Chapter 29 Evidence In The Recorder

Yan Gui took the voice recorder from Hao Ziqiang's hand and pressed the switch. Only the prisoner's voice came from the recorder.

"I am Wu Shun, prisoner No. 0332 of Tiebao Prison. I report under my real name that there is prisoner abuse in Tiebao Prison. The top brass of Tiebao Prison deliberately lock us in a wasteland and then send butchers to hunt us down."

"I am Vikas, prisoner No. 0700 of Iron Fort Prison. I report to Iron Fort Prison illegally under my real name. They force me to participate in a death game. We are both mentally and physically tortured."

"I am He Guifan, prisoner No. 0024 of Tiebao Prison. I report under my real name that the top brass of Tiebao Prison are suspected of using hallucinogenic drugs to destroy our nerves. We are trapped in a world of reincarnation that we cannot extricate ourselves from."

In the recorder, one prisoner after another frowned at the strict rules of Iron Castle Prison. Halfway through, Yan Gui turned off the recorder.

"What nonsense, death game? Butcher? Female ghost? Hao Ziqiang, are you making fun of me?" Yan Gui stared into Hao Ziqiang's eyes, and his voice became colder.

Seeing Yan Gui showing signs of anger, Hao Ziqiang hurriedly explained, "Team Leader Yan, it's not that I am looking to cheer you up, but the prisoners in the prison did say so. According to my investigation, Iron Castle Prison is likely to use a hallucinogenic drug, which causes the prisoners to have hallucinations of being chased. I heard from some prisoners who were not affected that many prisoners' temperaments changed drastically after they came out of a room code-named Zero, and their spirits were greatly affected. I don't think you will ignore this. Are you going to stand by and watch?"

After hearing this, Yan Gui sneered. "Haha, Mr. Hao knows so much. It seems that your Sloka Group has worked hard for the land of Iron Castle Prison."

Hearing this, Hao Ziqiang just shrugged and said nothing more. However, Yan Gui was too lazy to argue with Hao Ziqiang about this kind of thing. He put away the recording pen and nodded. "Forget it, as the leader of the investigation team, I will confirm what you said, but as I said earlier, if Iron Castle Prison really did this, I will act in accordance with the law and will never show mercy. But if the evidence you provided is false..."

Finally, Yan Gui sighed deeply and put the recorder in his pocket. Yan Gui murmured to himself when he came to the window and looked at the city under construction in the distance.

"Lao Yang, don't blame me for not helping your son. If he really did something illegal, then I can only enforce the law impartially." Many past events came to mind. In the end, Yan Gui just sighed and stopped thinking about these things.

Three days later, outside the gate of Iron Fort Prison, several executive cars slowly drove through the prison gate. Among these executive cars was the logo of the Human Alliance. Yan Gui stepped out of the car, and behind him came Hao Ziqiang's voice. "Team Leader Yan, thank you for inviting me to investigate with the team."

Glancing at Hao Ziqiang, who was smiling behind him, Yan Gui replied coldly, "You're welcome, it's just a process. Since this is Iron Castle Prison, which you reported, it is only fair to take you with me. But remember, you are not here to persuade anyone. You only have the right to supervise." 

Hao Ziqiang responded, "Of course, of course." Although Yan Gui's tone was stern, Hao Ziqiang didn't see it as a problem. Initially, Hao Ziqiang was worried that Yan Gui would be biased towards Iron Castle Prison, but now it seems that Yan Gui is as fair and just as rumored.

Soon, the group arrived at the internal gate of the prison, where Yang Chi and a group of prison guards greeted them. Seeing Yan Gui and others arriving, Yang Chi stepped forward to shake hands with Yan Gui enthusiastically. "Hello, Team Leader Yan, it is our great honor that you and all the investigative comrades came to our Iron Fort Prison for inspection," he said politely. 

Despite the niceties, Yang Chi was inwardly anxious. Yan Gui, the leader of the rating team, was known for his serious, unsmiling demeanor. Yang Chi worried about offending Yan Gui with any etiquette slip, knowing that this rating could determine the life and death of Iron Castle Prison.

However, just as Yang Chi was considering these thoughts, Yan Gui did something unexpected. The usually stern old man actually smiled after hearing Yang Chi's words, leaving everyone astonished. 

The old investigators who had followed Yan Gui's strict rules were particularly shocked. They had never seen Team Leader Yan smile; it was as rare as the sun rising in the west. The investigators quickly realized that Yan Gui had an unusual relationship with the young warden in front of them. As a result, they reconsidered their approach to the upcoming prison rating, understanding they might need to adjust their expectations.

Hao Ziqiang, standing nearby, also noticed this surprising turn of events. Even an outsider could see that Yan Gui had an unusual connection with Yang Chi. Contemplating Yan Gui's earlier assertions of fairness, Hao Ziqiang's expression darkened. "You old man, you preach fairness and justice. It turns out you are biased too!" he thought. Yet, Hao Ziqiang remained confident. With him observing, Yan Gui wouldn't dare to unduly favor Iron Fort Prison, despite his connection to Yang Chi.
