Beloved Bride: Captured by the Top Playboy

Chapter 20: Chapter 20 Interview Failed Again

"You gave it up voluntarily, don't blame me!" This pretty boy wouldn't be thinking of asking for the money back, would he? No way!

"I did make you fried rice, we agreed that settled it." Suxin hurriedly added another sentence.

"You... you... Fine, let's forget about that matter, but what about this shirt? Can my genuine article be the same as this one?" At this moment, Chen Ziqian was truly infuriated. Where did this unreasonable old lady pop up from?

"Are you saying this one is... a genuine article?" Suxin's tone softened, and she looked at Chen Ziqian with a bit of embarrassment. In fact, when she received the package yesterday and took it out for a look, she had noticed the difference, but she had been unwilling to admit it to herself.

"Of course! Do I look like someone without taste?" Saying so, Chen Ziqian flung the shirt onto Suxin's shoulder.

"Alright, I'll compensate you in a few days. I don't have time to go shopping right now."

Suxin said, grudgingly. Ever since meeting this pretty boy, nothing good had happened. Her money was vanishing from her bank account at the speed of flight.

Watching Chen Ziqian nod, Suxin slammed the door shut with a "bang."

The next day, by some coincidence, Suxin ran into Chen Ziqian again as she left her apartment. Both of them rode the elevator down in silence, and even after stepping out of the residential complex's gate, they exchanged no words.

Wang Mingfei's private car was already waiting at the entrance. Chen Ziqian got straight into the passenger seat, while Suxin walked towards the bus station.

"Eh? Isn't that Miss Cheng? You guys are leaving together for work? Seems like you're getting along quite well, haha." Wang Mingfei had a smug smile as he started the car.

"As if I could get along with that old lady."

"What old lady? Miss Cheng is still very young. In my professional opinion, if she dressed up, she'd be no less than those celebrities. If it weren't for the fact that I already have our Ke'er, I might have pursued her. You know what? When I rented the apartment to her, I was charmed by her simplicity and beauty, which gave me a very comfortable feeling."

"What kind of taste do you have?" Chen Ziqian glanced at Wang Mingfei with disdain.

"Dudu dudu," the car suddenly stopped, and Wang Mingfei stuck his head out the window, "Miss Cheng, where to? I can give you a lift if it's on the way."

"Oh, no need, thank you. I'll just wait for the bus," Suxin replied politely upon seeing the smiling Wang Mingfei, declining the offer from her former landlord with whom she wasn't exactly familiar.

"It's rush hour now, look how many people are waiting at the bus station. It's more comfortable in my car," Wang Mingfei insisted enthusiastically.

"Afei, if you keep this up, we'll be late. Just drive!" Chen Ziqian interjected abruptly.

Glancing sideways at Chen Ziqian and seeing his unwelcoming demeanor, Suxin's annoyance prompted her to retort, "I'm going to Citibank on Shanghai Road. Would that be on the way?"

"On the way! Definitely on the way!" Wang Mingfei nodded eagerly upon hearing Suxin's words.

"On the way, my foot. Yuanfang International is clearly on Central East Road, three streets away from Shanghai Road!" Chen Ziqian rolled his eyes at Wang Mingfei, though he merely cursed in his head, not voicing his thoughts.

And Wang Mingfei, on the receiving end of that rolling eyes, couldn't stop grinning. Ah, these two made such a hilariously matched pair, amusing indeed!

"So Miss Cheng, you changed jobs?" Wang Mingfei inquired, "I remember you used to work at an import-export trading company."

```
"No, I went for an interview today."
"Oh, so Miss Cheng is thinking about switching jobs, huh?"
"I don't think it's that she wants to switch jobs; it's more like her previous company fired her," Chen Ziqian said, leaning back in his chair with a relaxed and nonchalant air.
"Can this pretty boy not always pick at her scars? The guy really has a way with words!" Suxin thought resentfully to herself, clenching her fists. It was one thing to admit it herself, but it felt humiliating when someone else pointed it out so bluntly.
"Yes!" Suxin said through gritted teeth, "So now I'm very poor, yet someone is still exploiting me like a bully, completely without any sympathy." Suxin said pointedly, looking at Chen Ziqian.
"Heh, don't worry, with Auntie's amazing fighting spirit, always pressing on and sturdy like a tough cockroach that can't be stomped out, you'll surely find a job to support yourself."
Dizzy, was this pretty boy comforting her or mocking her? Absolutely a man with a poisonous tongue!
"Hmph." Suxin turned her head to look out the window, choosing to ignore Chen Ziqian. She couldn't understand how this man, lacking any grace, managed to hook up with those rich women!
The interview at Citibank didn't go well. When they learned that Suxin's five years of work experience had been only at the very bottom level, they immediately shook their heads. The interviewer regretfully told her that they were looking for someone with extensive financial experience.
As she walked out of the Citibank building, the glittering sunlight seemed dull and colorless in Suxin's eyes, and she couldn't muster any enthusiasm.
Aimlessly and with a dim look in her eyes, she walked on the noisy street. Suxin didn't want to go home; she just kept walking forward. She couldn't understand what she had been doing for the past five years since graduation. Why had she achieved nothing?
Many of her old college friends had become the backbone of their companies, a few had even been promoted to supervisors, and some who had worse academic performance than hers in university were doing well now. Even Bai Xiaoyan, who had always muddled through the days with her, had become a client manager at her bank, handling quite a few customer resources.
"What exactly have I been mixed up in?" Suxin ridiculed herself.
A sudden, harsh screech of car brakes—"Ssshh"—a black car stopped just five centimeters from her.
"If you want to die, don't use my car, unlucky!" the driver yelled cursing after rolling down the window.
"Sorry, sorry," Suxin hastily apologized. It was her fault; she had mindlessly dashed into the street without noticing the traffic light. She hadn't been paying attention at all.
"Lucky I was alert. If you were hit, even if I was in the right, it wouldn't be clear!" After shouting that, the driver started his car and zoomed away in a puff of exhaust.
"Life has really been unfortunate recently!" Suxin continued walking, but her steps hesitated upon seeing the familiar figure ahead.
Liu Haoran?
"Susu, weren't you hurt? Let me have a look!"
Liu Haoran moved forward to grasp Suxin's hand, but she stepped back to dodge.
Looking at the black Audi A8 behind Liu Haoran, a complex emotion surged through Suxin. It seemed that after leaving her, Liu Haoran had quickly made his way up in the world; she really must have held him back for the five years they had been together, always taking the bus or subway.
Suxin smiled, but it was more like a sneer at herself.
