluid frantically surging from his arms. The Bone Sea reappeared, rising upwards and solidifying into a three-meter-thick bone wall.
Marklode leaned against the bone wall, panting. The effort was incredibly draining.
Jack crashed violently into the bone wall. His tusks pierced through it, and his trunk, swinging with terrifying power, sent bone fragments flying. Under the frenzied assault, the bone wall exploded.
"Bone-user, get lost!" Jack's trunk whipped out. Marklode quickly condensed a bone shield, but it couldn't withstand the trunk's might and he was sent flying hundreds of meters.
"Let me test his defenses!" Riki grew excited. He took a cannon barrel from his waist, attached it to his arm, and aimed at the charging Jack.
The cannon barrel rapidly turned red-hot, flames igniting.
"Cremation Cannon!"
A massive, high-pressure pillar of fire erupted, slamming into Jack. Even Jack couldn't withstand the terrifying impact, and his enormous body was blasted away, carving a trench hundreds of meters long in the ground.
The flames suddenly burst apart, and the giant mammoth charged out from within. The fire on its body quickly died down, but more than half of its fur had been burned away.
Its head, in particular, was scorched black. But even so, Jack hadn't fallen.
"He's still not dead after that? This guy's hide is way too thick!" Bege exclaimed as he watched the enraged Jack. Jack the Drought's defensive power was already this incredible. He then thought about Kaido – the man who had challenged the Marines and Four Emperors, been captured 18 times, endured over a thousand sessions of brutal torture, and sentenced to death 40 times, yet whom even Whitebeard couldn't kill. Just how thick was his hide?
"Let me have some fun too!" Moria became excited. His shadow writhed on the ground, then flew up directly, transforming into a Shadow Horn Spear that instantly stabbed forward.
Jack furiously swung his trunk, shattering the Shadow Horn Spear.
The broken Shadow Horn Spear reverted to shadow on the ground, reformed, and then split into countless black shadow tendrils, slithering rapidly like snakes across the ground towards Jack's feet.
Jack stomped his elephantine legs, trying to crush the shadow tendrils. The ground was pulverized, but the shadows continued to move through the shattered earth, climbing up Jack's legs.
Hundreds of shadow tendrils wrapped around Jack, then suddenly tightened, constricting him. Each tendril possessed astonishing power, slowly managing to lift the massive Jack into the air.
Bege had played a significant role in the development of Moria's Shadow-Shadow Fruit abilities. He had suggested ideas to Moria based on the Nara clan's shadow secret techniques from another major manga, Naruto, which helped Moria develop many new shadow attack methods.
The scene unfolding before them was precisely an imitation of the Nara clan's Shadow Binding Technique.
With a loud bang, Jack roared, and all the shadow tendrils around his body snapped. Jack landed on the ground and charged furiously towards Bege.
"Stay away from my brother!" Suddenly, Weevil rushed forward, landing a punch on Jack's body that sent him flying.
Weevil's face was filled with murderous intent. He strode towards Jack, grabbed his tusks with his large hands, and with a sudden exertion of force, flung Jack away, crashing him through several large trees.
Jack immediately burst out from the forest, charging back with crushing force.
Weevil spread his arms wide and, as Jack arrived, grabbed his tusks, intending to hold him back.
Jack's terrifying strength pushed Weevil, making him slide across the ground, his feet carving two deep furrows.
"Small fry, get lost!" Jack swung his trunk, smashing Weevil away, then charged straight for Bege.
Moria and the other two were rubbing their fists, preparing to engage Jack, but Bege waved his hand at that moment.
"Let me teach him a lesson," Bege said, deciding to act personally. His hand rested on his sword hilt, and in an instant, he drew his blade. A massive slash of light flew out, striking Jack directly. Jack reacted in time, his body immediately hardening with Armament Haki. The slash of light struck the Armament Haki, shattering it and leaving a gruesome gash on his body. Jack stumbled back more than ten steps before crashing heavily to the ground, his body rapidly reverting to human form.
Bege slowly walked towards Jack, not even sparing him a glance as he passed by.
"Bege, this guy is a good meat shield, perfect for training. Aren't you going to take him with us?" Moria looked down at Jack with a grotesque smile.
"He's one of Kaido's top commanders. If we take him, that madman Kaido will definitely come after us. We can't afford to confront Kaido right now," Bege said with a smile, waving his hand dismissively.
"Consider yourself lucky, brat," Moria snorted and strode away.
"Bring all the heavily injured men onto the Sky God," Bege commanded. His men quickly carried the heavily injured and unconscious members aboard the Sky God for treatment.
The Sky God set sail once more. On deck, Marklode was covered in bandages, an IV drip attached to him, his expression grim. Being defeated by someone with a lower bounty was a disgrace to him.
"Captain, I've shamed you," Marklode lowered his head in shame.
Bege laughed. "That fellow has the Ancient Zoan Mammoth Fruit, and he's developed it very well. His strength and defense are both extremely high; his actual abilities far exceed his bounty. Even a pirate with a 500 million Berry bounty might not be able to beat him."
"Marklode, you don't need to be disheartened. Your Bone-Bone Fruit is an excellent fruit. Develop it well, and it definitely won't be weak. The main reason for your failure today was your physical combat skill; it's too poor. When we get back to Skypiea, focus on training your physical abilities and shore up this weakness."
Marklode nodded firmly.
"Brother, I want to become a Devil Fruit user too! I want an elephant fruit too! I want to become stronger, so next time, I definitely won't let bad guys get near you!" Weevil's expression was more serious than ever before.
"Hahahaha! Good, very good, Weevil! I'll find you a powerful Devil Fruit!" Bege burst out laughing.
Weevil chuckled along, believing that Bege would definitely find him an amazing Devil Fruit.
Aboard Jack's pirate ship, Jack lay on the deck, a deep, bone-visible wound on his chest. A large amount of blood stained the deck red. His crewmen frantically tried to stop the bleeding. Jack stared up at the sky, his roars of fury echoing across the heavens.
"Capone Bege! Capone Bege! Capone Bege! I will kill you!"
